A list of puns related to "Anti Tank"
Chemtech drake is the only buff that seems like it cannot be used by an entire class. If you look at the rest:
Then enter Chemtech, extra damage for having less health than the opponent. I understand Chemtech Drake's fantasy is "always fight even if you're low on HP because you can turn it around with extra damage", but in reality what the current iteration does is mean that with say, 3 stacks of it a champion with LDR deals almost an extra 50% damage to tankier champions.
I understand tanks have been really dominant the entire season and Divine Sunderer, Cut Down, Lord Dominiks, Serylda, Void Staff, Eclipse, Kraken Slayer, Liandry, Demonic Embrace, Blade of the Ruined King, Black Cleaver, Riftmaker aren't enough to keep them down, but did they really need to add an entire dragon just tailormade to counter them further?
Also, you could have the exact same fantasy for Chemtech Drake simply by making it having a lower HP % than the enemy. That way you keep the "fight even if you're behind in HP" fantasy but not make it so people just permanently deal extra 8-24% damage to tanky characters.
BBC News - Russia-Ukraine crisis: UK sending weapons to defend Ukraine, says defence secretary https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60033012
Due to the Russian build-up, batches of anti-tank munitions are being sent to Ukraine by the UK. Perhaps more crucially, they are accompanied by British soldiers, whose job it is to advise the Ukrainians on how to use these weapons.
Will these weapons be able to curb Russia's armour dominance?
Hammerhead (assuming bs 3+ and Burst Cannons) has a 57.2% chance of killing two eradicators. Theres probably an apothecary nearby, so you better hope you kill two or you do nothing at all. And if you do kill two, one of them is standing back up anyways...
3 Eradicators with heavy melta rifles and a Multimelta have a 68% chance of killing a Hammerhead. At 1/2 range, its 87%.
Hammerhead has a 57.6% chance of severely damage a MultiMelta Retributor unit. Better hope there isn't a Hospitaller nearby to bring them back to full strength...
MultiMelta Retributors at 24" have a 90% chance to kill a Hammerhead. At 12" that goes up to 99.9%. And thats when the TO only lets you shoot one cherub too. Also, they are probably safe inside a rhino still...
Hammerhead has a 74.1% chance to kill a Contemptor Dreadnaught.
The Contemptor Dreadnaught (assuming typical Iron hands buffs) has a 73.6% chance to kill the Hammerhead. Oh, and also the contemptor is bodyguarded so you can't even shoot it in the first place.
Hammerhead has a 74.1% chance of killing a single ballistari.
Two Ironstrider Ballistari have a 40% chance to kill a Hammerhead.
A Hammerhead has a 74.2% chance of killing 2 Hive Guard... if it could shoot them ever...
6 Hive Guard with their buffs have a 42.1% chance to kill a hammer head... without shooting twice... and without any synaptic buffs... and are indirect....
Sure some of these comparisons are a bit facetious. And sure, we don't know what other buffs the hammer head can get (Mont'ka for reroll ones to wound is good if you can get an angle on the right target, any other wound reroll would go a long way). But this isn't new. This sort of damage is already everywhere. And in much more reliable forms. And much harder to interact with forms...
When the Hammerhead whiffs, it does literally nothing. Maybe a wound or two with burst cannons if you roll real hot.
If the other units whiff they still usually bracket the hammerhead to a 4+ BS or 5+ BS.
Can we stop pretending this gun is some busted thing? Its not. It kills light tanks really well. Thanks to the EXCELLENT strat it gets access to I would not be surprised to see 1 Hammerhead showing up regularly. A single hammerhead will be a great anti-tank/anti infantry platform. But there are going to be quite a few good Tau shooting units in the heavy support slot. Its a direct fire, single shot, extremely high damage weapon. Its not the end of the world.
The hammerhead might lose fly ALA marine hov
... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβm recently getting back into my Necron collecting, and I was looking to pick up a few new units to add a little more anti tank to my lists.
My most frequent opponent is a Tau player, so I expect in a couple of weeks heβs going to become about 10 times stronger than he currently is. As such, I was hoping to pick up a few units that are a bit better at crunching up Hammerheads and Battlesuits at a distance. (At least we have Quantum Shielding to protect against the Hammerhead)
Now I already have a Triarch Stalker, which I am soon to be magnetising to let it swap between all three weapon options. However I am not sure what else I want to use.
I was torn between a pair of Canoptek Doomstalkers, babysat by a Technomancer, or trying to get my hands on a few Lockhurst Heavy Destroyers. Neither have access to Quantum Shielding, but with expansionists I can hide them both pre-turn One if I donβt get first turn, so thatβs not an issue for me.
Iβm drawn towards the Doomstalkers because while they are expensive with their babysitter, theyβre fairly tough with their Inv save and they have decent toughness and wounds to survive smaller arms fire. Theyβre also pretty quick if I need to move them to reposition, and on a smaller board 24β is fine. They also get D6 shots so that could get some decent numbers.
The Lockhurst on the other hand are much less survivable, but they are more mobile and somewhat easier to hide. The big thing that puts me off is that the Gauss Destructor is only one shot, so that could end up being a lot of points just to miss a shot and have them die afterwards. And whilst the Enmitic Exterminator is cool, itβs not really filling the gap I need. They also donβt benefit from Triarch Stalker holo-targeting because they already re-roll 1s.
Does anyone have any advice to offer on my decision here? Anyone got some good field testing out to offer up? Anything would be appreciated.
Is there a deal in the background where he's selling out Ukraine for geopolitical support elsewhere?
