A list of puns related to "Alexis Bledel"
I am almost done with my rewatch of the entire series and now I am here because I have THOUGHTS.
Starting with: why does it feel like Alexis (and only Alexis) is playing her character really differently than she does in the original series?
It feels like in the revival Rory has like...a different sense of humor? And it feels like so many of her lines end with her making what I can only describe as the emoji grimace face π¬ What is it that feels so different about her acting?
I know she has aged almost 10 years, her voice is naturally deeper and I think that plays a part since young Rory is so soft spoken. But am I wrong to think that her mannerisms are also really different? And if you see it, why do you think that is? I wonder if Alexis was intentionally trying to bring something different to the character, have her evolve a little.
For fans who might not know, Alexis is Mexican/Argentine-American. Her native language is Spanish! Sheβs actually pretending not to speak Spanish well during that scene in season 6 where she chats with Emilyβs maid Esperanza.
*Quick note due to a few comments- Iβm in no way, shape, or form saying that Rory Gilmoreβs character is a representation of Latin culture or that GG represented Latin culture well. My post is only about Alexis. Simply saying that I loved that the leading actress on one of my favorite shows growing up was Latin, like me!
sheβs great but the character herself. It makes sense that given how the town oddly worships her that sheβd feel entitled to easily gained success and balk at failure, but she seems bitchy to me? That part seems like such a departure paired with Alexisβ maturity in voice and presence. Feels jarring? Still love the actress just weirdes out by the writing and direction given to her I guess but maybe sheβs aged out of the cutesy demure antics and didnβt play up to them?
I know we're all fans of season 1 so in hopes of getting some positivity around here I thought I'd share my thoughts.
I though Alexis as Rory in season 1 had such a genuine and authentic quality to her character in season 1. I know it helped that she was 19 so a teen playing a teen usually is the most believable. But she had such a genuine reaction to everything to the point where it really did feel like I was watching someone's life.
Her pauses, quick wit, facial expressions, fashion and reactions all portrayed exactly what I'd imagine a smart quiet quirky girl would be like. I really wanted to be friends with her.
Share your (positive) thoughts :)
