The Incident on the Monon High Bridge: Conclusion, Part One - Who I Believe Murdered Abigail Williams and Liberty German, and Why

Q. Who murdered Abby Wiliams and Libby German?

A. I believe Abby Williams and Libby German were murdered by Brian Chadwell.

Q. Why?

A. Because he felt entitled to having access to their bodies, because he was angry that they didn't want to have sex with him, and I think because they resisted to a prohibitive degree when he tried to make them have sex anyway, and because that made him angry too. Another factor was that killing them would ensure a lack of witnesses.

Q. What led to him doing so?

A. Some of this is a little hazy but I suspect more details will solidify in time. I believe he had been camping near the Monon High Bridge trail for a short while - maybe hours, maybe days - and had seen kids come and go on the trail. He was also drunk, and being drunk tended to make him more likely to get violent; his impulse control was poor already but drinking absolutely obliterated it. I believe that at the moment of contact with the girls, he was drunk and possibly full of resentment for what he perceived as attractive young women, the sort he'd been seeing on the trail. I think a cycle like this - of falling off the wagon, of building resentment, and of culmination in explosive violence - was probably a common theme in his life but it tended not to end in sexual assault or murder, until it did. Which I think it did more than once; when I say it tended not to, I mean that most of his episodes did not end that way. But we can see at least two that did. More on that in a moment.

In any event, he was off the wagon and having intense emotional episodes; he does not say this specifically on his Facebook but once you learn what to look for in his other social media posts, it's not hard to see it around the time of the murders in Delphi. He makes rambling posts in which it’s clear he’s being overcome by intense emotions.

I think the girls came to his attention somehow on the trail. They may have run into him previously that day or possibly not. I don't believe he had been stalking them long-term or anything like that. They were alone on the trail and he saw a chance and took it. There may have been factors that influenced him to take action upon seeing these two but again it wasn't about them in particular, it was about opportunity.

I think he approached them with a story of some sort. It's not impossible he had a puppy under his jacket to show them. But if not, then what he probably said was that he needed help of some kind which req

(Plus/Minus Review) D’Angelo Russell led all players last night in "plus/minus" - notching a +36 in 33 minutes against the Lakers. The following players all led their respective teams –Curry, Crowder/Booker, Mobley/Garland, Bullock, Bridges, Simons, Jokic, Harden/Durant, Smart/Williams III

Note: This daily review captures and records the top individual +/- figures from each game from the previous day. Plus/minus is not a perfect statistic by any means, and it is often used as an index of individual performance like counting stats. That's NOT what I intend to do here. I think single game +/- figures can reflect interesting things that are not immediately obvious about games from the headlines. Which players made a two-way impact? Which players are part of particularly useful rotations? When did teams win games?

[Marks] 2017 draft class of Tatum, Adebayo, Mitchell & Fox set a league record signing $1 billion in rookie extensions. 2018's Ayton, Doncic, Young, SGA & MPJ account for $860 million. Add Bridges, Huerter, Sexton, DiVincenzo, Miles Bridges, Williams & Jackson, it's over $1.2 billion in extensions.

Source

>A year ago, the 2017 draft class -- led by Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Donovan Mitchell and De'Aaron Fox -- set a league record when it signed $1 billion in rookie extensions.

>That mark is expected to be smashed this offseason with the first-round picks selected in 2018.

>Ayton, Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Michael Porter Jr. alone account for $860 million in projected new money. Five players signing a rookie max extension would set the record for one offseason.

>Add Bridges, Kevin Huerter, Collin Sexton, Donte DiVincenzo, Miles Bridges, Robert Williams and possibly Jaren Jackson Jr. to that group and we could be looking at over $1.2 billion in extensions.

The bridge scene from William Friedkin’s Sorcerer is one of the most suspenseful things I’ve ever seen. It’s genius the way it draws you in

Here it is

For some context for those who haven’t seen this movie, these guys are transporting cases of old TNT that are so unstable they are swearing nitroglycerin. So any sudden move or disturbance can set off the explosives. And there’s no magic in this movie, Sorcerer is the name of one of the trucks carrying the volatile dynamite.

But damn this scene is intense, the sound design is perfect. I’m not exaggerating with what I said in the title, I can’t think of a more suspenseful scene than this.

What do you think?

LONG SHOT: LOST PADDLE on Alum Creek at Williams Road Bridge last Tues Aug 17

WANITAGO 90"-98" adjustable 3-pc paddle. My back "went out" when I stood up to exit the kayak that afternoon. When I went through a complicated procedure to get the kayak out without lifting it at all, I managed to forget an adjustable-length WANITAGO Paddle I had thrown into the tall weeds to the left while retrieving the 'yak. I discovered this when kayaking Buckeye Lake yesterday (luckily, I carry a spare), but not surprised the paddle wasn't under the Williams Rd Bridges at Three Creeks/Alum Creek when I drove over to check. Not a fancy or great paddle, but if you found it, it's mine! Thanks.

The Incident on the Monon High Bridge: The Immortal Bond of Abigail Williams and Liberty German

On Monday, February 13th, 2017, two teenage girls were dropped off to hike on the Monon High Bridge Trail in Deer Creek Township, Indiana. The girls were Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14. Abby and Libby (as they were known) took a few photos on the bridge, and some video which showed an unknown man walking on the bridge behind them. The girls were reported missing soon after. Their bodies were found near the bridge the next day.

This is a well-known case with a lot of people looking at it, so we open with Before We Begin, where I set some expectations as best I can.

Having done that, we lay out The Facts in the Case.

Subjects of previous series were people, and in one case a family, but The Subject this time is a friendship, and the two extraordinary people it belonged to.

There's very little publicly-known evidence in this incident, so in many ways this series is an exercise in how to attack a problem. One such way is to use Binary Thinking.

A theme that comes up a fair amount during this series is that people tell us things with the decisions they make and the actions they take. This can help us understand what happened, even when we can't really see what happened. We explore this in more depth in A Story, Not Told in Words. This gives us some of the important questions to focus on, to figure out what doors to open as we attempt to sort out what happened.

We only have a small amount of data with this incident, but we can use different techniques on the same data and flesh out the information there by hitting it from different angles. We do that in Deductions, Round One.

That raises some possible areas of investigation we then crack open in detail, in [Persons, of Interest and Otherwise](https://www.reddit.com/user/CliffTruxton/comments/qcweqb/the_incident_on_the_monon_high_bridge_persons_of
