A list of puns related to "Weapon System"
Plus, in Gears 5 those could be special (glowy, moving effects, etc), this is plain red. And in Gears 5, you could grind out a fair amount of skins for free.
Yes, H:I is โfree to playโ, but nearly all players of it are already dropping the $60 for campaign, or have GP where it wouldโve been included. The actual cost of it didnโt change for most people. (And Gears 5 was on GP too).
Each season we get a select few 'anti champion' mods for different weapons and it butchers creativity and individuality. It can make people use weapons they havent used before but that's not always a good thing.
For example this season is making me use bows and sometimes swords. Since launch IVE ALWAYS HATES BOWS.
Forcing me to use certain weapons to beat activities makes me hate this. Every time I'm forced to use swords, bows or sidearms I hate every second of it. It's not fun and it will never be fun for me.
This is the same issue prestige Leviathan raids had where you forced us to use loadouts and players hated it. This new system brings more leeway but still kills the fun.
Some players may like using any weapon but most people have a tier list of preferred weapons (not just meta). The further down the list you make us go the more we'll hate it.
I can deal with the extra long season fine but God damn it really shines a light on how truly un-fun Champion mods are.
Bow, Linear Fusion rifles, and auto rifles rifle that's it, over and over and over and over again.
Bows were never my thing and it gets old just chipping away at an enemy with them.
I like autos but in end game content they struggle to kill a single red bar (please buff them for the love of christ why does it take 2 clips to kill a single vandal?)
And linear fusions are fine I guess.
I don't even mind that there's an outlier weapon archetype due to a seasonal mod powering them up but there's no reason each champ mod can't be two weapon types.
Maybe it makes sense from a dev point of view, restricting what weapon types you can use = fun, but I promise that few if any players enjoy the dual primary meta, hell you tried it for a year when the game came out and we saw how badly that went but yet to insist on it for end game content.
Stop, just stop for the love of all that is holy I think you really over estimate what percentage of your playerbase has time and finds it fun to chip away at every single enemy at every encounter in a GM.
Challenging content good, tedious and restrictive game-play is not good it's a second job that I don't get paid for.
With how theyโve been releasing 4* weapons that match both visuals and stats to their designated characters, I canโt help but think they must be up to something.
^(*takes a big gulp of black coffee)
Even 4* characters get a weapon of the same principle (like Mitternachts Waltz for Fischl and Solar Pearl for Ningguang). They are locked behind a paywall (gacha and battle pass) but they do exist.
^(*chugs a whole can of energy drink)
Even some of the 3* weapons match some charactersโ though commonly frowned upon, weapons like Raven Bow, Messenger and Magic Guide snuggly match Amber, Ganyu and Sucrose.
^(*drinks a whole mug of beer)
So I think miHoYo is working on a system that would require the traveller to gift these particular weapons to their โrespectiveโ owners.
^(*inhales a tank of hopium)
Then that would unlock a personalized menu for that characterโs weapon. This could give way to certain potentials like: adding a stat specific to that characterโs niche (good for 3* weapons), raising those weaponsโ star-rate (3-4, 4-5). For 5* weapons like Staff of Homa [Hu Tao] and Primordial Jade Winged-Spear [Xiao], base stats could be increased for a reasonable percentages. Or, probably even, add one more star to their ratesโ similar to how Pri-Arm works in Honkai!
^(*snorts copious amounts of raw copium)
With this system live, Signora will surely be resurrected and become playable so that Frostbearer will be put to good use.
^(*becomes sober all of a sudden)
*incoherently sobs
There are lots of cool weapons in the game. It's really a shame that in the end you'll just end up using only one of them for each attribute. I really like the pipe weapons, they are a cool concept but the joy only lasts for a short while until you level up and get into higher tier weapons. There is no point at all using them after the first 10 hours or so. The same applies to every weapon that is not tier 3.
In my opinion, it would make the game more enjoyable and add much more longevity to the end-game if the earlier tier weapons remained viable options as you level up. Just like unlocking more weapons in multiplayer PVP shooters, new weapons are not always a direct upgrade to the old ones, they just offer new alternatives and playstyles.
For example, the shotguns. You could easily keep the tier 1/2 shotguns viable by making it so that the double-barrel has the highest damage per shot out of all shotguns. So it's the most economical to use. Pump-action could have exceptionally long range. And the auto-shotgun will of course have the highest dps and magazine capacity.
It gets boring especially on high difficulty settings where you somewhat have to min/max your stats to be limited to only one weapon for the rest of the game.
I know it's an old topic, but while waiting for the sequal I keep thinking of what they will do to the weapon system in the next game. Personally, I like botw's durability concept. It encourges more exploration, making receiving a new weapon item feel rewarded. However, I have to admit, I do enjoy using the durability transfer glitch sometimes. It makes up for the dissatisfaction of the royal guard's weapon set and such, that I can't help but question if there's a better way to do this. What do you guys think?
So I have had an idea in my head on writing up a rebalance pass on some of the weakest (and possibly a few of the outstandingly strong) parts of lancer.
Stuff like the Flak Launcher system, which is a specialized anti flier system that does nothing if a flyer's usual best stat, agility, successfully saves.
Hunter Nexus is another one that usually gets called out, because it has nothing it does that a pair of light nexi dont do better.
What other weapons and systems are weak?
I know China has something similar. Apparently non-AEGIS destroyers, frigates and DDH in Japanese service has their indigenous system. Although in either case, not sure if it can counter ballistic missile.
