I think water lilies would be a great plant to see added to Minecraft in the Wild Update. With everyone talking about the potential for cattails and since the community has spotted water lilies in some Wild Update Concept art, I think they're worth talking about. We already have lily pads in game, so water lilies would be a perfect fit.
I see so many clever players attempt to create water lilies with coral, trapdoors, planks, and item frames, but these techniques typically don't work on Bedrock platforms and coral can be a challenge to get in survival mode. Add to this that immersion effect is broken as soon as you swim under the water and see what lies beneath those flowers. Since we still aren't sure of what particular parity changes are coming in the Wild Update, I think it's time water lilies became an actual flower in game.
Water lilies would spawn on top of the water, around or on top of lily pads in Swamp Biomes. These flowers would come in three colors, white, blue, and pink and could be used to create the respective dyes. They could also be used to make a Lily shaped Banner Symbol. When bonemealed water lilies will extend outwards creating more lily pads as well as water lilies.
If added water lilies would be the first and only flower that grows on the surface of the water, giving players more plant life options for their ponds as well as bringing more life to the Swamp Biome.
