A list of puns related to "Veeam Backup & Replication"
I have several hundred Veeam Backup & Replication installs that are ranging from v9.5u4 to v10. I'm trying to figure out a way to automate the upgrade process to v11. Does anyone know of a "simple" way that I'm obviously missing?
I've tried the unofficial powershell upgrade script but it only works a slim percentage of the time. Often times it will error out on a prerequisite not being installed. Doesn't seem to be the same software missing each time either so it can be a pain to troubleshoot.
I know you can mass upgrade Veeam agents via the Veeam Service Provider Console. Does anyone know a way to mass upgrade Backup & Replication installs?
Side note - In the past I've written an VBR v11 fresh install script so I'm aware of all the prerequisites needed. I'm just trying to avoid writing my own solution.

What to chose veeam backup & replication or veritas backup exec? And what's the main difference between them??
I am looking into Veeam for backup and replication. I have read that you cannot replicate which a backup is happening. Is that correct? If so, how do people deal with that?
We have servers with huge churn and Full backups take up to 2 days. Would the VM simply not replicate for 2 days? How is this a good solution?
Would it be wise to keep Zerto for DR and just use Veeam for backups?
I've got backup and replication for vmware. I've got 2 esxi hosts. Both hosts have two physical processors. My veeam license is for 4 sockets. I replaced one of the hosts with another host that has two physical processors. Its 32 core per processor, but still only two sockets. Now, veeam backup and replication refuses to backup any vm that is running on the new host. the error: "Unable to process the VM. Your socket license has been exceeded. Install an extended license..." I've rescanned my vcenter from veeam and rebooted the veeam server. Still, no joy. I've opened a ticket with veeam, but thought I'd see if anyone here has had a similar experience.

Hi all,
I know of several SaaS services such as BackupRadar which parse and monitor email alerts for backups.
I wondered if anyone on this sub had created a system to auto-parse emails for Veeam B&R and Veeam Agent? We are currently looking into Microsoft Flow as this is provided within our 365 tenancy.
Hello,
I'm reseller and I have a problem with multiples customers.
The merge after the backup can take more than 24 hours.
How to optimize this ?
Thanks a lot,
Chris

Hi, we're testing Veeam Backup & Replication through the free Community Edition. Does anyone know if there's a way to exclude directories from full server backup jobs?
I read that this should be done in the "Guest Processing" step in the wizard (VM Guest OS File Exclusion under application processing options) but I don't see the option for it there.
It seems Veeam finally changed their mind with B&R Update 4. Veeam B&R Free Edition now changes to Veeam B&R Community Edition which now allows to use full Veeam B&R Standard Edition functionality on the amount of 10 instances, which could be a variation of possibilities, for exmaple (the following are just examples, there can be a lot more combinations as long as 10 instances are not exceeded):
With Standard Edition instances, VMs consume 1 instance per VM, Server agents consume 3 instances per server, and Workstation agents consume 1 instance per workstation.
It's all for free and Veeam ZIP still got no limitations on the amount of VMs mentioned above.
This is something I personally appreciate a lot as I had planned to change to jump from Veeam B&R Free Edition to Synology Active Backup for Business (which has no(!) lincense limitations, btw.) because those full-and-no-scheduled-backup-limitations of Veeam ZIP made me sick for my homelab.
I don't know what exactly changed their mind in Veeam's lab. Maybe they realized that other vendor's backup software can really turn into a serious competitor very quickly especially focussed on small businesses. But in the end I don't really care as for me and my homelab this is very good news and prevents me from changing to unknown backup software fields.
So for all homelab and very small business users using VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V, it is possible now to run incremental and scheduled backups on all of your VMs via GUI as long as you are not backing up more than 10 instances.
Cheers!
I have been searching online but so far haven’t found an answer.
I saw somewhere saying it can do over 255 characters but nothing specific to the actual length it supports.

Hi all,
Im trying out the free community edition of Veeam BR right now and so far it works great to my NAS. But what about external cloud repositories?
If I try to add an external repository and then choose "Manage cloud accounts" it automatically wants AWS credentials. Does that mean AWS is the only supported cloud storage for the Community Edition?
Hi,
I wish to share with you mobile application for Veeam Backup & Replication. Its name is Weeatcher. Weeatcher is powered by Veeam Enterprise Manager RESTful API. We are small team of enthusiasts and we distribute the app for free.

Have a customer running FreeNAS on Hyper-V with 2x 4TB directly attached disks to the FreeNAS VM in Hyper-V.
I can't seem to find any logical way of replicating this data to our Veeam Cloud Connect repository. I've installed Veeam Backup & Replication but it's not detecting the two directly attached disks within the VM and is only backing up the main VM itself :(
I am transitioning from my aging, past-EOL WHS 2011 to a new unRAID server, and am looking for something to replace the WHS client backup service (which I thankfully only had to use a couple of times for a restore, but worked flawlessly when I needed it). So far Veeam looks like it should fit the bill.
We have 6 Windows desktop/laptops at home and I'm wondering if the Veeam Agent for Windows Free installed on each machine is enough, backing up to a network share, or if there is a compelling reason to spin up a VM to run B&R CE? I just want scheduled backups for each machine that I can easily restore from if a drive dies.
Thanks for any input!
