I am a dental hygiene student who is looking for patients! If you have the time, you are reliable, and fully vaccinated (at least 2 weeks since 2nd dose) with a physical CDC vaccination card - you have an opportunity to receive this service (that includes - Blood pressure screening, extra-oral & intra-oral cancer screening, dental mapping, periodontal charting, hand / ultrasonic scaling & root planning (aka - 'deep clean'), polishing, fluoride treatment, plaque-scoring with oral hygiene instructions)... All this goodness - for $20 (cash, to the department), or $10 for seniors.
If needed - radiographs (you will receive your digital copy), Arestin, and sealant placement - also available.
List of Fees (due to COVID, no treatments for children until further notice)
List of Fees (due to COVID, no treatments for children until further notice)
There is no need for insurance or even being legal.
What you need to know - It is a commitment: You will have to show up to your appointment in a timely manner (of course - **NO '**no-shows' / last-minute cancellations, as these - in 99% - will not allow us to re-assign the time-slot with another patient, and we will get a score of ZERO for the day. Cancellations - 4 days in advance, at least). The appointments are technically 4 hours each (in reality - most times, you will be released after 3 hours). There is no way to tell you the number of meetings you will need before meeting for assessments. Generally speaking -
When a patient presents a βlightβ case of calculus deposits & gingivitis, they will most likely be done within 1-2 sessions.
If the patient presents with a βmediumβ case of calculus deposits & a mild periodontal disease, they will most likely be done within 2-3 sessions.
If the patient presents with a βheavyβ case of calculus deposits & a severe periodontal disease - they might have to commit for 3-5 sessions β all depending on how complex and/or stubborn the calculus deposits are.
All treatments are supervised by the faculty, including dentists and specialists that can advise in case of any findings.
If you are interested, or know someone who might be - please email me for availability and more -

Hi, r/sandiego! Your friendly neighborhood dental hygiene student here to spread the word about my school's FREE clinic at our National City campus! My final semester is approaching and I am looking for more patients who are due for a teeth cleaning. All treatment provided is supervised by registered dental hygienists and dentists!
Services offered:
Patients will first come in for a screening appointment that is 1-1.5 hours long where we will go over your medical/dental history and take any x-rays that the dentist prescribes. Once approved as a patient, I will be able to schedule you for your cleaning. Cleaning appointments are 3 hours and 15 minutes long and how many appointments you will need depends on how much tartar and plaque build up you have. I will let you know about how many appointments your cleaning will take at your screening appointment, but it ranges from 1-3 visits.
Keep in mind that this cleaning will be much more in depth than what you are typically used to in a dental office, and everything needs to be checked off by my instructors. You are "paying" with your time and patience π
DM me or comment if you're interested! Thanks for your time -Whitney A.

I feel like there is a disproportionate amount of hyperpop songs that reference bleeding gums and teeth in generell. What do you think?
If you show up and they discover invasive work that needs to be done i.e root canal, cavity, crowns, ect they will recommend someone who is very affordable and works with people who donβt have insurance.
Thanks in advance.
I got a bachelor's in dental hygiene in Minnesota and have since moved to Texas, still working as a dental hygienist. But oh man am I burnt out. When I was applying to the program they made it sound like a bachelor's would be great to have and fall back on, but I can't even find jobs that it would apply to!
Has anyone had anything similar? What did you do? I would love to work from home and would even take a pay cut (I am assuming I'll have to)
I have applied to the dental hygiene program at VCC and I have heard it's quite competitive, what would be the competitive gpa in order to get in?
I have A.D.D. and I am a slow learner and I have been finacially on my own since 18. So I would like to learn everything I can about being a dental hygienist before going to school to be one so I won't fail my classes. Is there somewhere where I can buy old text books cheaply to at least get the basics down? Or maybe a website so I won't be overwhelmed when going back to school. I have already taken an allied health course and was accepted into the dental assistant program at my local college I just couldn't afford to go and had to defer. This was a few years ago and I have since decided that I want to skip that chapter of my life and just leap to the part where I go to school to be a dental hygienist. Originally I wanted to become family with working in a dental office and that type of environment by working as an assistant but I almist 30 now and life is finite. I can't keep stumbling. I need to save up money for school. I want to make sure that I won't have any reason to fail again that is why I need to learn everything I can before I go back to school so I will pass all my classes for sure the first time around. Thank you any tips and advice are welcomed and appreciated.
Hi! Before I begin, please remember to be kind. I'm always looking for ways to improve and would love some feedback at the moment. I'm truly embarrassed of my position at the moment. I've looked up how I can take care of my teeth but I would love some personalized recco's as well.
A bit about me: 24F. I've always had bad teeth and bad brushing habits. In the past, I've always had 1 or 2 minor cavities after a check up, and sometimes none at all.
I hadn't gone to a dentist since Oct 2020. In Oct 2020, I had a cleaning done, checkup (including 1 filling), and had a wisdom tooth removed. One of the wisdom tooth removal was very traumatic and I have been scared of going back ever since. Also, my old dentist was very creepy and I used to be very uncomfortable with him.
In the past year, I've taken more steps to take care of my dental hygiene. Up until 2 years ago, I used to be very irregular of brushing twice a day and rarely flossed. In the past 1-2 years, I've stepped up my game. Brushing twice daily and flossing more frequently (not as much as I should be, but more). I also heavily cut down on my sugar and alcohol intake. I also started subbing sugar with xylitol this past year. Not saying this is the reason I justified not going, but just providing you a bit of a background on how I have been taking care of my teeth.
Current situation: I switched to a new dentist. She is a lot nicer and it doesn't hurt as much when I go to here. She said I had 7 cavities originally, a few of them deep. A few were around my old fillings. Today was supposed to be my last session but she said she found 2 more during today's session. I have NEVER had this many cavities within a year of having my past checkup.
What I'm asking:
I need some serious tips on what to do to maintain my health or improve. Here are some things I've started doing:
Any suggestions on what I can do to ensure that I don't get as many more cavities? I'm not sure at this point it's too late for me and my teeth, but anything would help. Thank you!
Hello Everyone!
My Girlfriend is seeking X-Ray Patients (Volunteers) for her Dental Hygiene School at Moreno Valley College. A full mouth series of X-Ray's can cost $100-$200 but she is doing them for FREE! To Qualify you need to not have had any dental X-ray's in the past 3 years. You also need to have a current or previous dentist office. The X-Ray's will be taken on 11/17 @ 1 - 3pm at Moreno Valley College at the dental clinic. Please Message me or comment if you are interested, it would really be helpful to her!
Thank You!
I had spent a lot of time "not-loving-myself-enough", the state of my mouth is quite less than ideal. Didn't take care of it for too long, genetics and personal habits didn't help it either.
Now I'm looking to find a way to fix it, totally. Don't know how, but I've got an appointment this Tuesday with our family dentist, I'll see how it goes.
All that being said, truthfully, ever since I've heard there are multiple thousands times more living organisms in our mouth than there are in our anus. I felt somewhat relieved, combined with a hint of disgust (no matter how much we try to keep it "clean", there are still tens of thousands of them). But also, kissing someone became even more an intimate act; exchanging faunas better be considered.
But also, giving a blowjob, became a lot more okay thing to do; "multiple thousands more" makes the mouth, "the most unclean" part of our bodies.
Lastly, just now I confess that it feels like someone with a great set of teeth would/could/should not feel safe/comfortable enough to kiss me, let alone decide to get in a relationship with me. Tho, maybe in a love based relationship, many things can be curable.
Thank you for reading my stream of consciousness, and thank you in advance for your comments, advices, guidance.
Obviously our patients struggle with some areas more than others.
What do you find the most effective method for prevention of calculus buildup on the lingual of the mandibular incisors? Is an Oral B more effective than a sonicare because of the smaller rounder head? Is it mostly prevented by C-shaped flossing?
Graduated a few years ago and I would love to hear your thoughts.
