A list of puns related to "United States Armed Forces oath of enlistment"
"I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;"
Does the "domestic" part of this line also apply to people in the government whether it be in Congress or the White House, or are they exempt from it?
Hi! I'm doing research for a paper on military oaths and am having trouble tracking down the RoK Armed Forces Oath. The best I can find is either the Pledge of Allegeiance or references to the military oath being revised. It seems the Pledge was revised to remove reference to the Korean race in 2007 (source), but the military oath was only similarly revised in 2011 (source).
Do officers and enlisted take the same oath?
Can someone provide the text of the military oath(s)?
Thank you for your help.
I am not a US resident, citizen, tourist, work or study permit holder. I have spent less than 4 hours in a US airport during a layover when flying between two counties. And that was 6 years ago, and I never left the airport.
But, I want to strong desire to enlist in a military branch of the USA armed forces. Preferably the U.S. Marine Corps or the U.S. Army.
Why? Because I feel like joining the military is my calling. Why the U.S. military? Because, as many flaws the US government has and has had, I think the principles and foundational values of the United States set a strong positive example for the whole world. And fighting for THOSE values, irrespective of where I was born, would be something I am very interested in doing.
I know many will disagree with the above, but I prefer not to turn this thread into a political/philosophical discussion, and would appreciate if replies are relevant to the original question.
About me: a naturalized citizen of a NATO county in his mid 30s with no prior military experience.
Short of marrying a US citizen with the sole end goal of enlisting in the military, what are my options?
