A list of puns related to "Umpire Decision Review System"
Third umpire interventions clause in CA playing conditions
The third umpire may intervene and stop play to allow the investigation of any out or not out decision where, based on all available evidence, it appears to the third umpire that the original decision may have been incorrect and/or warrants such investigation. The intervention shall be communicated to the on-field umpires as soon as possible, but must be done before the next delivery becomes live or the outgoing batsman has left the field of play.
Chris Hartley: Umpires are placed under undue pressure by players who try to persuade them to have a second look. At present, the third umpire is coaxed into reviewing a decision by the players reaction. Players, as they always have and always will, use gamesmanship. But what is happening at the moment is a case of players hanging around after being dismissed, which is technically bordering on dissent. It's not a good look, seeing the batsman throw his head back, stand his ground, shake his head, trudge off slowly or look around for a replay screen.
George Bailey: It's just shocking, it's embarrassing, it needs to worked out. I think it confuses the players, I think it confuses the umpires. I think leave it in the hands of the players. You get two, if you use them with bad reviews then so be it.
Darren Berry: The problem this year is that almost every appeal made by the fielding team is causing angst, time wasting and is reflecting poorly on the game. Equally batsmen being dismissed when they feel aggrieved at the decision are taking an eternity to leave the field hoping and allowing the third umpire time to review the decision... This has created so much grey area and inconsistency in the process, clearly evident in the recent Queensland versus Tasmania game in Hobart. Some batsmen who were, on replay, in fact out lbw were not reviewed, then, out of the blue, Queensland batsman Peter Forrest was given not out lbw by the field umpire only then to be reviewed and overturned by the third umpire.
Imagine if the hawkeye says ball was just touching the stumps, it would have been called as umpires decision which was considered as not out even though umpire had given him out in the first place.
Likewise few overs after Ashwin got an lbw appeal turned down. If umpire thought that there was an inside edge involved and so he made the decision, but replays clearly showed that there was no inside edge. Don't you guys think umpires should explain why they thought what they thought giving the decision? Like Ashwin appealed for lbw, umpire should say "not out because of the inside edge, otherwise it would ve hit the stumps". Why do you guys think?
If weβre going to criticise them when they do badly letβs praise them when they do well.
It could be daily, weekly, or monthly changes. But this would reward good umpires quicker without having to wait for the older ones to retire in the Majors. This would also encourage those in the Majors to tighten up so that they stay in The Show. Obviously the Union would fight this, but if they agree do you think it would work better than it is today or better than robo-umps? Thoughts?
I remember the lbw from the 2019 ashes match where England won by 1 wicket and srokes lbw was turned down by the umpire and it showed 3 reds

For some reason umpires rarely let this one go, I think this is like the first instance this year where I've seen an umpire hold the whistle for a player who gets legitimately tackled but then ducks or raises the tackler's arm to manipulate a free kick. This IMO is the definition of cheating in sports and more umpires need to be willing to not call this and let it play on.

Edit: I appreciate all the kind feedback. Thanks everyone. Some people are having an issue with the black screen. I am looking into this.
Edit 2: Hey Everyone, I may have found a fix for the game not responding or getting stuck. Try not to put this game/extract the zip file in your 'Program files' folder in C: drive. It writes some data on the disc and writing in 'Program files' folder requires some admin permissions. I tried this on my PC and it got stuck too and I couldn't get past the pause screen. Please put this folder in another drive if possible or outside Program files/ Program files(x86) folder. This might be a temporary fix. I will update the game so that it writes to the Documents folder instead (which doesn't require admin permissions).
Please comment if this still doesn't work. Thanks again.
When the DRS is taken for LBW, the third umpire asks for seeing the front foot then goes on to ask for "front on spin vision". What is the meaning of all these terms, especially 'spin'?
So much discussion is had about how bad umpiring can be and especially when key decisions are wrong. But honestly there is so much going on and the rule changes often seem to consider umpiring of the change last.
I compare to stuff like soccer where the tough decision is often are these guys in line or did he catch the guy with a bad tackle and they get to rewatch if they need. Meanwhile our umps get major rule changes regularly which are being adapted to by teams on the run.
For me, its a tough gig with not much thanks. Why would anyone do it honestly?
