Only had two, both in the prelims. Interesting and exciting in that they are both exotic variations of high percentage submissions.

David Dvorak - One Arm Rear Naked Choke

Ronderos shoots for a takedown and Dvorak takes double underhooks and uses a shallow underhook to shuck elbow to elbow upwards to expose and take the back. Dvorak immediately inserts a near hook and same side choking arm. Ronderos’ primary defensive hand and arm are not defending Dvorak is able to sink in a deep choke with the choking elbow aligned with the chin, hand behind the shoulder and chin tucked on the shoulder.

They break down to a hip on the same side of the choke and Dvorak has superior position and is able to maintain with ease. He takes the non choking arm and controls the same side arm from underneath to prevent/slow rotation. He upgrades from a single hook to two hooks.

Ronderos, due to having his back taken, has his feet accessible to the ground to change hip base. He attempts the other side but Dvorak maintains the orientation of the choke (head on one side, choking arm on other) and chokes him out with one arm. The mechanic is to squeeze and retract the choking elbow backwards while maintaining orientation.

Ben Rothwell - 10 Finger Guillotine Choke

Barnett shoots a desperation double leg and gets sprawled on by Rothwell. Rothwell converts into an aggressive front head which converts into a 10 finger guillotine. Barnett tries to unsuccessfully spin out of the choke but his head is stuck on the chest of Rothwell. This is one of the few variants of guillotines where no cross control is needed on the body (meaning if you have a left handed guillotine, you would minimally require controlling the right side of their lower body (from your perspective) to minimise movement.
