Anyone else unable to get their magnesium levels up consistently? My histamine related symptoms are very well managed mostly with cromolyn sodium and diet but I still have gut motility issues and fatigue.
For some reason I have to take 200-300mg magnesium a day to feel normal. Anything that increases the need for magnesium sends me into deficiency, two weeks of 2,000 IU vit D induced severe deficiency.
It's frustrating because when I take it during the day it messes with my motility and causes food to get stuck in my stomach even when taken a couple hours before eating. Then taking it at night causes crazy dreams and I have to wake up and pee a lot so I get poor sleep, although I wake up in a better mood than usual. When I completely stop taking it I get extremely fatigued and depressed, memory problems, muscle twitching and cramps but my gut motility improves significantly. Is this an MCAS thing or just totally unrelated?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hi there. I'm living with SIBO for 15 months since taking Amitriptyline, a TCA, took it for just 2 months. It's known to reduce motility, stomach acid and bile production. Guess what, perfect recipe for SIBO (could it be SIFO, could it be mold toxicity, could it be candida, could it be h pilory?) For the circumstances I guess it's SIBO.
I have a list of ~40 symptoms which varies from physical, mental and digestive ones. Some examples are:
Physical: dry skin, mouth and hair / no sebum production / strong body odor / muscle twitching all day long / hair loss and thinning / bad teeth / itchy scalp and skin throughout the body / loss of weight / loss of muscle / 90yo's sexual functioning // many others
Mental: Poor memory / brain fog / strong apathy / anhedonia / loss of emotions processing (extremely numb and blunted) / moderate DP;DR / ZERO libido // many others
Digestive: constipation and diarrhea alternating / yellow feces / bloating /gut pain and inflammation / belching / abdominal distension / food allergies / undigested food // etc
My body is deteriorating and I can't even know what to do and what to treat or test. I'm Brazilian and we don't have nice support over here regarding SIBO, no doctor knows it here.
I made a lot of research by my own and found some alternatives. But we don't even have the right supps over here, and supps that seem to help people around the world are from other places and VERY expensive, honestly, spending 3k per month in good supplements is not a possibility.
I would PLEASE like to know if I could cure this disease without antibiotics and antimicrobials. I'm in a really bad shape. Total dispair as common over here, and the cherry of the cake is that I don't even live in a better reality. Enough is enough tbh, I'm seriously contemplating...
And unfortunately I mean CURE, because I can't manage to live through this misery without being able to be myself again fully. I don't have support. My family thinks I am making it up and the ONLY resource I have is my bad English and worldwide help. PLEASE! :(

“Commander Strk’t?” Xrt’ltx asked as he entered the commander’s office.
The commander was busy over yet another report justifying more equipment and was not in the best of moods. If Central didn’t want to supply them with four times the usual required items then perhaps they should not send item types that oxidized so quickly to a world that was over ninety percent surface water. He lifted his attention from yet another description of metal rusting out and tried to look attentive for the young anthropologist.
“Yes?” He replied.
“I had an odd conversation with one of the humans,” Xrt’ltx began uneasily.
“That describes most interactions with giant, bipedal mammals with underdeveloped self preservation instincts,” Strk’t said in a flat tone. “Is there a reason you came to me about it?”
Xrt’ltx shifted uneasily on his six motile legs and waved a gripper in confirmation.
“You would most likely know whether a human was making a threat or expressing concern,” Xrt’ltx said.
“If it was one of the humans on this base he was expressing concern,” Strk’t said with a dismissive wave. “They consider us to be ‘cute’ and ‘adorable’. Our eye to head ratios are so far into their neonatisim triggers that we get the benefit of them instinctively wanting to protect us. Once the horror wears off that is.”
Xrt’ltx looked the opposite of enlightened but Prime Cluster be Fragmented if Strk’t was going to bother expanding on human behavior if he could help it. They young anthropologist finally decided to leave it at that and went on.
“I was invited to partake in a human recreational activity,” he continued, “but the human expressed, or at least I think that was his meaning, that the forces I would be exposed to would cause dismemberment.”
“They asked if you could regenerate limbs?” Strk’t asked with an amused twitch to his upper mandibles.
“Yes!” Xrt’ltx seemed relieved that Strk’t recognized the behavior.
“What activity did they invite you to?” Strk’t asked.
“Water skiing,” Xrt’ltx replied.
“Oh yeah,” Strk’t said with a wave of confirmation. “That one will rip your gripping appendages right off.”

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
