At 7.00 a.m., tropical cyclone YAAS is due at latitude 18.0 degrees north, longitude 88.2 degrees east. It is moving north-northwest with maximum sustained winds of about 90 km/hr, expectedly, to make landfall over Orissa and Calcutta state, India by tomorrow (26 May 2021). The southwest monsoon across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will intensify with heavy to very heavy rains in southern provinces: Ranong, Phang-nga, Phuket and Krabi. People in the South should beware of the severe conditions. The strong winds force the waves up to 2-4 meters in the Andaman Sea and above 4 meters in thundershowers. In the upper Gulf, the waves are forecast about 2 meters high. In the lower Gulf, the waves are 1-2 meters high and in thundershowers about 2 meters high. All ships in the Andaman Sea keep ashore while the rest proceed with caution.
