A list of puns related to "TorqueFlite"
Hello fellow Ram enthusiasts. Maybe this isn't the right place to ask but I've an issue perhaps someone else has experienced? My truck makes a howling/whining noise when I am decelerating after the transmission downshifts to accommodate for engine braking. I've have my truck for about 4 years and it's been happening for as long as I can remember. Not particularly getting worse. When I shift the transmission into neutral, the noise disappears.
A while ago the seal from the rear diff to the driveshaft was leaking and I replaced it, drained fluid, opened the cover to inspect, sealed and refilled. I've also done a transmission fluid change recently which had noticeably positive effects on shifting. Today I will be servicing the front diff among other things.
I was wondering if someone might be able to give me an idea where to start diagnosing this issue? The noise stopping upon shifting into neutral makes me think it's transmission related but I'm not an expert here..any help appreciated! Thanks.
I need the parking lock cable for a 727 torqueflite. Anyone know where I can get one? Thank you.
How can I identify what torqueflite I have? Do the numbers on the bellhousing mean anything? In my case 753-5.
Hi,
I have an old low mileage Jensen that has been in storage for about 40 years. It has a carburated chrysler 361 V8 with a torqueflite transmission. The condition is currently unknown as I have been busy with bodywork and chassis so far. How I would go about finding out what still works and what needs replacement?
I always worked on my own cars, but I never had to go to an engine's internals. Of course I can strip it down, clean it and replace all gaskets and suspicious parts, but I would feel better having a checklist to determine what does or doesn't need attention as an orientation/guide.
And what should I expect? Is it possible or common for engines to have rust issues on the inside if the cooling hoses have been removed?
I have some clues regarding troubleshooting the engine, but absolutely no idea how to diagnose an automatic transmission. I have a specialist workshop for older american engines and transmissions nearby and they quoted me about 10k euros to rebuild both engine and trans. I've seen the machines that the shop works with, and my possibilities are on a hilbilly level in comparison, but I didn't buy a project car to have everything done by someone else (good to have backup though).
Is there a reputable dealer for parts? With the whole mopar naming scheme it's hard to distinguish between OEM, aftermarket/performance and chinesium parts. I have to stay mostly close to OEM because of german oldtimer regulations, but I don't expect everything to be still available.
Thanks in advance for any hints!
I have been doing a bit of research into the subject already, but wanted to reach out to the good folks of r/mechanicsadvice to see if anyone had specific suggestions as to which rebuild manual I should get for a Chrysler A727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission out of a 1979 International Scout.
I am helping a friend do a rebuild on their Scout and we are getting to the point of getting around to fixing the issue of the transmission.
He reports that there are no issues with the transmission, other than when it is put in park, it doesn't actually engage and is more or less in neutral.
Admittedly this is the first automatic transmission I've taken on, but I do have a few friends in the auto maintenance industry who are willing to help with guidance. I have access to a full auto shop of tools, a full airframe/powerplant shop of tools and have a decent collection myself.
Any guidance or resources would be greatly appreciated!
I have a vehicle with a old torqueflite 727 trans and my reverse will work decent after the truck is warm, when its cold it won't backup at all normally, but after its warm when its backing up sometimes its like it starts to slow down and slip when i press the gas when its backing up, but if i put the truck in 4wd low it will back up perfect but in 4 high it has the same issues, does this sound like a broken reverse servo possibly? Thanks for the help in advance. I recently adjusted the reverse band but i did not have the 5/16 torque wrench i needed so i just snugged it and it helped it engauges better when it actually engauges but when cold it just wont go anywhere in reverse still all forward gears are fine and shift fine.
I have an 87 Ramcharger that I just want to put a 440 in, and unless I've read wrong, they use the same 727 transmission. Also, I understand the 727 came in an A or B. Can someone explain what the difference is?
Can someone decipher what these key differences in the new 22 Promaster's mean on performance and specifically possible improvement in MPG? One article states possible 9% improvement in fuel economy. Does that seem realistic and possible? (Not familiar with mechanics of vehicles.)
I'm deciding between waiting for a new 22, buying a new 21, or buying a slightly used 17-21 with low miles & single owner. Goal is to use it both as a primary vehicle and for road trips after converting it (long weekends and 1-2 week trips throughout the year). Any advice on that? Located in CA where gas is $$$.
From article 1:
The big drivetrain change comes in the form of a new transmission with three more gears. A 948TE TorqueFlite nine-speed automatic transmission replaces the 62TE six-speed automatic transmission, and brings with it a lower final-drive ratio (4.08:1) than before (3.86:1).
Electric rack-and-pinion power steering replaces the hydraulic system and allows for variable amounts of steering assistance, while likely improving fuel economy by eliminating the power steering pump.
From article 2: (Detroitnews.com)
Meantime, the gas-powered ProMaster gets a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine and nine-speed transmission offering 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, according to the company. It has up to 6,910 pounds of towing capability, 4,680 pounds of payload and 463 cubic feet of cargo space. The powertrain offers an up to 9% improvement in fuel economy.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
It really does, I swear!
