A list of puns related to "Top Gear (2002 TV series)"
With the possible exclusion of the first couple of series, where the show was still finding its feet, I really do think this is true. And I donβt just mean in its genre, I am including all TV shows.
Firstly, the chemistry between the three hosts is almost unrivalled. The way which they work together is incredible and I am yet to see anything which can come close. I think this is in a large part down to the fact that any two of the hosts could work well together.
Secondly, the show brought together many genres of TV. Of course its premise was cars, but into this it weaved a huge variety of different content, for example comedy, documentary, travel, and engineering, to mention a few. Not to mention the celebrity guests. In this way, it catered for everyone.
Thirdly, it was all very high quality, and original. The three really did know their stuff when it came to cars, making it high quality. They also didnβt really copy anyone, and their content was varied and original.
Ultimately, it took perhaps a relatively esoteric topic and turned it into a show that even someone who had no interest in cars could happily watch.
I am aware that not many people will agree with me here, but this is a subreddit for unpopular opinions.
Edit: Lots of people are saying that this isnβt an unpopular opinion, I would just like to clarify that I am not saying that top gear is just a good show, I am saying that it is the best TV show of any genre, ever. If that part is not unpopular then the world is a significantly better place than I thought it was.
In 2002, Warner Brothers and Ronald D. Moore had completed sets and casting for a pilot episode, and were within a few days of filming. Moore had sent the pilot episode to Warners for final approval. It was returned with so many changes to the basic structure of Pern that it no longer much resembled the world created by Anne McCaffrey. As a fan of the Dragonriders of Pern series, Moore refused to continue.
I can find news articles diving into Moore talking about the project when it was still in production as well as updates on Moore quitting and the project being cancelled, but that's about it.
Apparently a pilot episode was written, sets were built and casting was (being) done. That's a lot of stuff that I can't find any info on. Does anyone know more about the story, the cast, photos of the sets, etc.?
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone has all the top gear episodes featuring the iconic 3 of Clarkson, Hammond, and May. I got amazon prime just to watch The Grand Tour, but I would love to be able to watch all the old top gear episodes
There doesn't seem to be actual titles for most the episodes of Top Gear so I created my own to use as file names. I spent upwards of 10 hours doing all the series' (seasons). I thought I would share so someone else doesn't have to do the same. You can copy & paste right from here to your files or PM me for a Word doc or PDF version. They wouldn't all fit in one post so this series 7-21. A link to series 1-6 will be in the comments as soon as its posted.
I also created my own version of short hand but its exceedingly simple..
Road Test cars go first in title
Star in a Reasonably Priced Car (SiC) goes last in title
to be considered a "special" it must have no other segments
; to seperate segments
vs. is only used when a race occurs
~ indicates a car tested against another i.e. McLaren MP4-12C ~ Ferrari 458
` + means "Traveled to" i.e. Jeremy+Spain
(RT) means Road Trip

... keep reading on reddit β‘Let's start by the beggining:
In 2002, the BBC made a reboot of Top Gear, that was running since 1977. The episodes were broadcasted on BBC2.
Now, there was an individual, nickname Jabba355 (or just Jabba) who recorded Top Gear (and other car shows) since the 90's
In 2003's Series 2 there was a contest named "Greatest Car", which consisted on the presenters and famous people showing a car, and saying why they thought it was the greatest car. Viewers voted calling to a certain telephone number depending on the car.
Jabba recorded these episodes and uploaded them to the internet, albeit with horrble compression and a watermark (you even had to pay for some).
Now we fast forward a little bit to 2005, when these episodes were re-aired in BBC Prime. Another individual known as "Maxiuca" recorded them and uploaded them. Most people replaced Jabba's recordings without knowing the BBC Prime ones were incomplete and with the soundtrack changed, and then most of Jabba's recordings were lost.
Now, some of the episodes were found, and also some "standalone" segments on youtube or websites such as finalgear.
These episodes won't be released complete by the BBC because of the copyrighted music (Both DVD and IPlayer, already emailed them and got that answer)
Here is a mega folder with the found episodes
And here is a discord server which is related to this search (not mine, but I am part)
EDIT: Here is an article in the LMW talking about this in more detail!
And that's all, thanks for reading!
Y: The Last Man was a really interesting comic at the time.
This was 2002, the Vertigo imprint was in it's prime (hello 2020 VISIONS - did you ever miss that one, but that was to be expected) and the comic was a harbinger of the IMAGE comics creator owned comics revolution in the trade in terms of the independent voice that writer Vaughn and artist Guerra had when publishing.
But it was interesting in a way that we couldn't see at the time. In a #woke world, with it's black and white, context resistant frame, dealing with gender in media has never been more difficult.
Back then, as artists Guerra and Vaughn were operating based on their personal vision of what it would mean to have a world with no men. What would a matriarchal society look like today if men ceased to exist? My money says that what they envisioned is radically different to how even those two artists might envision that same question today.
I'm a) going to go and reread the comics (one of my collection that survived the Printed Comic cull of 2015) and b) going to prepare for the TV series (great timing btw, producers) being either utterly shit or fantastically interesting

Was there even really a weak series. S2 & S3 were definitely a bit more subdued but the chemistry was there and the show was just starting to find it's stride. From S4 onwards, it's almost all pure gold but I was wondering if there was a particular one that stuck out to you as being considerable weaker than the rest? Maybe due to a lack of good challenges, top many scripted comedy moments etc?
Hey TG fans,
So last year I had posted about upscaling older (2002 to 2009) Top Gear episodes that were never broadcast in HD. I would use A.I. software magic to improve the quality to 720p. I posted a couple clips, and the response was very positive.Β
Β
I have been busy with an unrelated project which tied up my computer, but soon I'll have time and resources again to continue this project.Β
Last year I was able to upscale series 1 and 2, and a lot of DVD releases. They turned out great because I had quality source material.Β
However most of the original TV rips were low quality 360p .avi, and they don't turn out great through the upscaler program. I know higher quality rips out there exist from Motortrend on Demand, and some Russian TV channel. Originally it was broadcast in 576i but I don't know if anyone was releasing them online in that quality back then.
I was collaborating with the original creator of the Ultimate Top Gear Pack, u/AlexGRFan97, and the plan was to upscale all the older content to 720p. He had some good quality sources not in that torrent, but sadly he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
So I'm looking for another collaborator or collaborators that can help with this.
Hopefully some of you out there have access to higher quality source material of series 3 to 13.
Some notes:
The goal is to preserve the original soundtrack and length of the episodes, with improved video quality. I doubt we'll ever get a proper release from the BBC.
So I'm looking for good source material, and someone with experience with audio and video editing/encoding software, and someone who's passionate about Top Gear and wants to preserve the legacy. Anyone interested in collaborating, please send a DM!
What I am really looking for is a show I can watch that has informative sections on gear and others about playing - including both theory lessons and technical lessons - but also the occasional player interview and, ideally, a good joke every now and again. If something like this exists, I'd be overwhelmingly happy. If something like this doesn't exist, I would like to offer whatever I can to help /r/guitar make this happen.
Edit: Also, please link me to any Web shows you find particularly informative or interesting! I am no stranger to the internet but guitar is still foreign to me.
Hey there guys!
I am a big fan of The Witcher series. I have a HUGE love for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (still my favorite video game to date), I also really like the Netflix series and I have read a few books.
Now, I wanted to ask you guys if anyone has seen the 2002 TV series of The Witcher "Wiedzmin". I am sure that many have heard about it, but I am also sure that few have been encouraged to see it. As I am a big fan of The Witcher, I would quite like to enjoy content from this universe, but I am also a bit critical with movies and TV series, so i don't know if it's a good idea to watch this. "Wiedzmin" from what I have seen has very bad reviews but I also see that it is being compared to Lord of The Rings, something that I think could unfairly lower its rating.
So, my question is to those who have seen it, is Wiedzmin worth watching? and why would you recommend it?, taking into account that it will have bad CGI and other aspects that are normal for the year (2002) and budget.
Also, what about the movie from 2001?
Thanks guys, sorry if my english is bad, i'm from Spain.
