I've been watching "Lie to me*" for the last week and Tim Roth is playing the lead - Dr. Lightman.
Now I'm aware that Roth is from London but especially his character seemed like he used an incredibly carefully selected vocabulary to come across as British as possible.
Is this just my perception? Are there a lot of people speaking like that in the UK?
And do you have any suggestions for British series / series with (authentic) British leads?

So I have a preference for crime stuff and comedy.
It's definitely a romcom, but with a fun indie twist of hitmen and killing. It's like a bunch of people sat around and said "what kind of things can appeal to the stereotypes of men and women and how can we make it be in the same movie?" And then it worked. It's funny, sweet, well written, and very well acted. It's much better than it has any business being.
