While you could try getting information from one of the mook's you just killed with Speak With Dead, they're under no compulsion to give you a truthful answer. You may try using Zone of Truth, but according to Sage Advice, spirits and corpses are not creatures, and cannot be the target of ZoT. So how do you figure out where the assassins came from when your Barbarian hulked out and killed all of them?
Soul Cage solves this issue. As a reaction, you can capture the soul of a humanoid you just watched die. Then, you can play with it a bit. Either regain your own hit points, draw on their knowledge to gain advantage, or see a location the creature has visited.
What we want, however, is Query Soul.
>You ask the soul a question (no action required) and receive a brief telepathic answer, which you can understand regardless of the language used. The soul knows only what it knew in life, but it must answer you truthfully and to the best of its ability. The answer is no more than a sentence or two and might be cryptic.
So while it might be cryptic, it has to be solely because of the understanding of the slain creature. The soul is compelled to answer you truthfully.
Should be useful, if your party Warlock or Wizard ever makes it to level 11.
Technically it says when a HUMANOID dies within 60ft of you. But a mummy lord is already undead. So how does this interaction work?

RMs:
Tyro = Light's Wrath
Bard = Haste
BLM = Attunement II
Devout = none
WHM = Haste
BLM was hitting 9999, but even with R4 Firaja, that's only going to be 80k :(. WHM was hitting 3600 which could be improved by changing accessory (MND+) and RM. Even so, with 12 Diaga that leaves a lot. Tyro was hitting for 2400 after Steal Power, and 1200 from retaliate.
It was Firaga that got me. He spammed 3x in a row and I couldn't out-heal it.
I'd love to replace Bard with someone else, but nobody besides Tyro can run breakdowns, and this guy hits so hard I need every mitigation possible. Even so, I decided to not bring SG/SS II because they wouldn't last the whole fight.
I'm thinking of running it again, replacing Retaliate with Full Break R2, replacing Protectga on WHM for another heal, and replacing Faith with Protectga.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: The Haste RMs are dumb - I'm using Boon RW.
