Notable Box Office Stories:
While I was out last week the story remains the same as as once again The Jungle Book dominated the box office on it's second week, bringing it $60.8 mil at #1. The live-action remake had one of the lowest drops ever for a $100 mil+ opening (41%) and with it's A rating on Cinemascore will likely stay within the the top five for weeks to come. In terms of other Disney live-action remakes the film is tracking about as well as 2010's Alice and Wonderland which notably went on to make over $300 mil domestic and over $1 bil worldwide. Jungle Book could continue in that same path, as the film has already grossed over $300 mil in foreign totals, including a sizeable $68 mil opening in China. This marks an insanely good Spring for Disney which is still seeing Zootopia in the top five (see below), another live-action remake success, and will dominate the next few weeks with the opening of Captain America: Civil War.
Once again it seems like unless your film has the phrase "big fat greek" in it, the long awaited follow-up film might be a bad idea as The Huntsman: Winter's War became the latest victim. The $110 mil Kristen Stewart free prequel to the 2010 Kristin Stewart led Snow White & The Huntsman either came too late or too K Stew free because it opened only to $20 mil at #2 (the original opened with $56 mil). While Jungle Book was clearly going to win the weekend, but there was still no excuse for such a low turnout to the film, especially in the prime 18-25 market it was going for, as a majority of the audience were females over the age of 30. The film is doing slightly better overseas where it opened two weeks ago, pulling in $80 mil so far and doing reasonably well in Mexico, the UK, and Australia. However the film will not come anywhere close to it's predecessor's $396 mil worldwide take and will struggle coming up against flashier summer fare.
Disney may be looking at three major releases in the top five next week as Zootopia still hasn't dropped out of the race in its 8th week. The film came in #4 with

Guys and galls, just to tell (or remind) y'all, the English translation of our book on Kris and Lisanne is out. You can find it on Amazon (as LOST IN THE JUNGLE). I still see lots of "facts" used in discussions on this forum that are either confirmed or refuted by us using the police files. The English version is a slightly revised edition, in which we corrected a few small mistakes. We read all 3000+ pages of the police report and all the autopsy reports, so I'm sure there's something to find for all of your favourite theories!

I was clicking on it several times up to the 7am mark and then right at 7am I clicked on it and it was already reserved. I have heard that people find tricks in the system and I'd like to know what they are. Anyone?

Edit: Okay so, this post gained a lot more traction than I was expecting. I woke up to over 150 replies and that's obviously more than I can realistically be expected to engage with. I want to thank the redditors who actually took the time to come up with a thoughtful response either to the original post or one of my follow-up comments, and there were plenty of you who offered good points that did change my viewpoint, so I'll be awarding deltas when I get time. There were also plenty who did not afford me such a courtesy however; one redditor went so far as to claim that I should be put on medication because I disagree with their opinion. Obviously, worthless comments like this are a dime a dozen on reddit but I wanted to focus on this one because as un-constructive as it is, I don't know if the commenter realized how hilariously dystopian their suggestion was. "You don't buy into the hype for Lion King 2019? Better drug yourself so you fit in with what my vision of a society is." Sorry to hear my opinion about kids movies about talking animals is such an affront to you that I need to change my brain's chemistry to appease you, sire. On this note I also think people have misinterpreted how ardently care about this topic. I don't lay awake at night cursing the Disney company because they made remakes of my childhood movies and replying to my original post with a response that implies that i take it that seriously is founded on false premises. Perhaps I worded my original title too negatively, because I don't care that much. What my overall point was, was that I don't buy into the hype. /edit
The most common arguments I see in support of seeing these remakes produced have been: 1. Makes me nostalgic. 2. Itβs what we love but made with better effects / production value. 3. Itβs like a Shakespeare play, we havenβt seen this version of X story. And hereβs why I think each of those arguments completely fails:
Yeah, thatβs exactly the point. Disney KNOWS it makes you nostalgic and thatβs why theyβve chosen these properties. Not because they want to create greater art than the original, but because they know they have a guaranteed market before they even start pre-production.
This argument, to me, is just all kinds of infuriating. The Transformers films had βbetter effectsβ than the TV show. Doesnβt mean they werenβt steaming piles of garbage. Surprise surprise, one of the most powerful and wealthiest corporations in all history can make a technic
So I think I hate Greystripe. I think heβs very self centered. Fireheart is going through a lot right now with his apprentice getting hit by a car and is told sheβll never be a warrior. He never even asks about her. Heβs thrown all of his duties down including training his apprentice so Fireheart picks up on doing that.
I feel like heβs being a really bad friend. I donβt care that he took up for firepawβs little nephew kitten during the meeting. He could step up in other areas too. Iβm on chapter 24 I think so please no spoilers. Iβm at the part where Bluestar calls a meeting after meeting with the other clans at the Fourtrees.
