A list of puns related to "The Sandman Universe"
In which a dream returns and the totems of the subconscious find their truth...
...tried to sound engaging there because a lot of exposition happens here, which I loved. After 19 issues this was a great narrative to more or less knock down the Dark Moth and reset the stage
One more issue to conclude Si Spurriers epic. A lot of great clarification on what the denizens of the Dreaming are in relation to the Dream Lord himself.
Let me know what you all thought and weβll get the discussion going.
Iβve been collecting the sandman Universe by issue. Is there a specific order to read it? Iβve read it so far starting off with Dreaming 1, House of Whispers 1, Dreaming 2, House of Whispers 2, Lucifer 1, Books of Magic 1, Dreaming 3, House of Whispers 3, Lucifer 2, Books of Magic 2 and so on. Iβm on Lucifer 11 right now and Iβm curious about how to read the Hellblazer stuff.
Iβve got a lot to say about this issue. But itβs late for me so Iβll say this:
Desire is a true unsung hero of the universe. Someone had tea at the end of all things. A ruby in her head. And I love Rose Walker.
First Wednesdays of the month = a new Dreaming issue!!
Will be getting mine in a few hours but let the discussions start...
As we slowly approach October, when John Constantine will be given a title in the Sandman Universe and the imprint (ish) will be one year old, there is a question that I would like to discuss : did this imprint accomplish what it set out to do commercially ?
Out of the current series did any turn out to be bad in your opinion? Is any worth the read? Is this effort to create a universe centered around Sandman characters worth Dcβs money? Are they selling well at all ?
I myself am only casually catching up to the dreaming since it seems to be the most centric series of the 4.
Iβd appreciate your inputs and opinions . Thanks in advance!
I don't see many people talk about them and i'm curious about them. How are they? Are they good?
The new series that started back in August does anyone know when they will collected so I donβt have to hunt for single issues?
Hi reddit,
I've used Black Friday to buy Sandman Universe volumes 1 (The Dreaming , Lucifer, Books of magic and House of whispers )
But I don't know in which order should I read them. Also, I don't know if I need to read any of the original runs first. (I've read Sandman (including endless nights and overtrue) and Death (high cost of living and time of you life).
Thanks!
In which war is declared against God, a witch queen and son of the devils fates are decided...
Iβll have more later. Just wanted to get the ball rolling...
For those of you who don't know, The Kindly Ones are the Neil Gaimen version of The Furies from greek mythology.
They are immensely powerful and don't seem to fear anyone in the Universe save for Dream's older sister (death).
To quote them, when a pumpkin with a gun said he was "their worst nightmare" they responded with:
"We have no nightmares. We are the Hounds of Hades. Gods fear us. Demons fear us. We have hounded kings and angels. We have taken vengeance on worlds and on universes. We are The Kindly Ones. We are the Eumenides."
To clarify: I donβt hate or dislike this series. I just find it very average and decompressed in certain respects.
This however has been the first issue is was genuinely interested in picking up.
This follows up in the Hellblazer special and continues plot points from the Magic war in original BoM. Overall good issue. Creative way of splitting issue between to narrations.
Ok. Firstly I love Books of Magic and Tim Hunter. Secondly Iβm not disappointed they rebooted the property and have it picking up after the Gaiman issues. I for one struggled with the second series under John Ney Reiber. I found it boring and not cohesive enough in weaving its cast together. (My opinion of course and Iβll most likely add to this trail of thought later.). However during that run a multiverse of Tim Hunters existed, so in essence (to paraphrase Gaiman himself) the original Tim acts as Earth 1 Tim Hunter while this new Tim would be the equivalent to Earth 2 per se. ultimately 2 Tim Hunters; one retired in continuity and the newer active renewed one picking up those threads.
Ok. I greatly look forward to this series and I know it will pick up-already interested in the possibilities it holds-but this first issue was pretty generic. My major gripe was how fast I read it and the lack of meat on its bones. While the Dreaming and Lucifer had a lot to unpack and digest this felt like an overpriced appetizer without any bulk or filling. I donβt mean to sound harsh, itβs just I want more.
As many monthly books, reading in a collected trade is always more gratifying so Iβm sure if people trade waited the overall experience would be different.
Thatβs not to say I didnβt enjoy it. The opening recap pages were great and the appearance of Mad Hettie was great. I will continue to buy this and Iβm excited to see where it goes. Just, come on, a little more bulk to fill those pages would be great. Who knows, perhaps issue 2 will do just that.
Any thoughts anyone on anything BoM?
So I'm a bit confused as to what's going on with the continuity here and I just want to know what I'm looking at.
Sandman Universe seems to be picking up continuity wise from Gaiman's original run. We've got Daniel Hall Dream and Matthew the Raven.
But then there's Lucifer... Which also so far seems to be taking up right after Gaiman's run, but doesn't respect Mike Carey's Lucifer run? Yahweh is still in his position, not Elaine. Lucifer is back in creation and is still the Morning Star, and Mazikeen is just regular old Mazikeen. And it looks like Lux was just classic piano bar Lux.
I'm only a few issues in so if it gets explained, that would be great but I'm just having a hard time figuring where everything fits in. Are we just ignoring Mike Carey's Lucifer run altogether? Or should I wait it out to get an explanation from the books?
(I understand there was an interim Lucifer series in there that's in it's own continuity, and a separate character named Lucifer has appeared in the n52, this question isn't about that. Just the Gaiman created characters/continuity)
Hello everyone,
I am working on setting up a D&D 5E campaign, and I am new to DM'ing. The group of players I am working with is diverse in terms of the kind of fantasy/sci-fi settings each of them most enjoy, so I thought it would be a good time to try out an idea I had for a Sandman tabletop.
I want it to be a kind of mash-up, in which all of the players are 'regular people' from across the multiverse as it is described in Sandman. This allows everyone to play the kind of player he/she wants to play, and I'm hoping it will make for interesting group dynamics. The basic plot I'm playing with is this: Each of the player characters has been called on by Dream and brought into the Dreaming to accomplish some task that he cannot perform. As the players complete objectives and level up I plan to have them travel to different realms/universes with new themes and objective focus.
My questions:
Thanks for your input
