A list of puns related to "The Outliner of Giants"
I could include a screenshot but I don't think it's necessary. I haven't a clue how to ease this, I just know that it's tedious.
Besides I don't even play in large galaxies. I also keep 4-5 core system planets. Did I mention how tedious it is?
What do you think could be done?
I was checking a backup I'd made from a file a while ago. And I noticed that some objects where gray in the outliner. Some of these objects where invisible in the 3D viewport, with no way to make them visible. And some of these grayed out objects from the outliner where still visible in the 3D viewport.
Now I want to fix both problems I've, but I've no idea how. The project was made in Blender 2.79B and I'm currently using 2.8.
Here's an image of some objects from the outliner, I don't have the option to Disable them in the Viewport and other objects are gone aswell. You can also see that I've selected the grayed out object from the outliner and that it's visible.
I'm hoping someone here could tell me how to fix both problems.
I know this topic has been raised again and again, that outliner is terrible, but surely there is some smart soul here who has the ability to mod it to be a little more customizeable?
Honestly just being able to "hide" specific starbases in a special category would be insanely helpful. Vanilla game puts shipyards separately, and that's helpful, but not as much when you still have 35+ anchorages/bastions/trading stations and you need to scroll through that giant list whenever you need to find THAT ONE STATION that you need to upgrade still.
Lets not even talk about "wide" games when you have 100+ stations...
I know there is a "tiny outliner" mod, but it hasnt been updated and users report some issues with it. It also doesnt solve the problem, it just allows you to fit more values on the screen, there's still far too many of them.
Anyone? Please? <Embassy_propose_01>?
TLDR: I hope they add hover descriptions to all outliner icons.
In the outliner, what's the difference between the orange triangle (mesh object data?) and green triangle (mesh edit data?) and the orange coordinates icons (see edit below)? It seems every other part of the UI tells you what the icons are when you hover over them but not in the main outliner tree. Even the filter icons to the right say what they are on hover. I know to most users these are probably self explanatory.
I also find it odd that if you filter in the outliner, and uncheck everything including objects and meshes, most still appear in the list.
Blender is a program I'll check out every couple years but never truly commit to learning. With the new changes in 2.8, I think I'm ready to sit down and finally learn it. However, there are certain things in the documentation that seems to assume people understand them. It'd be helpful if the documentation had a section that breaks down any icons and what they mean if they are mentioned in the article. Is there an icon glossary in the documentation that I'm missing? When searching for one, the results are just a flood of "new blender icon" blog posts.
EDIT: I realized the orange coordinates icons are called "Empties" only after looking at the filter settings)? As a new user referencing the documentation first, it took me a while to finally see it in Modeling > Empties. Never heard the term Empty before in 3D modeling. Just one of those minor things I didn't know how to search for and ended up spending a lot of time looking. Oh well. Either way I'm still pumped to learn 2.8 after this silly and miniscule setback. I clearly tend to get caught up in the little things.
Is it possible to reorganize the armies and fleets outliner alphabetically when I use custom names?
I'm getting spoiled by HOI4. I want to rename all of my Russian armies in "N army Y Corps" to organize them into (in my mind) orginizational groups.
But they are out of order. Can I force the outliner to resort?
Hey there, So I'm facing an issue where I can't move any object within the Outliner using the MMB, I tried variety of things but no luck, anyone got a clue how to fix that? take a look:

This issue started after I grouped up multiple objects.
Thanks in advance!
I would like to add a category ( by "category" I mean something like "Civilian fleets" or "Disabled Alerts" )
Any Ideas where to start?
I added a child to "guiTypes" in "interface/outliner.gui" but it doesn't seem to do anything...
A pump? No, I just refill a smaller squeeze bottle to fit in the fridge.. but I relish all the comments you guys made. - Bryan (59)
