A list of puns related to "The Leftovers (TV series)"
I just finished season one a few minutes ago and I canβt shake this feeling wondering why more people donβt talk about this show. I think I just watched one of the most emotional, well acted and well written seasons of television Iβve seen in a very long time.
Itβs a show about how fragile we all really are. It dives into how communities, families and individuals would act when they are faced with unimaginable tragedy. Itβs a very good, deep and thought provoking show.
I just felt like I needed to share this show with other people. It was truly amazing and I canβt wait to keep watching. But for now, I need to grab a drink, stare out the window, and think about what I just watched.
Coronavirus, home office and kids have blocked me out from the outside world. Used to be very picky: The Leftovers, The OA, didn't like The Stranger Things. Kindly please advise me for my next TV drama series. Thanks :(
At first it reminded me of the Leftovers, but this show will be well remembered in its own right.
>!Loved the circular nature of the story. In the start, Kirsten loses her family, finds Jeevan, who then loses her, but she finds Sarah, Alex and the traveling symphony (her new family). In the end, she loses Sarah, Alex but finds Jeevan and keeps her family, because the world is safe.!<
Might have to read the book to see if answers more questions.
The show has finished its second season, and there are a multitude of unanswered questions from both seasons. This is what you get with a Lindelof-written series. That doesn't mean it's not annoying as hell.
So, I'm interested in any general or overarching theories you guys have, and I'll list some unanswered questions below:
The large deer that Kevin saw mauled by the dogs in season 1. Why? How and why was it in his house the night prior?
Kevin's father sees and hears people no one else can see. He mentions that they say they are sending Kevin someone to help and guide him. Is this Dean? Or perhaps Patti's ghost from season 2? Regardless, Kevin's father seems interested in following the voices, but makes it clear he doesn't want Kevin following Patti (season 1 finale).
The National Geographic magazine from season 1?
The Guilty Remnant of season 2. They are so devout in their beliefs, yet they break their own rules multiple times, talking all the time to each other and to others. Patti did this in season 1 as well. Why?
Kevin seems to be surrounded by miracles. He has been miraculously saved from death 3 times in season 2. The earthquake draining the lake, his poison OD being cured, and the bullet not causing him to bleed out. Thoughts? (season 2, episode 2, 8, 10).
The crazy campers outside of Miracle. What is their deal? The large man who asked Matt to smack him with the board while yelling "Brian," what was that about. He said since Matt was a man of God that "it counted." (season 2 episode 4-5).
When Kevin has his near-death experiences, where does he go? What is the hotel, and why are certain people, alive and dead, there? (season 2, episodes 8 and 10)
Was Holy Wayne for real? Everyone including Tommy thinks he was a scam artist. But he asked Kevin to silently make a wish, and he smiled and said "granted." Kevin then went home with his daughter to find the woman he loves and a new baby waiting for him (season 1 finale).
He was tired of being pushed around
English isn't my native language (not even my second language). But I do love to watch british series in english and if available with subtitles(not often the case somehow). Imagine my confusion when a unrelated looking 30 year old calls the older women character Mom. Because it didn't happen to often on my viewings (maybe Ma'am isn't that common) I was confused but I put it always aside as me being not attentive enough. Only with the magic of subtitles was I able to understand how much of an moron I was.
There's a lot to hate about the Watch TV series. There's even, apparently, some things you can like it for if you're able to sufficiently distance it mentally from its source material, although I can't quite tell what. But what I just can't stop thinking about is what a missed opportunity for something really special it was.
There are plenty of faithful adaptations of the Discworld in various stages of planning and production, with Narrativia's actual support and signs so far, such as they are, pointing to good things. But the Watch series, with all of its delays and development hell and weird rights and production situations, was in a totally unique position to create something nothing else could: one last look at the Disc as it continued to turn. Not some grand, epic new story cobbled together to give the publisher one last payday from a dead author's margin notes, but simply a window into a few day-to-day stories of the City Watch solving a few Ankh-Morporkian crimes alongside some of their more memorable escapades. A look through a more clouded, warped window, perhaps - there's just no replacing pTerry's mind and vision - but a television story is already so different to a novel that even a perfect adaptation has wildly different strengths and weaknesses than its paper-based equivalent, and a police procedural following some of the Watch's day-to-day affairs wouldn't have to try to stand alongside the books as an equally novel-worthy tale of the Discworld, merely complement the setting as a window into what might happen in some of the days between the epic conspiracies and draconic warfare.
I can't stop imagining what could have been, with a team that loved and respected Pratchett's work, had gotten Narrativia on board, perhaps worked with Rhianna or consulted with Rob. Maybe Neil even could have been involved, though he's always got a lot on his schedule. Or maybe you wouldn't need any kind of big, recognizable names attached - just a talented producer and director with actual reverence and interest in the source material, and who were content with producing something that merely was a complement to the Discworld, rather than trying to replace it.
With how the Watch turned out, and especially how little respect its creators had not just for the setting of the Discworld but for Pratchett himself as an author, I doubt there's any appetite in the fanbase or Narrativia for any more attempts at projects that go beyond faithful adaptations, even with i
... keep reading on reddit β‘So my brother tonight is sitting down to watch Star Wars IV with his son for the first time and we were talking about shows that we wish we could see again for the first time.
So I ask you, what is the one TV series you wish you could rewatch but with fresh eyes for the first time?
Something similar to Peaky Blinders, Hannibal or Breaking Bad would be ideal.
Edit: Thanks for the responses. After much careful consideration I have decided to go with The Wire
I don't know if this question has been asked before but I will ask it anyway. What movie do you think would have been better suited as a TV Series?
Some films try to cram wayyyyy too much into too little and feel overstuffed as a result, personally, I think the recent Matt Damon film Stillwater would have been better as a crime miniseries since there was just too much put into the film it felt overstuffed and questions were left unanswered
What films would you say?
I need a new tv as my current one doesnβt have 4K. Should I look at getting a tv with the 2.1 hdmi? Or with 120hz? I donβt know too much about TVs. Will a 4K 60fps tv do?
We just finished the second season and I feel like the second season is just as good if not better than the first season. I've read the books up to where they're at in the show. There's a lot of changes, especially in the second season, mainly expanding and adding characters (the broad strokes are still pretty similar), but I think overall they're more positive than negative. What does everyone else think?
I have a 13 year old Deaf sister. She's been Deaf all her life. We watch a lot of movies together. It's one of the things she can actually enjoy doing with other people. We've seen all the Marvel movies and series and she's watched them too. Anyway. When she saw Hawkeye was hearing impaired she beamed with a smile because she felt he was like her now. I too love how the show handles deaf and hearing impaired characters. It really gives representation to the deaf and hearing impaired people in the super hero world.
Just wanted to share as this was something that just made me smile.
