A list of puns related to "The God Particle (book)"
Basically, this man owns a shop and one day this random teen shows up and says she is niece and she needs his help to find her parents who disappeared after discovering the god particle I think. From what I remember, the teen was deaf but very good at lip reading and the man had no memory of her at all. She was essentially "created" when they discovered the particle and it altered history. In the course of the book they travel around the world and at some point end up going to a very religious mountain in I think the middle east. It was illegal for them to go there but they convinced some locals to take them.
I also feel like they might have gone to CERN and met with one of her parent's colleagues who was a priest but I am unsure about this.
I read this book sometime before 2011 but I honestly am not sure exactly when or if it was a new book or at that time. I think it was YA but I'm not totally sure.
In season 2 of Dark we see 2 "god particles" in different places.
One particle is in 1921 is deep underground beneath the Winden church. Adam tells Jonas they "created it themselves" The other particle is see in both 2020 and 2053 inside the Winden Nuclear Plant. It is created when the apocalypse occurs and is still there in 2053.
When we see the Power Plant Particle forming in 2020, 2 paradoxal things are happening. Magnus and Franziska in 1921 are supercharging the Church Particle, and Elizabeth in 2053 is supercharging the future version of the Power Plant Particle.
As far as the 1921 particles origin goes, even if they created it themselves, it would only have been possible with the existence of the Power Plant Particle, as that is how Jonas first gets to 1921.
TLDR We have a triqueta paradox for the creation of the God Particles. Church is only possible if the Plant one exists in 2053 to send Jonas back. 2020-2053 Plant one only exists if both its 2053 future self, and the Church one are supercharged at the same time, causing its formation in 2020.......
The Oh-My-God particle was the highest-energy cosmic ray detected so far (as of 2019), by the Fly's Eye detector in Dugway Proving Ground, Utah, US, on 15 October 1991. Its energy was estimated as (3.2Β±0.9)Γ10^20 eV, or 51 J. This is 20 million times more energetic than the highest energy measured in electromagnetic radiation emitted by an extragalactic object and 10^20 (100 quintillion) times the photon energy of visible light, equivalent to a 142-gram (5 oz) baseball travelling at about 26 m/s (94 km/h; 58 mph).Coordinates: Sky map 5h 40m 48s, +48Β° 0β² 0β³
Assuming it was a proton, this particle traveled at 99.99999999999999999999951% of the speed of light, and its Lorentz factor was 3.2Γ10^11. At this speed, if a photon were travelling with the particle, it would take over 215,000 years for the photon to gain a 1 cm lead as seen in Earth's reference frame.
The energy of this particle is some 40 million times that of the highest energy protons that have been produced in any terrestrial particle accelerator. However, only a small fraction of this energy would be available for an interaction with a proton or neutron on Earth, with most of the energy remaining in the form of kinetic energy of the products of the interaction. The effective energy available for such a collision is β2Emc2, where E is the particle's energy and mc2 is the mass energy of the proton. For the Oh-My-God particle, this gives 7.5Γ10^14 eV, roughly 60 times the collision energy of the Large Hadron Collider.
Because of the lockdown, I have time to sort my filmsound notes. One great article is again from Walter Murch. Walter gives a lecture about the history of film and filmmaking in general at the Sheffield Doc Fest. The presentation is roughly 45 minutes long, followed by an interview of similar length during which Walter talks a lot about cinema.
>Walter explains his famous editing-theorie In the blink of eye:
People blink essentially when they get the idea of a thought. In terms of picture editing, this means that the cut is the moment when we're saying 'I get it, I understand, I am now ready for the next idea'. The cut, however, never happens precisely when someone blinks but just slightly before it happens.
A great section is around 1h 12min, when Walter talks about music in film. Learn more about, why film and music loathe each other, learn something about modular art forms with great repetition and specially: saliva music!
You can find the entire lecture here:

Hi,
do you have any recommendations of a good books (presentations, papers, articles, etc.) for studying and understanding the basics and principles about gas adsorption by solid particles and chemisorption.
I'm about to start working on a longtime school project focused on removing gas pollutants by adsorption on an experimental Pulverized coal-fired boiler (bubbling fluidized bed combustion) running also in a an oxy-fuel mode.
I have been studying classical engineering, not chemical engineering or any chemistry college, so I don't know much about chemistry overall.
Thanks!! π
I remember listening to this in audiobook format. The audiobook was published as a podcast
Saw an old email in my Promotions tab for a screening for God Particle last week. Super bummed I didn't see it earlier and missed it. Looked online and couldn't find a single thing about it. Anybody have any details?
It'd fit with the plot description of "scientists make a terrifying discovery" and it'd be a great callback to the Cloverfield 1 tagline "SOMETHING HAS FOUND US"
Does anyone have any information on this movie? It is scheduled to come out in 5 weeks but I haven't seen a picture or a trailer or a detailed synopsis about it. I understand that is what the Cloverfield line is about, but any info would greatly appreciated.
For a production company so interested in suspense and surprise, why would BR let God Particle and The Cellar (10CL) have their scripts / screenplays leaked online far in advance of the movie release?
I realise that 10CL was changed substantially from the original screenplay and GP probably will as well, but it still baffles me that these would be published prior to the film's release. Hell, even if it wasn't BR, surely it's very unusual for a film - especially a mystery film - to have its entire plot and dialogue published before the film actually comes out in cinemas?
