Ambient musician Leyland James Kirby creates music under several different monikers, one being The Caretaker. He has confirmed that much of his music under this name was inspired by the ballroom scene in The Shining. Music under this name tend to be very long and experimental projects.
One of them is called "Everywhere at the End of Time" and is "a series exploring dementia, its advancement, and its totality."
If you are the patient sort and don't mind being very unsettled, give it a listen. It has that King vibe and so much more. Seriously though...it takes some "sitting in it" to get the full effect. I was honestly tired at first but...whoo boy. To say it's "haunting" doesn't do it justice.
My bf and I are going away for the night, we're leaving as soon as I get done with work. We're living at home right now since college is out for the summer, both our families knew in advance when we were leaving.
Turns out my bfs dad's gf is making my bf leave his work early (thus missing out on at least an hour, if not 2 of pay) so he can walk their fucking dog. She's the one who wanted to keep the thing in the first place. She isn't working today. But can she walk it? Nooooo.
Honestly the entitlement of some dog owners is insane. I don't care if you want a dog, I don't care if you have a dog. But if you're the one who wanted it then you are it's primary caretaker.
I decided to draw a (very simple MSPaint) map of the galaxy showing all possible locations of both the far terminus of the Bajoran Wormhole (Point G) and the location where Voyager appeared in the Delta Quadrant (Point D).
The following canonical facts are taken into account:
- Point G is 70k ly from Bajor.
- Point D is 70k ly from Earth.
- Voyager's last jump in the series finale covered a distance of 30k ly.
- Earth is located near enough to the AQ/BQ border to be more or less considered "on" it.
The following assumptions are in effect:
- There is no canonical distance between Bajor and Earth (the tech manual says 52 ly, but this doesn't seem to match evidence on screen and is non-canonical regardless. On a map where 1 pixel equals 100 ly, the distance between them is likely fairly negligible and has been simplified down to a single "Home" point (Point H).
- Point D is closer to Point H than it is to Point G. Otherwise, Voyager would have likely headed for Point G rather than Point H when they began their journey.
- Voyager did not cross into the Beta Quadrant before making their final jump home. This would have been a momentous occasion that surely would have been mentioned on-screen.
- Trek universe Earth is located in the same position in the galaxy as real-world Earth. I actually don't know if this is an assumption or a canonical fact, but I'm being cautious in my proclamations here. I think it's an extremely fair assumption regardless.

Scale: 1 pixel = 100 ly.
- White lines denote quadrant borders.
- The green dot (about halfway down the AQ/BQ border) represents Point H (actually, at 8 pixels across, it represents about a tenth of the entirety of Federation space, but making it smaller would make it very hard to see).
- The yellow lines draw segments of an arc with a 70k ly radius from Point H. The portion in the GQ represents all possible locations of Point G and the portion in the DQ represent all possible locations of Point D. Note that this is an incomplete arc, because...
- The red line represents the eastern-most possible planned route for Voyager's journey. Any lines originating along the Point D probability arc further to the east and ending at Point H would cause the portion of the route that passes through the BQ to be in excess of 30k ly (see assumption #3).
- The orange line represents a hypothetical journey Voyager could have taken
I’ve been a whovian for decades (Tom Baker was my first Doctor and fave until Tennant stole thar position). I’ve been avoiding the show for a while because I just don’t like Capaldi. But I do like Whittaker so I’ve been trying to catch up.
It’s been ..fine.. so far until this episode. From refusing to acknowledge him as a maths teacher (repeatedly insisting, instead, that he is surelyPE) to refusing to acknowledge certain relationships, to “why don’t you just get a dog?” the Doctor behaves in a very cringey manner towards Danny.
I’m really struggling with this episode. Did anyone else get thrown off by this one?
I'm asking because on one of there ring worlds they have ancient cryo-chambers does anything interesting happen? I'm nowhere near strong enough to attack them yet so just thought I'd ask! Couldn't find anything on it anywhere
