A list of puns related to "Technical definition"
Hello all,
Please forgive my ignorance. I am a writer currently putting together a portfolio. I enjoy writing direct response ads and educational materials. However, I think I'd be good at technical writing and would like to offer something along those lines to a prospective employer.
My question is: does the term 'technical writing' imply technology? Or does it just have to do with explaining complicated systems in an easy-to-understand way?
I have a text course I've written teaching the basics of music theory. It's an insanely abstract and complex topic, which I think I've explained in an approachable and relatable way. Could I put that as a 'technical' example?
Many thanks!

For example, when I say a cold wall, I get a feeling associated with it. What's that called. What're some phrases or objects that emit that same feeling to you of coldness and aesthetic wise?

High-definition broadcasting at the Sydney Olympics Broadcasting system centered on digital devices,
In addition to giving an overview of the transmission system, high-definition disc recorders, multi-viso routers, and swimming races
Introducing new technologies such as running cameras and underwater cameras.
1. Preamble
NHK broadcasted the Sydney Olympics, which was a fierce battle for 17 days from September 15th to October 1st, over 100 hours of terrestrial broadcasting, 350 hours of BS (Broadcast Satellite), and 282 hours of high-definition broadcasting, including reruns. The key word is βdigitalβ, and the international signal from the host broadcaster is also a digital signal, and the system of the IBC (International Broadcasting Center) is also fully digital. Advances are being made and various new technologies are being developed.
Here, we will mainly introduce the new technology used by NHK in the high-definition broadcast at the Sydney Olympics.
2. Overview of the high-definition broadcasting system at the Sydney Olympics
Unlike the previous Atlanta, the NHK high-definition competition broadcast was produced independently by NHK. Figure 1 shows the outline of the NHK high-definition broadcast broadcasting system. It was supported by two crews, a crew and an HD cam. For some competitions, the international signal (PAL signal) was used as an upconverter for the high-definition signal.
For signal transmission from each stadium, a 270 Mbps optical fiber line supplied by the host was used, and the SDTI encoder (1/7 compression of the high-definition SDI signal) using the same compression method as HDCAM was used.
The main stadium where the opening ceremony, athletics and soccer were held and the super dome of gymnastics were close to IBC and were transmitted by a self-employed fiber optic line using an optical end station (HOL-300) as a 15 Gbps SDI signal. 4ch [1 / 2ch: PGM (Program), 3 / 4ch: IS (International Sound)] was embedded in a 1.5Gbps SDI signal and transmitted.
In the marathon broadcast, βas a high-definition original cameraβ, the camera was set at the starting point, the roof of the ANA hotel, the middle point, and the stadium of the goal, and the camera was followed thickly mainly
... keep reading on reddit β‘Sometimes it feels like people use the word "breathability" to mean "does not make me hot when I'm active". By this definition, a Delta LT would be more breathable than a Kyanite, but neither really blocks evaporation of sweat so aren't they pretty much equal in breathability even though one is significantly more likely to make you hot when active?
So what do people typically mean when they say "breathable"? And is there a technical definition?
I've just gone down a mind-boggling rabbit hole of information regarding the technical definition of focal length in a photographic lens, and I hope some of you can clarify some contradictory information.
The Photography section of the Wikipedia entry on focal length defines it as:
>Thus, according to Wikipedia, the focal length of a lens is the distance between the focal plane and the rear nodal point when the system is focused on infinity. And according to Sony, it's the distance between the focal plane and the secondary principal point when the system is focused to infinity.
However, the technical note on Sony's website for lens basics claims:
>The focal length of a lens is defined as the distance from its secondary principal point to its rear focal point when focus is set to infinity. The secondary principal point is one of six "cardinal points" that are used as points of reference in an optical lens (front and rear focal points, primary and secondary nodal points, and primary and secondary principal points). There's no predefined location for the secondary principal point in a compound lensβit could be somewhere inside the lens barrel or at some point outside the barrel, depending on the design of the lensβso there's no easy way to accurately measure the focal length of a lens yourself.
Thus, according to Wikipedia, the focal length of a lens is the distance between the focal plane and the rear nodal point when the system is focused on infinity. And according to Sony, it's the distance between the focal plane and the secondary principle point when the system is focused to infinity.
Other sources claim it's the "optical centre" of the lensβa point through which all light rays intersectβand leave it vague beyond that.
Is there an easy-to-digest answer, with a technical phrase, that I don't need a degree in optical engineering to understand?
how do economists actually define markets? for instance the goods market, the 'marriage market' etc. Is there are technical MWG/Varian type of definition that applies to all these instances? or is it just the notion of there are sellers and buyers interacting, and their combined forces lead to some allocation of the tangible or intangible good at the end?
Is there a technical definition for artificial intelligence? I don't think terms like "intelligence", "self-awareness", "cognition", "learning", etc. are very good technical terms. These terms seem to be used a lot when defining artificial intelligence.
A friend and I were having a friendly astronomical debate and we were wondering - what is the technical definition of "moon"? I looked in a few places, but the answers I got seemed non-specific.
Or does occupied means there's someone in the house right now, you can hear them inside telling one another not to answer the door, etc.?
Throwaway...
So I have just downed a bottle of whine on a Wednesday. [I just read the rules after writing all of this, and feel like I will never ever post anything except when I'm under the influence. So even though I'm breaking rule 1, I trust that you will understand my position and be forgiving, I'm taking a chance here] I usually drink every single damn weekend, and its something i look forward to. I probably average around 5-6 beers Friday and maybe 7-8 Saturday (50cl / 16oz cans). I never drink until I black out. I kind of never ever has. A part of me finds it comforting knowing that I have it "under control", and another part of me knows that it might have less to do with my habits, and more to do with my anatomy, and making excuses.
I have rarely ever had a fight drunk, I don't argue with my girlfriend drunk, everyone who is around me enjoys my company immensely when I am drunk. Its obvious my girlfriend enjoys me more whenever I drink. So why am I posting here right now?..
I have for a long ass time had this feeling that this love for alcohol is a dangerous game. A part of me doesn't care because everything is going great and has been for many (10+) years. Another part of me acknowledges that I love alcohol too much to imagine a few months without it. Who am I really without it? I like myself so much more drunk. I'm enjoying everything SO MUCH MORE. Is this an illusion as it is to many? No, all the external sources I can think of would agree with this, so why even change? Can I deal with a sober weekend without feeling like I have completely wasted a good buzzed weekend to prove something to myself? Deep down inside, I know I don't want to have to rely on alcohol for anything. A sober weekend should not be worse than a drunk one. But I haven't had a sober weekend for, maybe 5 years.
Look, I know the majority of you out there deal with bigger alcohol related issues than me. I bet its more interesting to read the juicy posts of people where their problems are more dramatic. But I need your comments and insight.
TLDR: What do you do when drinking does not affect anything else but your own health and the sense of failure (looking forward to, and relying on alcohol) when you're a fundamentally better person drunk? All the rational things points towards; continue drinking on the weekends and Wednesdays, risk cancer at 65, in the end I was a better person. But deep down inside I know something is wrong.
I feel it is the most complex word in the game, but it is not even in the Advanced Rules.
In game you see it as
> Aegis: Protected from one enemy spell or effect (but not from battle damage)
In the glossary it is
> Aegis protects a unit or player from one enemy spell or effect. It doesn't block friendly effects, nor does it stop battle damage from Killer attacks, Relic Weapons or normal attacking and blocking
Last thing that i am confused about
Aegis doesn't block Icebolt giving them a sigil,
Card effects which tell the enemy player to play a card never gets blocked, is this a way of saying ignore aegis?
Some other cards examples.
Prickly Grenadin, Cat Burglar and Overwinder gets blocked by aegis.
Cursed Prophet Deleph, Unraveling Fanatic does not get blocked by aegis.
Draw and discard are two sides of the same coin, why does some effects go though and others don't, what keywords should i be looking for?
There might be other weird situations i don't know about so i want to ask what is your most consise explanation for what aegis is?
Solved problems
Aegis doesn't block Nightfall damage if you initiated it, part of nightfall design
Aegis doesn't block can't heal effects, aegis doesn't affect static effects
Aegis doesn't block bounce effects to send the card back to the board/void instead and aegis on target is what matters not destination
