A list of puns related to "Tatami (Japanese armour)"
So in Etho's modded series s2 e3, he mispronounced tatami as tuh-tammy. Nbd right? Then I remembered a long time ago how he mispronounced kakashi (the name of the character his skin is based on) in the exact same way, kuh-kashy. It's now my head cannon that Etho knows exactly how to pronounce both these things and it's a DEEP cut to (I think) a random vanilla series episode where the comment of the day had to do with his skin.
I tried to find the clip of him mispronouncing kakashi just to make sure it wasn't a fever dream but I haven't found it, if anyone can hit me up with the clip I'd really appreciate it.
Also for anyone interested they're pronounced tuh-tommy and kuh-koshy, respectively.
basically want this bed, i can pay in bells, nmt, or send me your wish list and i can see what i got!
I was using 5cm thick puzzle mats for a while, directly put on rough surface, and they're pretty hard tbh.
I was considering buying some traditional Judo mats (4cm thick, but apparently with softer padding) not to replace my puzzle mats, but to put them above them.
How effective is this to absorb falls and shocks?
I just finished watching Tatami Galaxy, and as many of you know it's quite abstract in its artwork, concepts, and theme.
That said, I understand what the anime is about but to many people's surprise, still don't think it's a masterpiece.
Yet from comments I've read, as well as reviews, there seems to be a notion that Tatami Galaxy is great because of the abstract nature, and that those who don't deem it a 9 or 10 are simply not educated enough to appreciate the symbolism, literary devices, themes, etc.
Same thing I've noticed with Monogatari, which I enjoy very much but can understand if people don't.
Many of these anime like Tatami Galaxy and Monogatari seem to have fans that will rate any abstract / complex anime 9 or 10 solely because they are abstract / complex. They seem to rationalize that the harder something is to interpret, the better it is, often even making up things to analyze that probably have no meaning.
Just something I've noticed in the comments or reviews of these types of anime. I can't help but feel many of the viewers try to feel superior over others by rationalizing that only those intelligent enough can appreciate the random elements of an anime.
Just got a new sharp for the holidays, and I haven't gotten the chance to play with it yet. Seems like the prices for tatami mats have gone through the roof lately, most suppliers seem to be sold out and some suppliers are at over $25 a mat! Anyone got a hook-up on any deals?
EDIT: Preferably US distributors for lower shipping, but any leads would be appreciated.
in the past I've seen a lot of discussions about how good certain mats are on different surfaces. My podcast cohost Juan and I had a bet (6 pack of imported japanese craft beer) on one episode about whether dropping an egg on our dojos tatami would break the egg. I also did the experiment with my dollamur mats at home.
Does she go to the stage before the match and lay them all down beforehand?
Tatami mats are quite expensive

Hello! So I recently moved into my apartment, and I have a 3LDK. its very nice. And I don't pay a lot, because its really REALLY inaka. (town is about 8000 people, and 1 high school, and its a prefectural high school).
Anyway, as the title suggests, I have tatami mat rooms. All 3 of them. I've looked up how to clean and keep them tidy, but I really need some specifics. like how do I pull them up? what do I lay under them? how do I clean them if there is a stain? how often should they be replaced? is summer really that bad for them?
some other questions are: I am a rather heavy set person (125kg) and I want to get couches and stuff, but im worried about making indents in the tatami. I already have an office chair, and the wheels for sure are making dents in the mats, even with a thick plastic protective covering.
any information you could have on tatami mat rooms would be incredibly helpful.
EDIT: After reading some posts, I have some more things to add: I am not opposed to floor seating. I do have a bad knee, but I wear a brace, and I know how to get up off the floor without hurting myself, so Floor Furniture? totally about it. I just worry about cleaning. I do vaccuum (a lot) and I do make sure sun and air come in when I am not home. (when it was hella hot here, I kept the windows closed and turned the aircon to "dehumidify".
Also, I have looked at the wood carpet, but I would have to pull it up at least once a month I presume to clean under them right? also mold and mite problems. I just wanna make sure that everything stays clean and not crazy.
Edit2: my supervisor (because i can not speak japanese that wel) is going to tell the apartment caretaker to change the mats. apparently they have been there for more than 20 years, so they are gonna change them. Im trying to convince them to change them to the wood laminate flooring so that they will last longer, and still have good value. wish me luck!
edit3: So, to change all the rooms tatami mats would be 400000yen. they said if i wanted them ALL changed, I have to pay. but if I want ONE room done, they can do that, and they will bare the cost. so, daijoubu. I will take the Wood Carpet Flooring idea to my computer room, and leave the living room tatami, but I will make sure its EXTRA clean all the time. the wood carpet I will probably pull up once a month to clean and lighty spriz with alcohol and clean it, and then let it dry in the sun and put the wood carpet the day after, as to make sure it complet
... keep reading on reddit β‘βNothingβ is what Iβve used in the past, but I now train in a gym that has no tatami or ring. We train in a court used for multiple sports, so we train in shoes. But since I want to train my teeps, Iβm considering just wearing socks and hoping for the best (I donβt think it would be too slippery, but it is surely more dangerous)

Hallo Wohnende!
Wo bekommt man eine authentische Tatami-Matte ΓΌberhaupt her?
