A list of puns related to "Sympoliteia (municipality)"
PARI is growing bigger and bigger!
As PariToken we are thrilled to announce we are officially invited to present our project to authorities of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on 20th December.
We are also happy and proud that we were able achieve the steps stated in our Roadmap.
What is PariToken about? Thanks to PARI, it is now possible to help and virtually adopt animals&plants and see how your help changed the life of your adoptee with visual proofs. PARI is a project that proves the blockchain technology is not all about making profits. By our unprecedented system of Virtual Adoption you can now adopt animals in need and see how your contribution is helping your adoptee at regular intervals. Moreover we will be enabling our users to help plant trees in areas where we can restore forests and create a green, positive social impact around the world. By adopting a sapling or a tree you can help us make the world more green, watching your adoptee grow bigger and bigger in regular intervals and even visit your tree to see how your contribution changed the world with your own eyes.
How do we make this project profitable to our investors as well as help making the world a better place? Making a positive impact on the environment, helping animals and making a profit may seem really complicated. Here is how we plan to make the magic happen: In collaboration with our Marketing Team, Our Field Team is responsible for getting in touch with local NGOs, spotting candidates suited for adoption and the documentation of all relevant work. Our developers are responsible for tokenizing the photos taken by the Field Team and building our custom & native NFT marketplace.

Happy New Year! With that, the deadline for municipalities to opt out of the NY Marijuana Regulation & Taxation Act (MRTA) has now passed. Here's where things are right now.
First, understand that there are two things that municipalities can choose to opt out of:
A local government that has opted out of one or both may opt in at any time, but once they're in, they're in for good. Many municipalities are opting for a "wait and see" approach, but some are going for it.
If they do nothing / fail to affirmatively opt-out by the deadline, they are opted in by default. It looks like a decent number of municipalities did this.
A last minute update that has me excited: Fairport has opted in. All the way in. (Note that this is just the village, Perinton has opted out for now).
Here's where Monroe County municipalities appear to be at, as of the deadline:

I'm not 100% sure about all of the defaults. I tried to confirm via press releases, news, and town board minutes for confirmations, but I may have missed some. Some of these towns have really bad websites!

After reading many posts, I feel like most people in this sub live either in Ixelles or Etterbeek
As homes are selling for hundreds of thousands over asking and demand is at an all-time high, the local housing advocates, Homes for Living YYJ, have created these graphics showing the housing needs per municipality vs what is being built. These graphics show the housing units municipalities need to build annually in order to eliminate the housing deficit in the next 10 years.
It appears Langford is building much more housing than needed, but of course, thatβs not really the case as theyβre absorbing all the growth the others are pushing out. This has resulted in forests being wiped clean, sprawl, and packed highways.
It is very eye-opening seeing the numbers and how far off the core municipalities are. Every year that goes by, the annual need increases.

https://blog.iota.org/building-a-local-green-currency-on-iota/
IOTA is being used as the basis for a energy savings project where residents are rewarded in a local currency (based on IOTA) for sharing information about their energy usage, completely anonymous.
β The municipality is divided into 28 neighborhoods, and each neighborhood is assigned a string of seeds. These seedsβ QR codes cannot be distinguished from each other; it isnβt possible to tell the difference between a seed from one neighborhood and a seed in another neighborhood (unless you know the mother key and algorithm that generated the list of seeds could you reconstruct where they belong). Each seed is assigned to a home in the form of a digital wallet. Each home has an ID which is stored on the Tangle.
Residents answer questions about energy-saving measures and behavior in their homes (how many solar panels are on the roof, for example, or whether the windows are double-glazed, or whether they switch off their television at night or leave it on standby) in the accompanying app (and by doing so, the information is stored on the Tangle). For every piece of data uploaded onto the app and received by the municipality of Emmen, the EnergieKnip coins or points are sent to the wallet in reward. These coins are then spent by the residents in local retailers for new energy-saving devices.β
We all know municipalities play a huge role on who gets to open up shop in their town. However, towns are using this to their advantage and are manipulating who gets approved for licensing. For example, West New York is allowing only one cannabis retail store in their town. From speaking with a few sources, I've been informed that West New York already has awarded the only cannabis license rights to the same person who builds their town's parking garages. The only step that is needed is state approval. This same person is purchasing a multi-million dollar retail space located in West New York's zoning area for cannabis businesses.
While obtaining a cannabis license seems to be equality based; getting awarded for approval from municipalities who only allow a few cannabis businesses in their towns seems to be associated with some form of corruption.
Does this constitute as any form of illegal activity from a town like West New York? If so how can it be avoided to allow micro businesses a chance to flourish in this newly sought industry?
I have very little experience dealing with local government (or any govt.).
Where can I learn about the people that are responsible/in-power where I live? I am ashamed about how apathetic I have been towards the town in which I live.
I'm just trying to take small steps in my free time towards understanding how things work and from there try and put pressure for small helpful things to get done; getting streetlights back on in my neighbourhood for example.
They went "off" many many years ago and I suspect no one that lives here has bothered to ask about it to the powers that be.
In one of the most unfortunate places where people were killed in an vigilante killing event, the Anus murders happened in November 23, 2008 in the Barangay Anus, simply known as Anus, which is located in the San Jose Batangas municipality. This case is just so unusual because it was forgotten even though police "started an investigation", but, you know, this was an vigilante killing where thieves were murdered, so I think it never made any progress.
The story of the Anus murders is as follow:
The victims, identified Alejandro Silvano, 38, and Junry Go Bursano, 32, both were residents of Barangay Pag-Asa of the Quezon City, and also another killed is Dominador Mendez, 31, of the Barangay Holy Spirit. With the third from Quezon City, other sources that the fourth may have lived in the Quezon City, meaning that all the victims lived in Quezon City. The first three were identified by identifications cards that were recovered from them.
The immediate report to the massacre came from a phone call to the police station from "an concerned citizen" regarding the discovery of the four bodies in the Barangay Anus neighborhood (one source mentions that the three were found under an Mango tree) around 7 a.m. of November 23, 2008.
The men were killed by a "group of vigilantes."
They discovered during the initial investigation that the unidentified victim was found lying inside a black Nissan Sentra (plate number ZEP-922) covered with three boxes for fighting cocks while the other three were just a few meters away from the car.
The victims were all tied up and had gunshot wounds to their heads, probably execution style method of killing, the officials of the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) said. Also, only one empty shell of a .45-caliber pistol was recovered along with three boxes for fighting cocks, black clothes, one travel bag and 24 improvised fighting cock pouches.
"We have confirmed that they are the thieves of the seasoning chickens because of the ones recovered from the chicken box and cock pouch used in the theft so that the chickens will not be crooked," Police Chief Inspector Manuel Castillo of the San Jose municipality said. With the evidence that the victims had shown it was probable that they were involved in the robbery of fighting cocks, which was a fuse to the suspects to kill them.
Owners of farms in the place and nearby towns for a long time had complaining about the frequent robbery of the fighting cocks and mentioned that only the robb
