A list of puns related to "Swing Door (train)"
Edited to add this update. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! While a spring/auto close hinge would have been the more beautiful solution, they don't seem to make them in the same size and screw pattern as ours and we didn't want to mess with all of that. Decided to try an awesome and creative solution mentioned below by u/zugunrhue and have success! I used a water bottle as the weight so I could play around with how much water was in it to weight it perfectly to close but not slam. I covered it with a sock so the bottle wasn't loud scraping the door. Solution in action: https://imgur.com/a/x6WLsOe
We have an indecisive cat who loves to come and go from our room throughout the night. The lights coming in from the street outside our room when the door is open cast a light directly on our baby's face and wake her up π. Would love to figure out how to make the door gently swing shut (not so hard that it latches because the dumb cat still needs to be able to push it open 84837 times a night). We have another door in the house that does this by happy accident so I know it's possible... Would love some ideas!
It makes absolutely not sense to open them inwards. From a sanitary point of view, it makes it so that most people MUST touch another part of the stall in order to exit. It is disgusting. Maybe I am just a germaphobe but the less surface area I have to touch in a bathroom stall, the better.
I'm pretty sure this is from the 2000s. I also believe it was an American film. I live in the UK, London though.
The Man just walked in, he is wearing casual clothes, asks for the lady, who is in the shower. She asks him to wait. After the cat moved the mirror, she walks into the bedroom wrapped in the towel.
I watched this film with my Mom, and I remember it being this poigniant quiet scene. I'd really love to show her the film again.
That is the clearest memory I have of the film.
I try to google this, but as you can imagine a load of inappropriate websites and images show up.
Does anyone have any ideas?
The door was originally an exterior door, but the previous owners added a sunroom, fully sealed and connected to HVAC. We like to leave this door open, but then it obstructed the living room opening and altogether just looked bad. The metal and exposed brick threshold also didnβt help to make it feel like a connected interior space.
The goal of this project was to refresh the look and improve the flow to the sunroom as a seamless interior space. I think it was a success. The new color matches the feel of our household better and we can now leave the door open without any obstruction.
The project involved removing the door and ripping out the old threshold and door framing. I bought pre-finished jamb pieces and put together a new frame based on the previousβs measurements. I managed to make a flush, seamless transition between the sunroom and dining room floors with extra LVT I found in the attic. Surprisingly, it came out flat with no flexing or creaking, so Iβm happy with that.
I prepped the door by disassembling it to remove the glass pane, sanding it down, and patching dents and holes with bondo. Then I sprayed it with a Husky air sprayer. The paint is Sherwin Williams Iron Ore. reassembled and hung it.
I located and chiseled in the spots for the new hardware in the jamb. With all that in place, I located the weatherstripping, which was covered with a final trim of wood casing.
More build details are in the album. Total cost was about $150 for premium paint, hardware, and door framing materials.
Itβs more convenient if your dryer door opens away from your washer. For example, if the washer is on the right side of the dryer the dryer door should swing to the left.
If youβre lucky enough to have It delivered and installed, ask the installers to switch the door to a convenient swing (left or right). But, itβs never too late. Use a screwdriver yourself to remove the hinge, flip the door, and install the hinges to the other side.
Three men with ski masks and crow bars barge in and shove me to the ground.
So I'm not a carpenter, just someone that respects the profession, and I'm trying to get an idea of where to hire a good one for replacing bypass doors (60x80 opening) to bifold doors and swing doors to pocket doors (blank walls with no outlets, plumbing). I have no idea where to get started as I have zero carpenter contacts locally.
Carpentry is a super diverse craft and want to get someone who knows how to do this.
What's the best way to get in contact with carpenters (SF Bay Area) that specialize in this kind of thing?
I won't say where but I work retail, and we have a major issue with door swings at our location. Customer comes in, "oops, forgot mask!" goes out to car. +1 door swing. "What's your phone number?" oh, my phone is in my car. +1 door swing. "Can I see your ID?" Oh, it's in my car. +1 door swing. "I don't see an account under that number, perhaps it's another number?" what do you mean another number? I've been a Verizon customer for years!
"Ma'am, this is not verizon, but if you'd like I would be more than happy to show you how we could give you better service for a lower pr---" +1 door swing.
Or the kids using the door as a toy. Or people having their entire family come in and out of the door. Yesterday alone, we hit 70+ door swings and only touched around 5 accounts. This is killing us. Does anyone have any kind of idea on how to reduce door swings without posting something that will lose us audit points, and without telling the customer to stop using our door as a merry go round?
