2021's X Games Superpipe Final will be fucking sweet!
It might just be a combination of being locked in my house for a hot minute, the ridiculous Shaun White hype (maybe?), how dope the X Games have been this year so far, or something completely different, but I'm eager as fuck for the Men's Snowboard Superpipe this year.
I'm a way bigger fan of Slopestyle, and would normally do a preview of that event, but my life has been busy as shit lately so I didn't have the chance to sit down and do it. I may do a post-event breakdown later for the slopestyle, which was really fun to watch, if people dig this post.

Note: The broadcast team has been hyping up that Shaun White was returning, he has been posting about it on social media, and it was one of the "storylines to watch" in the Aspen times on Friday, but I don't see him on the official X Games invited athlete list for the event but also haven't seen or heard any updates about Shaun White not being there. So I don't know which poor sap from the US team is going to get bumped if the X Games is sticking to the 8 rider format, a policy they cited to be related to COVID controls.
Weirdly enough, I just learned through some regrettable Draft Kings promo during the event that you can bet on X Games, maybe I'm new to this, or maybe I'm just restricted because I live in Canada, but this seems like a terrible idea. Draft Kings seems to be running a promo of some sort so I'm not sure how that works, but it is on the Big Air final, which I can't find on MyBookie. When I check betting odds for the X Games on MyBookie, I see this:

Every rider is throwing down insanely unique and difficult runs. This is the best crop of runs I've ever seen. Also, riders are finally getting to Shaun-White levels of height - I'm seeing some 19 foot airs.

After the epic display of progression the men's field showed at the X Games tonight, I wanted to address the women's side also. The progression there is arguably even greater. Before this season, only two women, Kelly Clark and Chloe Kim, had ever put down a 1080 in the pipe. As of yesterday that's up to five with Arielle Gold and Queralt Castellet putting down their first in Snowmass three weeks ago and Maddie Mastro putting down her first yesterday. Not to mention Chloe's back to back 10's she broke out for the second time yesterday. The amplitude on the women's side is starting to get a lot bigger too. There's just been so much progression in the sport of snowboarding as a whole in the last two months I felt like it was worth addressing.
Considering building a Winter X Games style superpipe, slope style, & big air remake map for the new drift board, would that be cool/fun or nah? (Just pasted it again trying to meet the limit for minimum length post or whatever for the automod)
anyone have a clip of his winning run? my DVR stopped recording before the 3rd and final runs for each of the 8 finalists.
