Why does completing the square for circle form give r^2 and not r?
What I mean is that here: https://imgur.com/a/rZlGBUk, completing the square already gives 25, which is r^2. Why does it give r^2 though? Shouldn't it just give the "r", non-squared? I know that circle form is (x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2. But I don't see how completing the square gives r^2 and not just r.
And with vertex form, when you complete the square, the only thing that is squared is the (x-h)^2 part. While for circle form it somehow makes the righthand side of the equation squared as well?

sign of "square" form of sum of second derivatives
Hi all, I have a continuously differentiable strictly convex function v:R^2 --> R_+, like v(x, y) = z.
v is increasing in both its arguments, and has strictly negative second derivatives the cross-partial second derivatives are strictly positive.
QUESTION Is there anything I can say about the sign of v_{xx} - 2v_{xy} + v_{yy}?
I mention the "square" form because it sort of resembles a quadratic.

Another ambitious project, compared to anything I have completed before. Found a reference image, worked out scale based on a little square and I'm gonna try knit this picture for my nephew due in April. Double knitting so there will be a neat reverse image rather than loose thread to deal with.

Day 2 of making board. Iβm happy with the shape now. And Iβve added a square nose. Iβve put weights on the board to form rocker, applied heat and now will leave for a day. Tomorrow Iβll check to see if the rocker has set. π€

Go form linair to square root scale
So I have 2 points (0,8) and (8,7). The linair formula would be 0,125x+7 (using y = ax+b). How would I transfrom this into sqare root scale? I need to have something like the pictures listed. If someone could help I would be very happy

This is a galvalume pot (inside the blue square). It's composition is 55% Aluminium, 1.6% Silicon and the remaining is Zinc. It is stored at a temperature around 560Β°C. When the steel lid of the pot was removed, we saw a green layer forming on the surface. Any idea what it could be?
