A list of puns related to "Spiro (name)"
Why did I need my potassium checked for hrt, like when I got blood work done. (it was okay but still) Also has anyone had success starting with progesterone or should I wait? (Iβm still going to ask my endo a question or two about it regardless just curious what you peeps think) Umm what changes should I notice the fastest? for reference my T is like mid 500βs and my E is like 60; if that matters. Oh also I weigh 103 and Iβm like 5β9 And like Iβm pretty sure Iβll be good but I just moved out of my parentβs and Iβm at a new place with redneck roommates and yeye landlords. So umm if breast development like βhappensβ quickly since like my age or whatever does anyone know a good sports bra that doesnβt show straps?
Thank you
Outjerked again.
Hey, Iβve had some weird side effects from spiro over the years and a friend of mine mentioned there were alternatives but I donβt remember the names. Any one know how I could sub spiro for something with the same effects?
I just wanna put it out there in case it helps anyone else! I always wondered if dairy had any impact on my skin. I believe I am lactose intolerant & Iβve always read studies here and there that consumption of dairy is associated with increased acne/inflammation.
Iβm a 25 F and have tried everything for my acne: birth control, accutane, ect. I started tret .025% along with 50 mg of spiro. Things improved but I was still very oily and consistently getting closed comedones. I cut out dairy 2 weeks ago and I am amazed. Just wanted to share in case it might help someone else.
Are you overly conscious to avoid higher potassium foods? Like look up a chart, see how much is in certain foods, etc.
Honestly, I'm pretty terrified of the consequences of retaining too much without realizing it ya know? Lol
Edit: Thanks everybody for dispelling any worry on this! Seems like the consensus is it really isn't a huge deal but be sure to drink lots of water and don't eat an ass load of bananas.
I got my T blocker today and im so happy but i didnβt expect the taste but hey im still so happy :)
this is a review about BAD side effects i had from spiro. i see a lot of posts on here asking βis x a common side effectβ so i wanted to put my experience up to help :)
the biggest side effect i noticed was VERY low mood. i was tired all the time, but i was also sad. i didnβt realize it was the spiro until i forgot to take it for 3 days and felt SO happy. i felt manic with joy. the depression side effect crept up on me because my derm slowly increased the dosage to 100mg and i didnβt notice. this was NOT listed as a side effect anywhere & i was not warned it could happen. but iβm 100% sure it was the spiro bc i felt so much better after cutting it out.
i also had itchy thighs. my thighs itched every night and would scratch them raw. stopped instantly as soon as i stopped the medication.
weight gain/muscle redistribution: i felt a lot fatter while on spiro despite only gaining 10 pounds. my weight was squishy and jiggly on my upper arms, thighs, and belly, and i still canβt lose it. this seems to be a common side effect
i also developed these weird pimples on my upper arms. this went away after the first month of taking it tho
PERIODS. i had a LONG long period EVERY 12 DAYS. this was horrible. it was extremely extremely heavy (super runny and would soak through pad+tampon in an hour) and last around 8 days. and then AGAIN in 12 days. no thank you wtf
joint pain - my knees hurt so much all the time, esp going up stairs. i felt like an old person. i also felt weaker in general
breasts shrunk - contrary to othersβ experiences, my boobs basically deflated. 32dd to 32c. go figure. ever since i stopped it they grew again and started hurting a lot and feel swollen, so maybe this is some kind of dehydration thing from spiro being a diuretic? go figure
finally, positive effects: it did wonders to clear up my acne - my skin looked like glass :( my excess hair growth also decreased a ton, my actual scalp hair THRIVED because it was less oily, and i basically stopped sweating. my vaginal discharge also decreased, ive always had a lot of discharge and this went away. it was like all the parts of my body that produce excess oil and liquid stopped. my dark armpits (i suspect from insulin resistance caused by PCOS) also went away.
basically it was wonderful and i looked so good. but it was not worth the depression and weight gain lol :((
i hope this helps somebody!!
Tried to upload a pic but this community doesnt allow images. I had perfectly clear skin as of a month ago. Then I had a car accident on Nov 4th. I was very traumatized and stressed after. I think this elevated level of cortisol really fucked with my hormones, namely testosterone production. Because over the span of two weeks Iβve developed a ton of cystic acne all over my chin!! I feel so ugly and I donβt know how to make it stop. I also feel puffy? Like Iβm just carrying inflammation. My face looks PUFFY. I also found a COURSE hair on my upper lip. I usually have a fine haired mustache that I wax but this was a rough little black hair. And soon I anticipate my hair will begin shedding even tho Iβve just started growing it back since my last severe flare up.
I feel like I am morphing into a man overnight. It gives me severe gender dysphoria when my PCOS acts up. I donβt feel like a real girl anymore.
Any advice on how to calm down my hormones?! Iβm already on birth control and 50 mg Spironolactone and yet stress seems to wreak havoc on my body.
just a little background- iβve been on hrt close to 4 years, I take EV injections with a high dose of close to 14 mg (.32 ml) every 7 days (40mg/ml vial), and i took 200mg a day of spiro. those were the only medicines i was on. my estrogen blood tests are consistently 500-600 pg/ml at trough and over 1000 pg/ml when first injecting. my testosterone has consistently been below 15 ng/dl for 3+ years
anyway, I had covid for a month and I literally had to quit cold turkey because i was so weak and bedridden that I could barely even walk let alone use the bathroom that frequently. but now a month later, due to having been on spiro so long iβm experiencing intense rebound effects from having not been able to taper off and allow my body to adjust correctly. I did plan on coming off spiro eventually, just not the way I was forced to
so what I want to know is, will it end the rebound effects if I get back onto spiro and then get off the right way a bit down the line. iβm not just starting back at 200mg a day because itβs not smart after a month off of it cold turkey. my plan was to get back on and slowly ramp my way back up starting with 1-2 weeks at 50mg, moving up to 100 and then finally 200. I plan to stay on it long enough for the rebound effects to hopefully end, and then when things are back to how it was before having to quit cold turkey iβd taper my way back off allowing my body to adjust to getting off correctly
yes I know this sounds like a lot of extra work and a total hassle but I want to do it as smartly and carefully as possible. I need the rebound effects to end. what i mostly want to know is if this sounds like a good way of going about it or should I do it another way? iβm feeling so lost and desperate for the rebound effects to end
Hi! I've just started 100mg of spiro to help with hormonal acne. Looking for encouragement and success stories for motivation :). Overall experience? How long did it take to see a difference? Have you noticed it helps with whiteheads/clogged pores as well as cystic acne?
<3
Like, really grumpy. Usually I'm super chill but not today! I'm worried this might be a sign I'm like not actually trans or something, because the hormones are like interacting with my brain wrong, idk? Anyway yeah. [Angry catgirl noises]
edit: Uhh apparently the flair button isn't working for me ; -; sooo uhh sorry
For context, I'm a 15 years old transfem (probably?), at least half-way through puberty, I have a little bit of facial hair that is pretty much unnoticeable, a somewhat deep voice, and fortunately my body isn't very masculine overall.
I'm not outed to anyone IRL so starting HRT is currently not an option (and besides, where I live it's illegal until I'm 16), so instead I thought using blockers could be a good idea. The easiest to get for me is probably spiro but I could try something else, as long as its not too expensive, since I have to buy it with my own money.
I am aware doing only blockers is problematic if long term, so this probably would only continue for a few months. (Ehhh maybe to about a year really, tho I'd tune it down a bit)
Impulsivity got the best of me and I bought spiro before writing this post (I did my research, I'll be fine). I've been taking a single 100mg pill daily, about 9:30 A.M. Been doing this for only 4 days so far. The extra thirst kicked in pretty quickly, but I didn't notice any salt cravings. I think I am feeling a bit less energy, but that might just be placebo. Didn't feel much different overall.
The goal is to avoid any further changes T might cause- I really don't wanna have to deal with facial hair.
My questions are:
You don't need to answer all of the questions, any guidance at all would help me a lot, and if you suggest something other than spiro, let me know.
Thank you to anyone that responds!
I researched this particular derm before booking an appointment and saw that she offers Spiro and PRP for hair loss. I booked an appointment under hair loss and noted that I also have acne. My acne has been the worst itβs ever been lately, and Iβm 25 which makes me think itβs hormonal. Itβs all along my cheeks and jawline. Basically, I want something prescribed that can help treat both hair loss and acne. I do struggle with derms taking me seriously, though. My part is decent enough that it doesnβt look like I have hair loss if you didnβt know me when I had thick hair, but my temples and sides are definitely noticeable. I have had some minimal regrowth over the past year, but I think that was a small recovery from TE due to stress.. I believe my main problem is my testosterone. When I got it checked in April, it was slightly above the normal range, but again it wasnβt high enough for either of the derms I saw to think it was a problem. Should I just straight up request Spiro from this new derm when I meet with her?
TLDR; have slightly high testosterone. I would like Sprio prescribed for my hair loss and acne. What is the best way to ask a new dermatologist for this?
