I am an American student self teaching myself about Somali history, and I cannot find much information about many militia groups after the fall of the Barre regime in January 1991, any information you have about the group would be very helpful.
I am an ex-Muslim Somali that loves Assyrian culture/history, and I wanted to say how prideful you guys should be.

The former minister of justice was stunned. Abdirahman Janaqow had just heard that the government had effectively legalized murder, and not just legalized it, but provided a cash incentive to partake in it. While he was no ally to Al-Shabaab, he was not willing to allow random murder to take over. And not only that, but prior failures of the Somali Government had already violated the Djibouti Agreement of 2008. They had violated Article 5, and with Somalia burning around them, had chosen to throw fuel on the fire. Janaqow knew that if Somalia was to be saved, it would require an alliance of various views and parties. And it was with that in mind that he called Former Prime Minister Ahmed. Ahmed was appalled by what had happened. In the two decades since he had been Prime Minister, the country had not only failed to meaningfully progress, but had in fact gotten worse. It was time for change. It was time for those who had chosen to protect the Somali People in 2006 to return to the forefront again, and to once again raise their banners as the ones who could save Somalia.
On October 12th, 2029, the banner of the Alliance of Somali Liberation was unveiled. Formed from between the Forum for National Parties, disaffected soldiers who were horrified at their government's act, Islamists who opposed the terrorism of Al-Shabaab, and those who remembered fondly the days of the ICU, when the streets were clean, and the capital wasn’t a battleground. Other, more minor members of the ASL are the Somali Green Party, and various pirate warlords. This broad coalition aims to end the war in Southern Somalia, where they can rebuild a new government, one free from corruption, and one capable of dealing with Puntland, either by force or diplomatically. Violence is always regrettable, but the fools who have been running Somalia have proven themselves to be unable to fix the problem. The organization will also appeal to Somalis living abroad, saying that uniting lower Somalia is the first step in Liberating the Somali People. ASL has recruited 1,505 fighters, and has tens of thousands of supporters throughout the country. The ASL, while not possessing lots of territory, does currently control Harardhere. The forces of the ASL are composed primarily of former soldiers, and they have connections to the existing army of Somalia.
