Help!! Creative Minds Needed!!

My Dad has recently shown a fascination with space and NASA. Long story short, Christmas is coming up and my plan is to surprise him with an all expense paid trip to Florida for 4 days with passes to the Kennedy Space Center. I’d schedule it around a launch so he would be able to see it in person. As well as checking out the area a bit since we’re there.

Which is where I need your help! I want to coordinate hints with presents that slightly hint at the trip. For example, I picked out a NASA tshirt, a space shuttle plush toy, assorted astronaut ice cream, socks that have planets and a rocket on them, mug that says β€œcoolest dad in the galaxy,” a map/atlas of florida, and luggage tags. And the final gift I’m thinking will be a letter that puts all the clues together and would include the plane tickets, car rental agreement, hotel confirmation, and the admission tickets in an envelope.

Can anyone give me ideas on what hints to use??

 • I’m still adding/taking away present ideas so if anyone has any better ideas please let me know!!

Thank you so much!! Any type of help is appreciated!! I don’t really have that β€œcreative” part of the mind... whether it be a rhyme or dad joke-y type hint, it doesn’t matter!

my dad joke i told my dad as we opened presents (early xmas)

My dad is 80.....i'm 53. My sister gave him some stockings (like knee socks) from the Vatican that the Pope supposedly wears. Don't ask why it's not important. Odd gift but anyway.....

Dad: "Hmmm.... well that present couldn't be any holier."

Me: "Well if the socks had holes in them they would be holier."

My Dad: "jesus christ" <while stifling a chuckle>

my 20ish adult Kids: <blank stare and power down look>

I was so proud.

Future wife wears support socks.

Future wife was getting ready for work and put on these socks that I hadn't seen before. I asked what they were and she said they were supportive socks... I immediately grabbed one out of her drawer and put it on my hand like a sock puppet and spoke with a high-pitched muppet voice.

Puppet: You look nice today.
Puppet: You're going to have a great day.
Puppet: You can do it!
Her: What are you doing?
Puppet: Being supportive.
Me: <laughs>
Her: Oh my God.

my 4 year old daughter played me with this one

after a slight, recent issue of my kid putting her shoes on the wrong feet, she hits me with this...

"daddy, not like shoes, socks can go on either foot!"

"youve got it, honey"

i look down a few seconds later... both socks are on the same foot.

"you told me either foot was ok!" she laughed hysterically for minutes.

My wife never saw it coming...

I got my wife with a rather unexpected dad joke last night.

I generally don't like surprises, with only a few exceptions. Last night, I come into the bedroom and she is wearing a white corset, matching panties, knee high socks, and high heels.

She asks "Is this the kind of surprise you might like?"

I respond with a big dumb grin on my face, "Of 'corset' is!"

It almost cost me a fun night, but it was worth it.

I did it!

I have a 3 yr old but I'm not good at dad jokes yet. But just now I finally did one.

It's morning and I'm not wearing socks. Little one asks "Daddy how come you have bare feet?"

Me: "Well, it's better than having duck feet."

She was getting ready for a birthday party and comes running in:

Her: "Dad I can't find any socks to wear, and my favorite pair has a hole in it."

Me: "Well don't throw them away you can wear them to church on Sunday."

Her: "Huh, why?"

Me: "Because they're hole-y."

Her: "Uuuuhhh, daaaad."

I feel proud.

I misplaced a very small tool

Today my wife and I decided to go to the store when she got home from work for stir-fry supplies. I hadn't gone anywhere all day, so I had to grab my shoes and socks. I guess I'd misplaced one of my tiny screwdrivers from my toolbag and it had ended up inside a shoe. It plopped out into my palm when I tried to shake out the shoe, which prompted me to turn to my wife and exclaim, "Phew! That was a close call! I almost really screwed up my foot!" She gave me a look that said 'I am way too tired to deal with this nonsense'. Stir-fry was fantastic, though.

My father in law said, "yeah. I've been getting holes in my socks and have been throwing them away, too."

I said, "Left and right?"

The hidden puns of LexisNexis

Years ago I used to use a LexisNexis database of companies that would give corporate information like name, address, and general business description. While most of them were pretty bland, there were a bunch of them with some really cheesy puns, and over a few years I built quite a collection.

Today I share with you "NEXIS IS RIDICULOUS.txt":

 • Bucyrus International caters to those who mine their own business.
 • It would be logical for Mr. Spock to boldly go to Vulcan International for rubber products. He might even live long and prosper -- in comfortable shoes.
 • What do manufacturer Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) and 1970s band Grand Funk Railroad have in common? They both want you to do the locomotion!
 • Peter Piper can pick more than a peck of peppers or pickles from B&G Foods.
 • Toray Plastics America could sing "foam, foam on the range, where the polyester and polypropylene materials are made" all day.
 • Break out the Tums, because things are awfully gassy over at Air Liquide America.
 • If a tree falls in a Weyerhaeuser forest, someone is there to hear it -- and he has a chainsaw.
 • Although not a pushover, you can walk all over Wilsonart International.
 • Here's a HEICO haiku: HEICO companies/ Providing for jet engines/ In flight or on land.
 • American Italian Pasta Company (AIPC) uses its noodle in many different ways.
 • The golf industry doesn't mind when Aldila gives it the shaft.
 • Rat-a-tat-tat and a ringa-ding-ding. What's that? Answer: The sounds emanating from Pearl, one of the world's foremost makers of drums and other percussion and musical instruments.
 • Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics deals powders and crystal, but there's no need to call the cops.
 • Pamida Stores Operating Company offers more small-town values than a bandwagon of Republicans on the campaign trail.
 • Like a tight end, offshore drilling contractor Transocean dreams of going deep but doesn't mind eating a little mud.
 • Rittal me this, Batman!
 • Utility Trailer Manufacturing is spreading its own brand of reefer madness.
 • Who is the Fresh Prince of Sullair?
 • If GrafTech International were a bard, it could wax poetic in an ode to the electrode.
 • When it comes to adhesives and vibration control products, LORD knows.
 • You might say that Deere & Company enjoys its customers going to seed.

My Grandpa on his death bed

Nurse: Aren't you hot in there?

Grandpa: I haven't gone to hell just yet.

Nurse: laughs Where are your feet?

Grandpa: At the end of me legs.

This was in 1998. He was bundled up in some blankets, and the nurse was about to change his socks. And yes, he said 'me legs'. Not sure if that qualifies as a dad joke exactly, but it's a fond memory.

One of the best comments my Dad's ever made

So one day, I was kneeling in my living room looking for a pair of socks in a pile of clean laundry. I sort of had my head hunched down and my arms stretched out in front of me.

This was like 3 or 4 years ago now, but it still cracks me up.
