A list of puns related to "Sleeve gastrectomy"
According to my calculations if I gained 10 pounds I would qualify. What would you do!
So Iβm right at the beginning of my journey, Iβm still waiting for my initial appointments.
But Iβm thinking long term here, so post surgery, once your all healed etc, what can you not do?
Obviously itβs all about moderation etc. But can you still drink beer? Spicy foods? Is there anything that you definitely cannot eat?
Iβm sorry if Iβve worded this so badly ππ€£
I started working towards surgery in late October and upped my water intake considerably around that time as well. I went from around 30 oz. of water per day to 70+ pretty quickly. But Iβve found that as I drink more and more, I just keep feeling thirstier. I have started exercising for the first time in a long time, but not excessively. And I am drinking more water to compensate. I was recently tested for diabetes and that was negative so it isnβt that (thankfully). Does topiramate make you thirsty? Why will my thirst not be quenched?
Lately I have been thinking too much about having a sleeve gastrectomy, I started looking on the Internet and when I least realized it I was already in the bariatrician's office obtaining information. It should be noted that I am 40 kg overweight, I am in the third level of obesity and I start to get sick ... Part of me wants to do it, so far it seems that my insurer would cover all the costs but I am still anxious... Is a very big decision and I don't know what to do. I am at risk being fat but I could also be at risk in the operation, anyway I have to do something to take all this weight off my shoulders. What would you do if you had the chance?
I'm currently 48, at 5'4" and 242 pounds. I HAVE lost a significant amount of weight in the past without medical intervention (133 pounds), but regained all but 43 pounds of it during my divorce and the years after. I cannot seem to find that girl I was when I dropped the weight before. I'm considering weight loss surgery. At present, I do not have any co-morbid conditions, but it will take me probably almost a year to save up enough to pay for it. Those of you who have been on this journey, what would you say to someone like me? Do you regret your surgery?
EDIT: Please note, I am not blaming my ex in any way for my weight gain. Only stating that because of the pain I was in, I lost my mojo and gained 90 pounds back from where I'd lost to. (The separation was 5 years ago.) I recognize that I am ultimately responsible for my own body and my own choices.
My pain while in hospital was minorβwouldnβt rate it higher than a 2. But they took me off of the morphine and I didnβt get out of bed from there until discharge, so I didnβt know how much pain there was until I stood up to leave. Yesterday was pretty gnarly. Today is a smidge better... How long did abdominal pain stick around for you guys? Just looking for an accurate expectation to try and get me through this.
For my part, the pain is a tugging sensation, like all of my right side abdominal muscles have become inflexible and donβt like it when I have to stand up or sit down.
EDIT: For the record, I was feeling pretty normal human again by day 7. Iβm on day....11? And Iβm pretty well functional at this point. I can sleep on my side (and my stomach if I felt inclined). I can bend over. I can load the dishwasher. Those first few days are quite the doozy, though.
Help... extremely overweight father needs help
35m, 175cm (5ft 8in), 175kg (385lbs) Husband and father of 3 kids (4yr, 3yr, 1yr)
Extremely obese and scared for my life.
Been fit and healthy most of my life but put on 65kg in the last 15 months after a change of life style and some heavy depression.
After failing at sticking to a diet consistently and gaining multiple health issues like high blood pressure and sleep apnea I have decided to get sleeve gastrectomy.
Iβm 7 days out and have been sticking to the shake diet but had a bad day today and took to the bottle and pizza... Iβll get back to the shakes tomorrow but scared my liver will be full.....
Am I doing the right thing here? Is there anything worth knowing before I get it done?
Does anyone regret it??
Iβm worried about exercising post opp (when healed) and getting fluids in as well as the occasional beer.
Please help. Share any thoughts or advice or your own stories.
Hello all, I have severe reflux disease that has developed after my VSG in July of 2016. I lost very minimal weight, maybe 40 lbs after my VSG. I have to constantly keep something in my stomach to prevent the burning in my stomach up into the back of my throat. I often have food shoot up into my throat and mouth, with no warning, that I have no control over. It doesn't matter how much or how little I eat...it still happens. I also can only lay on my left side when I sleep or food or drink will come up into my throat and mouth. The enamel on my back teeth are now being damaged. Last summer during a routine heart scan they noted that I have a hiatal hernia. I have tried every acid reflux medication, both OTC and prescription, and it does not help.
My question is, if you had a revision done and the hernia corrected, did your insurance pay for the revision?
Edited to add that I have high blood pressure and probable sleep apnea with a BMI of 38.
I'm in my 30s, 5'3" and about 215. I was initially interested in ESG and I live near a center that is well known for the procedure. However, the more I research, the more confused I am. I have scheduled a consult but before I go, just wondering if anyone had anything to offer?
Did anyone find the sleeve changed the effectiveness of their antidepressants? Did you believe it made them more or less effective? Iβm on escitalopram (lexapro) and Iβm getting a sleeve in September so i want to be prepared for what it may bring me. I am stable with my lexapro for my panic disorder and was wondering if the sleeve may make me need to increase or decrease my dose or if people found it didnβt effect it at all. Thanks :)
Hi all! I have been going back and forth on getting this done for months. I hear amazing result stories, but also alot of people who had buyers remorse. I was curious to hear facts from people who know, what some of the drawbacks are. My insurance covers this procedure so I'm not concerned financially, I'm more nervous about the pain and side effects after the procedure. Thanks!
