Self hypnosis block

I've been into hypnosis and self-hypnosis for a while now. Being hypnotized by someone else has worked quite well so far, even tho it was just for hyonotherapy. The hypnotherapist installed a codeword with which I can into trance anytime.

Now, my brother gave me a book about hypnosis for christmas, it covers everything from hypnotizing others to self hypnosis. I've been trying the suggestions and tests in the book (e.g. making my left arm not feel pain anymore, forgetting number 5 and so on) and really none of that worked. I'm not saying I'm not suggestable and I'm definitely in trance because I fall aslee quite often but I'm slowly losing trust in hypnosis. I really want to learn self hypnosis but either this book is trash or I'm fucking up.

Also the author is undergirding how great hypnosis is with some weird ass stories (people getting blisters bc of hypnosis) which I simply don't believe. Maybe that's the cause hypnosis doesn't work well lately?

Whenever I did self hypnosis and tried a "trick" it still felt like it was up to my own will if I followed the suggestion or not. I never got a wow-moment and I'm slowly getting disappointed

How do I practice self-hypnosis in my setting?

I don't know if self-hypnosis is something that's discussed here, but I couldn't find a dedicated Subreddit for it, so I'm asking here.

I want to be able to practice self-hypnosis, but my setting makes this difficult. I have a younger brother who is isn't ten yet, and as can be imagined, is very loud, and my older brother, who plays acoustic guitar for a good few hours almost every single day. The most important question I have to ask if how long self-hypnosis takes, specifically for lucid dreaming? My family would be perfectly happy to be quiet for an hour or so, but anything longer than that is sadly out of the question, and I have nowhere else but in the house to practice it.

Thanks in advance, and once again, sorry if this isn't the place to ask! <3

Accidental Manifestation - Self hypnosis as a tool

Guys, I am so stunned right now..

Exactly one week ago, I stumbled upon a book while cleaning my apartment. It's about Self Hypnosis. I believe it's from 1964 and was written by Leslie M. LeCron (and it's called.. uh, yeah, "Self Hypnosis"). In one of the very first chapters a method for self hypnosis is described. Since I've read that in a hypnotic state you get a very direct connection to your subconscious mind I thought this would be very helpful for SATS, affirmations and visualizations. According to the book, while in a hypnotic state, the subconscious mind "accepts" all kinds of affirmations and visualizations much more and nearly without any doubt or resistance. ("State akin to sleep"-bell ringing)

Trying the methods for the very first time I was suprised about how relaxed and focused I could get. For exactly one week now I've been using it to relax and to fall asleep at night (I actually manage to fall asleep within 10(!) seconds by now which alone is a tremendous benefit to my life!). So I used this method every night.

The method contains deep breaths, a nearly "forced" way to relax every single muscle in the body and a visualization of yourself taking an ecalator "down into the depths of your subconscious mind" while counting backwards from 10 (stepping of the escalator when you reach 0). It only takes 10-15 Min.

For me it worked every time. Since I so much enjoyed the relaxation I didn't even continue with any affirmations or visualizations until today except the "Okay, when I open my eyes I will turn out the light, count to 10 and then immediately fall asleep"-order I gave myself.

So far so good. But here it comes:

I just came home. I was at the mall for the very first time in months. And in that mall, in which I would always take the stairs or the elevator, today both (stairs and elevator) where blocked due to construction works. The only possible way back was... an escalator. (Don't ask me why, but when I entered the mall, the elevator was accessable. Only when I wanted to leave I was told to take the escalator. So I really only took it DOWN just like in my visualizations before reaching the hypnotic state every night the past week). Standing on the escalator I started to realize what was happening and was totally blown away.

Now, I know this was just an (unintentionally) altered version of the ladder experiment. And for us, knowing that the law is a real thing, it doesn't even seem like a big deal.

But for me, three things are very

Self-Hypnosis is one of the best skills I've learned to help manage ADHD

Self-Hypnosis, which is just concentration on guided internal stimuli, has been immensely helpful in managing some of my symptoms such as comorbid anxiety, physical/mental discomfort, and restlessness/racing thoughts.

Even when my thoughts are racing, I find that I can guide the direction of the thoughts, like a sailor moving a sail. The wind can be chaotic, but the boat follows a general direction. Racing thoughts bring me deeper into hypnosis because I can immediately respond to all arising thoughts in a positive manner.

Here's some tips I use to help manage ADHD symptoms:

  • Internal Utilization/Incorporation: Utilize and incorporate all arising thoughts to deepen the experience. Have negative thoughts? Good, you can use this opportunity to allow them to wash away, literally.

  • Managing restlessness: I find it impossible to not shake my leg, unless if I intensely concentrate on just that thing. However, I have had some success with hypnotizing myself and imagining my legs are either very heavy, or burried deep in sand on the beach. This has relieved my RLS for up to an hour.

  • Insomnia: I've been using hypnosis to fall asleep at night ever since I learned about it. I imagine my body getting heavier and heavier, one part at a time...And I suggest to myself that my thoughts slow down the heavier I feel. Now I can take midday naps!

  • Confidence: Watch yourself at a distance in a situation where you once had anxiety or self-defeating thoughts. Notice how you're now relaxed, confident. Notice your body language, and what you're saying to yourself. How others respond. After playing this for a minute or so, you can transfer to the "you" you're watching and experience it first-hand.

  • Focus: Still working on this one! Watch yourself at a distance focusing on the task at hand. Notice how your eyes/gaze is directed at the task, how your thoughts are attentive, etc.

  • There is no wrong way to do self-hypnosis, at all. There is no failure, only success, and I honestly mean that.

If you have a specific need, look up "hypnosis" + whatever it is on https://scholar.google.com/. There's a lot of good literature on hypnosis, including double-blinded studies with some pretty resounding findings.

You don't need to visit a "hypnotherapist" or spend money on courses, etc. It's a skill you can learn completely free, and probably already do to some degree. There are free resources available on the internet. This is not a replacement for meds, therapy, or a cure-a

How do you achieve a deeper trance when doing Self Hypnosis?

Self-Hypnosis Trick: Internal Utilization & Incorporation

Remember that, at the most basic form, self-hypnosis is concentration on internal stimuli, with "you" generating the internal stimuli in pursuit of a goal. This is remarkably effective, in fact much physical rehabilitation is done through guided imagery (imagining throwing a basketball repeatedly actually helps you physically do it, so basketball players who are injured and cannot shoot can practice via what is essentially self-hypnosis.)

During Hypnosis, especially self-hypnosis, you may find that you experience distracting thoughts at times, such as a song repeating in your head or even intrusive/unwanted thoughts.

You can not only non-judgmentally observe these thoughts, as par standard mindfulness, but use them to enhance your experience.

"Experiencing this intrusive thought now allows me to change it for good."

"The song playing in my head brings me deeper into hypnosis."

(You may find it better to state things in third person, for extra disassociation.)

Nothing arises in the mind without reason. Contents of consciousness reflect physical neural activity. Getting a song stuck in your head is actually you remembering that song. An intrusive thought arising allows it to be addressed and changed, because every time you recall something, it is reconsolidated.

Through this, you build rapport with your unconscious, your hypnotic trance will deepen, and you will experience everything free of worry.

Yoga Nidra - Self-Hypnosis to Overcome Issues w/ Semen Retention

Howdy fellas! Lately I've been diving deep into my yoga nidra practice and it is paying dividends, in semen retention and beyond. Thought I’d share my thoughts on this practice.

Yoga nidra means β€œyogic sleep”, and it’s based off of an ancient tantric technique known as nyasa. Nidra is a powerful method of deep relaxation combined with a type of hypnotic auto-suggestion. You listen to any one of a number of pre-recorded scripts that allow you to drop down into, and stay in, the hypnagogic state - that state in between the waking state and sleep. You may be familiar with this state - as you’re drifting off to sleep at night, sometimes you’re in this odd place where half of your mind is already dreaming about making some pancakes while unicycling, with the other half of your mind still awake and thinking, Huh, weird... It's the twilight zone of the mind.

One of the features that distinguishes yoga nidra from other non-sleep deep rest (NSDR) techniques like hypnosis is the inclusion of something called a sankalpa, or resolve. You use this resolve to affect a big, major change in your life. Generally you want to think big here - even changes such as β€œI want to lose weight” or β€œI want to quit smoking” are usually too small. However, for those of us constantly struggling to stop masturbating to porn, or those of us struggling with wet dreams, we can permit a smaller, more targeted sankalpa for now.

What I’m proposing here is the use of yoga nidra and its sankalpa or resolve to help us start changing the mind and personality on a subconscious level. It’s generally well known that it’s difficult to change the mind with the mind - that’s why in yoga, we don’t start with intense meditation, we start with the body through yoga postures and the breath through breathing practices. The postures and breathing practices not only induce a state of calm alertness through which meditation becomes much easier, but changes the whole body/mind complex over time as well, gradually leading to a deeper understanding of ourselves and life in general.

The best part? There's practically zero work involved, beyond lying down and listening to a short 10-20 minute script.

For your sankalpa, you can do smaller, more targeted resolutions if you’re really struggling with specific things. State them as if you already have fixed the problem, for example, β€œI am free from wet dreams” or β€œI no longer experience wet dreams'', or β€œI am fre

How can I make suggestions during self-hypnosis?

I have successfully hypnotized my partner many times. Now I would like to do self-hypnosis as well. But I am not sure how to do it. I am confident I can get myself into a trance state, but how would I then suggest anything to myself? I mean if I am unconscious, how would my conscious mind continue with any suggestions? Judging from the state my partner is in when I hypnotize her, I would find it hard to believe she would still be able to do anything without my guidance. That includes the question how I would get myself out of the trance state without having to wait for minutes or even hours until I wake up naturally. Does everyone who tries self-hypnosis record audio files for themselves to make sure they make the right suggestions at the right time? I suppose that wouldn't be as effective as being able to adjust to the situation in real time. I am confused because all the online tutorials I find basically stop after explaining how to perform an induction on oneself, and they don't say what to do next.

from notes on self-hypnosis

I see a lot of discussion on long-term projects here (like shifting), so I thought of a chance that someone would find my recent notes useful or else hilarious.

β€œΠ”Π°ΠΆΠ΄ΡŒ ΠΊΡ€ΠΎΠ²ΡŒ ΠΈ ΠΏΡ€ΠΈΠΈΠΌΠΈ дух”. The blood of our life is time. The quality of the blood can be different, and a connoisseur might enjoy themselves a particular or a special vintage (Dracula 2020).

β€œHypnotic behaviour is meaningful, goal-directed striving” (White 1941), and the job of a hypnotist is primarily in offering a quality time in order to make that striving meaningful or interesting. Hypnotist is a time chef.

Self-hypnosis offers a greater challenge, as a person needs to entertain and operate on themselves, turning the water into the wine always (John 2) and yet keeping a certain temperance about it (Father Henry Obst in Wild Cards 1). It is relatively easy to use self-hypnosis for momentary tricks (John 5:8), where the motivation takes care of itself through novelty or urgency. It is in handling the larger projects where the mastery of self-hypnosis is tested.

Initially the motivation might be lacking for such a project, because the resources of it are focused elsewhere, and no stable or habitual Higher-Order-Thought (HOT) loops exists yet to maintain the effort. Such a practitioner can be likened to a paralytic (Mark 2:3). To address this we change the material structure of a life (Mark 2:4; Charles Duhigg - The Power of Habit) in order to make space for a hypnotic process. We make an audio tape that one can listen to passively, like a paralytic. We use the ticking of a clock or music with a particularly strong rythm (Royksopp - Coming Home) to give a self-hypnosis suggestion something to swing on. We use symbols and other habitual cues to automatically rekindle the process. We're skate-hitching (skitching), borrowing momentum from whatever emotions and activities available to us.

Self-hypnosis and guided meditation instruction: What do YOU want? If you could identify a goal that you want to achieve, and if you knew how self-hypnosis is practically, easily and quickly done, what is that one goal, or perhaps two, that you would want to use self-hypnosis for?

In my practice as a professional hypnotist, I plan to focus predominantly on self-hypnosis, because I am on a mission to help you bridge the gap from where you are in your life right now, to where you’d rather be.

One-on-one sessions with a hypnotist is all good and great, but most people want to be shown how to do things for themselves. I know, because I wanted that for myself too.

And to this end, I am designing in-depth self-hypnosis programs that would include detailed instructions that are practical and to the point. From how to induce self-hypnosis, to deepening this altered state of mind, to using the tools available, all the way through to emerging from the experience and enjoying the automatic response.

Since this is such a time consuming exercise, I wonder whether you would tell me, in two or three words if possible, what the you goal is that you would want to use self-hypnosis for.

If you prefer, you could send me your response in a direct message, but what I am after, is to find out what you want. I mean, something like self-hypnosis for β€œself-confidence”, or β€œweight-loss” or β€œfear of public speaking” - anything like that.

I ask so that I could prioritize what I would work on first.

Thanks for your help.

I undertake to not try to sell anything to you. If I do, you may quote me, name me and shame me.

Sensory hallucinations from self-hypnosis and general advice?

Hello! A while back when I was reading Elman's book Hypnotherapy I came across his section on "autosuggestion"/self hypnosis. I thought this was pretty fascinating, so I've been giving it a try myself with somewhat limited success. I've so far managed to get various effects he associates with "light" hypnosis (eye and general catalepsy, sticking body parts together and similar) but haven't been able to really do anything much beyond that. I'm very interested in being able to help with pain or mood problems and perhaps experiment with sensory hallucinations but I haven't been successful in that yet. Most likely it's because I don't actually real somnambulism- I've never been able to achieve amnesia so this would make a lot of sense. Does anyone have any tips or good resources for achieving this? Thanks.

edit: There seems to some confusion, when I say hallucinations I mean removal of pain/touch sensations, not visible or auditory.

I did self hypnosis and connected with some spirit. Please help.

Hi I tried that spirit guide hypnosis on YouTube and some one communicated with me. He told me he is a demon, strange because the video was for contacting my spirit guide. I asked the name and the name azazel popped into my head. I don't know a lot of demon names and I have never heard that name before. When I searched the name I was very shocked to see that it was a name of a powerful demon. So about me my life is hell right now. I have been backstabbed a lot by most of the people I cared about. Friends, family. Even strangers. Every one seems to really dislike me and they are actually planning to destroy me in every possible way and they are winning to some extent. I know that someone has done a curse or hex on me. But I am fighting every single day and started getting interested in the occult. . That's when I started watching tarot on YouTube. Then to self hypnosis videos.

I stopped hypnosis after 3 times because I was a little scared. I felt real presence and physical touch. I felt like some one lying on top of me but I panicked and told to don't do that. It never happened again. Then after months I started again because life was getting very bad. But now when I ask name it say that its name is asmodius. I looked it up and it was also a powerful demon. But this one does not give clear answers to my questions and most of the time I feel like I am talking to myself. I asked about azazel and he told he wont come because I didn't respect him or something. Azazel did ask me to connect with him every night. But I was lazy and a little scared.yesterday I really felt a presence. It was very cold. Like my hands and fingers felt numb and the room temperature was freezing cold. It wanted to communicate with me but I didn't feel safe so I ignored it.I am very new to this and have some questions.

So is it really azazel and asmodious or some lower level demons lying to me ?

Is it some human spirits messing with me because I read somewhere that the spirits or their ectoplasm is very cold.

Why can't I connect with any angels or spirit guides(I really don't know what spirit guide means, but I hope they are for supporting me)

Should I continue doing self hypnosis? Is it safe to do on my own ?

Will they really help me or they also like every one else betray me( I know it is stupid to ask if demons are trustworthy but there can be exceptions, right?)

Please forgive me if I broke any rules or offended anybody.
