... keep reading on reddit β‘One of my closer brick walls is Adam Heuring who was born 1 Apr 1831 at Ostheim vor der RhΓΆn (at that time just Ostheim) located in the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenachβ¦historically Thuringia and today part of Bavaria. My working assumption is he was Catholic as his wife Margaretha Volz (m. 10 Oct 1854 Monroeville, Erie, OH) was devoutly Catholic as were her sons and descendants down into the 20th century.
Adam Heuring came to America aboard the βNeptuneβ which sailed from Bremen to New Orleans, arriving 10 May 1852. Passenger list states he was from Ostheim. Another passenger from Ostheim was Christian Becker listed right next to Adam on the passenger list, both 21 years of age. Christian and Adam could be cousins.
Adam died a few years after arriving in the US on 28 Jul 1858 at Bellevue, Huron, OH.
Looking for Ostheim church books as Iβd love to trace him back further. Iβve successfully traced his wifeβs ancestry back into the 1600s in the area around Bensheim in Hesse. Believe the church at Ostheim is Catholic with the closest Protestant parish at Sondheim so Archion isnβt useful. Many people with Heuring surname around Ostheim vor der RhΓΆn nowadays but the surname is rare to nonexistent elsewhere in Germany.
I poked around online and came to the rough conclusion that it would require an in-person trip to the church itself as the church books donβt appear to be digitized.

The Reims Cathedral was darker, but perhaps that was fitting thought the aged Emperor Naruhito as he climbed the steps of the Cathedral's large entrance - one of the last to arrive for the coronation of King Jean of France and more importantly, the declaration of German victory over the West.
And as Emperor Naruhito walked the hall, he couldn't help but notice the banners and flags that adorned the Cathedral's heart. To think such a flag, the flag of the Black Sun would rise once more across not only Germany but of Western Europe was all too surprising. Taking his seat, he could see the other attendants as well which lined the pews. The Habsburgs and WΓΌrttembergs in one section, the Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach in another. Towards the front sat the Gulf Royals from the RIGS, and in a small corner barely catching anyone's eye, sat not only Prince Valdemar of the CNK and perhaps, more importantly, his [Naruhito's] nephew Prince Hisahito of Akishino. With the ceremony just about to begin, there was nothing he could do other than nod a greeting, it would be some time yet before Hisahito would return from Europe.

The tide was out so it was possible to get quite a long way down the beach and position the sun behind the pier structure. South Parade Pier was opened in July 1897 by Her Serene Highness Princess Edward of Saxe-Weimar a resident of Southsea at the time.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
