My first time to shoot a revolver: the Ruger LCR 22LR that I had just bought. Iโ€™m very experienced and a pretty good shot with semi auto pistols & rifles plus pump shotguns, but I have a ways to go to tighten up these hits at 5-7 yards. Regardless, Iโ€™m loving this new revolver. reddit.com/gallery/rhkjmy

Whats a better pocket pistol, ruger lcp max or ruger lcr?

Im leaning towards the lcp max. I like the lcr but it doesnโ€™t seem practical.

Ruger LCR .22 vs S&W 43C velocity

I saw a video claiming that the Ruger got more velocity out of a given .22 round than the S&W even though the barrel lengths are the same. The problem is, the person measured the Ruger velocity but was taking the S&W figures from someone else. This raises all the โ€œnot the same conditionsโ€ or testing methods issues.

I know a bunch of issues could lead the a difference in velocity out of a similar length barrel (rifling, forcing cone, distance from cylinder, etc) even if all the other conditions are fixed (atmospheric conditions, testing methods, etc).

My question is, has anyone tested the two side by side (Ruger LCR .23 and Smith & Wesson 43C) and determined if there is a significant differenceโ€”100 FPS or more)?

Traded in my Ruger LCR .357 for this S&W Airweight .357. Absolutely a better gun, feels incredible to shoot, much more comfortable to shoot .357's out of. Now that this gun is off the bucket list, only need a Chiappa Rhino to finish it off!

What caliber should I get my Ruger LCR in?
  • I currently have a Glock 19 9mm as my personal carry/main sidearm.
  • I am now looking for a backup/concealable/SITF last-ditch gun.
  • After doing some research, I have decided that the Ruger LCR fits my needs. But now I am having trouble deciding what caliber to get it in.
  • My Top 3 Choices
  1. 22lr-The reason I am considering getting it in 22lr is that the ammo is cheap and plentiful and if the SHTF, 22lr will be the easiest to scavenge and collect.
  2. 9mm-My main gun is already in 9mm, so I will not have to buy more than one caliber. Plus, a 9mm revolver would make a decent backup/concealable handgun.
  3. .357-While I would get the LCR in .357, I would only use .38 specials in it due to the lesser recoil. The plus with the .357 is that it can fire two different calibers, which would make it easier to scavenge for ammo if the SHTF.
