If Jack Torrance attacked Danny in the fatherly love scene, a Monday according to the title card, why does the attack in room 237 (and Wendy noticing Danny's bruises/ripped shirt) occur on Wednesday?

I just finished watching it, while it was fascinating I think it relied much too much on conspiracy theories and coincidences. But what I came on here to discuss is, I'm wondering if Douglas Adams and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is relevant in some way. They go on so much about the number 42 in the documentary and Douglas Adams wrote THGTTG from 1978-1980 the two years leading up to the release of The Shining, and as any Hitchhiker's fan knows it took Deep Thought 7.5 million years to work out the answer to life, the universe and everything was 42. Spooky.

It's from the documentary Room 237, though I don't remember which one of the commentators said it. I've heard a similar sentiment as to when you remember something you're actually rewriting the memory in your head each time you remember it so it's not completely the same memory as when it was first created.

Has anyone else noticed instances of room 237? I’ve been re-watching through and just noticed that in heeeeere’s lassie Amy lives in apartment 237. And in Neil Simon’s Lover’s Retreat Clive pays for dinner signing room 237. Upon googling, in Shawn (and Gus) of the Dead Shawn takings pictures of that guy who almost replaces Vick going into motel room 237. Any other instances of room 237 anyone can name? I’m so curious now! Oh darn I guess I’ll have to watch through again..

i’ve seen many mixed reviews about it. i’ve watched the shining (1980) about 8 times. I’ve watched MANY analysis videos on youtube, i know almost every theory, been to every hotel it was based on, but idk if i should watch this. is it good, bad? let me know

I'm a keeper seeking a group of 3-5 players for a long-term weekly MOTW campaign in the above setting. I would prefer players with little or no experience who want a relaxed, no pressure environment to try out a TTRPG. I would especially prefer players who are LGBTQ, women, of color, or belong to any other identity typically marginalized in nerd spaces.

This campaign...

• is tonally similar to the movie Fargo: dark humor with absurd twists
• places just as much importance on solving mysteries as fighting monsters
• is accessible to new players - no need to learn a bunch of complex mechanics about the world to play in it
• is fleshed out, and has been running for about a year (!) with another group of extremely deliberative and thoughtful hunters

You should have...

• time for one 3ish hour session nightly each week (must be available on one of these days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday)
• a desire to learn about this world just as much as you act upon it
• an open mind about what a tabletop game looks like
• enthusiasm for worldbuilding in a "normal" setting
• an interest in sci-fi, horror, mystery, and/or humor
• a working webcam and internet
• a respectful attitude toward the keeper and other hunters
• an affinity for the Minnesota nice accent

You don't need...

• any game-specific supplies or software
• any prior experience with roleplaying or paper-and-dice games
• a preconceived character in mind
• to study a lot of rules or setup; the mechanics of this game are a quick read

I will provide...

• a unique, multifaceted story with memorable situations
• copies of the game literature
• custom character sheets (if desired)
• a safe, low-stakes environment to try out something new
