A list of puns related to "Robert Schumann"
Dislike is too strong a word - but I often see him left off many lists of great pianists and piano composers. When I listen to great works like the Op.17 Fantaisie in C (as well as many others - Op. 15 springs to mind!) I struggle to comprehend this.
It’s a genuine question, not a complaint/moan. I have heard things like “he’s not pianistic”… which, albeit as a lowly intermediate player, I struggle to understand. In the music I’ve played so far of both his and other composers hands, they all have their challenges and awkward hand movements until they’ve been practiced enough to feel normal. Why does Schumann seem to get singled out as particularly ill fitting to the piano?
