A list of puns related to "Richard Linklater"
I know a lot of people are disappointed in the newest season of Master of None, and I definitely get that. It's a completely different show (hence the "Presents" subtitle), and it's not really a comedy anymore. Though it had some missteps, I overall enjoyed it, and it reminded me a lot of Richard Linklater's "Before" trilogy. If you've never seen those, they're three movies (Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight) that follow two characters, Jesse and Celine, at very specific and different stages of their lives--the first two movies only cover one day each. Each movie is separated by 9 years, so you get to see how much people change over a long period of time.
Master of None season 3, to me, is like a very condensed version of that format. You follow two people, and each episode is basically a snapshot in time, with several years passing between the first and last episodes. It's definitely a much more "adult" season than the first two and isn't nearly as funny, but there were a lot of moments that made me smile. I'm happy Aziz took a risk in trying something new here. It won't be for everyone, but if you go into it with an open mind and not expecting anything like the first two seasons, you might like it as well.
I saw a post on Tarantino's best characters and i thought it would be fun to discuss your favourite characters in Linklater's films.
Ideally i would like to know the name of the character and the film, the person playing that character, and a reason why you like that character.
It's not easy to decide with such a rich assortment of interesting characters, but to get things going my choice is from Slacker (1990) - 'Should Have Stayed at the Bus Station' played by Richard Linklater. It's a cameo with a fabulous flowing monologue. Who better to introduce us to his unique and wonderful world of characters and stories than the great man himself?
There are no right or wrong answers, only your favourites, so please be kind and respectful with each other's choices.
Alright, alright, alright you can start naming now...

Movies/books/etc. about meaning in mundane human life. Art about people who are just people.
Edit: Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
Notable mentions are Quentin Tarantino and Guillermo Del Toro. I am hoping to find other writer-directors like those listed above. Itβs bothered me for years that none of my favorite directors are women, so any and all suggestions (especially non-white men) would be great! I think what I like most about these directors is how they clearly define their vision and turn it into something so tangible and real within itself. I do prefer writer-directors as opposed to βjustβ auteurs, because I feel like having that formative connection to the story in such an absolute way is essential to creating that interconnected world of new reality. Thanks in advance!
Iβm a big fan of Slacker, Waking Life, Dazed and Confused, the Before films and Boyhood. Iβm looking for a book that feels like any or all of these films or others by Linklater.
TIA!
