Elizabeth Holmes, Trevor Milton i Mate Rimac

Glavni argumenti;

  1. Elizabeth Holmes zapošljava.

  2. Procijenjena vrijednost Theranosa je 10 milijardi USD.

  3. U Theranos su nakon iscrpnih dubinskih analiza u poslovanje, istraživanja firme do najsitnijih detalja i vrhunski obavljenog due diligence-a koji su vodili najbolji i najveći svjetski stručnjaci u tom području uložene milijarde dolara, samo neki poznatijih, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Walgreens, Safeway, The Walton Family, Larry Ellison, Carlos Slim, Rupert Murdoch, The Cox Family, Betsy DeVos, Don Lucas, Tim Draper, Betsy DeVos, a priču je doslovno popušila i USFDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration).

Word of the day: πολύτροπος

19/01/22

In the year 399 B.C., a philosopher was charged in the polis of Athens with the charges of impiety and heresy, and corrupting the youth. This revolutionary thinker, Socrates, was to be sentenced to death, and despite many opportunities of escape and exile, the philosopher decided to remain in Athens and accept his sentence thus exposing political immorality, helping to redeem harmony amongst a fractured polis. In 2022 A.D., a classicist posting Greek words daily for the amusement of his fellow Redditors was temporarily banned to post his frivolous, yet informative posts with charges of deleting a comment, editing a comment, and defending the integrity of his followers’ intellect via the use of uncouth words. This unpretentious criminal is no other than myself, ὦ ἄνδρες Ἀθηναῖοι, and to what extent my exile shall, like the death of Socrates, go on to disclose immorality amongst my accusers, I know not.

πολύτροπος (OP: Seriously, though, I am extremely glad to be back and sincerely apologise for breaking the rules of the subreddit. I have missed posting these posts. Still continuing with my lessons in Homeric Greek, I thought we could kickstart my return with one of the most famous epic Greek words: πολύτροπος. Here is the word as it appears in the opening lines of Homer’s Odyssey:

ἄνδρα μοι ἔννεπε, μοῦσα, πολύτροπον, ὃς μάλα πολλὰ
πλάγχθη, ἐπεὶ Τροίης ἱερὸν πτολίεθρον ἔπερσεν
:

Tell me, O Muse, of that many-sided hero
who traveled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy.

Whilst I (and the majority of you) can read the Greek and understand the denotation of πολύτροπος, rendering the word in adequate English in less than two words is damn-near impossible. Being considered an epithet of Odysseus (despite the word only occurring twice in the Odyssey), today’s word of the day is a compound of πολῠ́ς (much) + τρόπος (turn). Together they go to imply something akin to our man of the world (sans the crude undertones) or much travelled [and consequently more versatile]. What is extremely important here is that we do not allow Odysseus’ personality and fame to contaminate the definition with terms such as shifty or wily. The word did evolve to have such connotations in later Greek literature, but best to keep such terms at the door whilst studying a word at a particular place in time. Being such a word that is notoriously hard to illustrate in Engli

How big of a blowout can the best players in history manage? A short experiment.

As this year we come up to the 15 year anniversary of the biggest blowout in modern Major League Baseball history, I thought it would be interesting to assemble the best hitting team I could possibly think of to beat the worst team I could think of.

#Meet the team!

The "Wow these people good!" is the team name, and it is a hodge podge of the greatest individual hitting seasons from players ever.

1 George Brett (1980) 3B
2 Arky Vaughan (1935) SS
3 Barry Bonds(2004) LF
4 Babe Ruth(1921) CF
5 Ted Williams(1941) RF
6 Lou Gehrig(1927) 1B
7 Rogers Hornsby(1924) 2B
8 Mike Piazza(1997) C
9 Snake Wiltse(1901) P

This is what WhatIfSports.com, the website I am using to simulate this game, suggested as the best batting order, so I'm sticking with it.

And you might be wondering who tf Snake Wiltse is, well he is the pitcher with the highest single season OPS for a pitcher with a minimum of 50 plate appearances, and we're gonna need all the fire power we can get, so I decided for him to be on the mound, it's not like we can lose, right?

#Meet the opponents!

You may have thought the oppponents would be the 1899 Cleveland Spiders, who had an unbelievable 20-134 record, but you would be wrong!

The opponents will be the 2019 Orioles, who gave up the most home runs per 9 innings pitched than any other team in MLB history, a staggering 1.9 HR/9!

David Hess will be the starter for the Orioles (with his 7.09 ERA), and it is time to simulate!

#Simulation (click here for the full play by play of the game!)

And literally one game in, I think I found it...

A 61 run win for the "Wow these people good!".

Here are the important tables...

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 - R H E
2019 Orioles 1 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 1 - 5 11 1
Wow those people good! 0 4 22 1 9 13 12 5 x - 66 63 1

As you can see, the Orioles amazingly had the lead for 1 full inning! Scoring a run in the top of the 1st, and ending the bottom of it with just 1 hit surrendered. But it all fell apart, quickly.

He

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
