A list of puns related to "Relativity (M. C. Escher)"
They all gave me some weird stairs.
You all really loved last months Theme because we had a tonne of entries!! But after the dust settled, you decided that Armory Project by /u/attejaime was your Favourite of the Month!! It'll be up in the subreddit header for July!!
on to the next one! /u/DRN_OI chose a really fantastic theme for July, I hope you all respond as well to it as you did June's theme:
The task is up to you to create a Still or animated render that shows your artistic skills and creativity.
In The spirit of the theme, the Mods have added an additional caveat -
###BLACK AND WHITE IMAGES/ANIMATIONS ONLY THIS MONTH (shades of grey accepted.)
You can take the theme in any direction or interpretation, exercise those creative muscles!! So you can make a Perpetual Motion Machine inspired by 'Waterfall', or an impossible room inspired by 'Relativity' or perhaps a Tessellation pattern inspired by 'Reptiles'
... or maybe you just want to make a 3D render look like a lithographic print, or you make a render about Lithography.... who knows. Or maybe you have a really unique interpretation that I haven't mentioned. I'm looking forward to them all! So many options! The key is to be inspired, and maybe try something you haven't tried before.
You can submit your entry by simply creating a new post on the subreddit before (and including) the last day of the month.
##Please include โ[July]โ in your post title so we know you're in.
Some guidelines:
Hand with Reflecting Sphere is perhaps the most well-known example of Escher's work.
Relativity is another.
I don't have a clear view of it on my head but I'd like to see a surrealistic world featuring work of M.C Escher. His designs were often dreamlike, full of optical illusion and he often had them in lithograph. I'd really like to see his design called Waterfall. Avakin could have the water moving, but if you study it, you'll see the Penrose triangle and the impossible way it has. Also his design Relativity, where avakin can have bots defy gravity, some standing sideways, some upside down, perhaps some of them can move a bit, and it would have the impossible stairs and multiple views. I'd really like to see also the impossible cube and a bot would be sitting and contemplating on it. Maybe the place could also come with the impossible cube as furniture or wearable on your hand. Also feature a tessalation design of his. Avakin should work with an expert on Escher on this, perhaps along with an artist and mathematician.
There are other surreal artist that perhaps Avakin can collaborate with. Many of them are painters, some still alive, some featured in the book, Masters of Deception. A few of my favorites are Igor Morski, Rafal Olbinski and Rob Gonzalves.
Well that's it for now. I've made so many suggestions within less than 24 hours. Time for me to rest! Good luck everyone!
