A list of puns related to "Recurring jokes in Private Eye"
I've wondered this for a while. Mangione is so consistently incorporated (even though for about for seasons he was absent as a character). "Feels So Good" was released in the 70's, I believe, and it was released circa 20 years before the first KOTH episode aired. Did someone working on the show know him or something like that? I've always thought this was one of the most interesting celebrity cameos I've ever seen, especially given that I was born in 1992 and was not too familiar with him until I was a preteen/teen.
while running a game last night, it was pointed out to me that i put bureaucracies in everything (royal courts, town councils, monster unions/managers in dungeons, etc.). do any of you have any such recurring jokes/themes/ideas in your games that you didn't intend to put in but happened regardless?

James and Elyse seem to make the joke the most often when they say 'but what are you doing in the game?'
Whenever someone says something ridiculous about the gameplay, like Lawrence saying 'i'm harvesting the rich innards of this planet...sucking out all the goodness' Elyse says 'yea but what are you doing in the game?'
James makes the same joke a lot in Board as Hell and I just wanted to say it makes me laugh everytime.
Iβm a 19 year old woman, currently studying. I have noticed my left eye going blind every time I stand up. Itβs been happening for about a month now. The vision loss goes on for about ten seconds before everything going back to normal. Iβm not sure if my left eye is blinded completely, but thereβs a significant loss on field of vision on that side.
I have had dizziness when standing up before, but nothing severe and it has not been happening for a while. I have other health issues but nothing neurological or eye related, I donβt even need glasses. Although I have a history of multiple concussions, I recovered from the last one in about 8 months and havenβt had any symptoms since.
I donβt think itβs anything serious and I donβt want to strain the healthcare system during this crisis. If anyone has any ideas what this could be I would be curious to know!
Iβm adopting a 6mo old double Rex boy this week and his current owner has been using Neopolydex and Prednisolone drops. She says that her veterinarian is out of stock atm, but she has enough to get him through this week. My usual vet (the only rat vet in Philadelphia) will be out of the office for who knows how long. Does anyone know which pet medication sites have them in stock so I could maybe get a prescription over the phone? This city is sooooo lacking in rat specialists π«
I have this one running joke where the UEEF (the military force protecting Mankind's interests in space) constantly recieves equipment that is obsolete/poorly made/inappropriate for the task at hand. For example, they have a tank that they are told is meant for urban warfare. The only problem is... this tank is massive. It eventually is referred to as "the roadblock", because of its tendency to get stuck in alleys. I offer no explanation for the lack of good equipment other than that the people in charge are idiota.
How easily Ben deflects the attention back to Henry for his dad being an NYPD officer with a questionable past just shows how great friends they are and it makes me belly laugh every time.
I love this show. HAIL YOURSELF FUCKERS!
Is it migraine or sinusitis headache?
Mine is definitely Yanny breaking all ties.
I'm doing a project on the longevity of the show!
My favourite joke is Emily's inability to keep a maid, what's yours?
Okay so there's this gag I feel like you see decently often in manga and anime. Someone is walking and bumps someone on the street. The person bumped is actually a Yakuza/delinquent head honcho looking type, flanked by a couple goons who get irate at the person that bumped him, trying to extort money from them as part of a scam ("Look at what you made the boss spill! Now his expensive suit is ruinedβ you better pay for it" kinda thing).
Anyways, what's that called/is there a name for that scam? And does anyone have any examples of it used for jokes in anime or manga? I've definitely seen it in Gintama- found it in the popularity poll arc with Otae and Sarutobi extorting Tsukuyo, but haven't been able to find it anywhere else in the series/in other series. Would appreciate chapter/episode numbers or links to panels
My ~6 month cat broke her leg at the femur head and had surgery on Jan 15 to remove the "ball" of the joint so that she could create a new joint..vet mentioned her joints were not as round as they should be. She had fallen off the top landing of our staircase. :(
The following week she showed symptoms of cat flu, probably from another cat in the kennels.. I gave her oral antibiotics and eye ointment. She was sneezing and had watery eyes. It was hell. Cone on her head and the torture of squeezing a syringe in her mouth 2x a day and squeezing ointment in her eye 4x a day. Her symptoms went away within a week and a half, but she continues to have recurring weepy eye in one eye. Sometimes there is no wetness, and other times she has tears. Not sure if I should get another round of eye ointment or give it more time? I've tried researching and I've read things about blocked tear ducts for example. Should I go to vet or try a remedy at home?
At least twice the presence of figs is mention for Michaelβs 15th anniversary party - is this a reference to something?
When introducing to my appartment I obviously come up with a similar introduction everytime. Some is just straight forward information, some are jokes.
For instance, when introducing somebody to the bathroom I always say "If you run out of toilet paper: don't panic - you find more here" which always get's a smile out of people.
Do you crack jokes or funny phrases, when welcoming new guests?
Some examples:
He thought that Romeo & Juliet had a happy ending.
He thought that 127 Hours involved the guy just kinda wiggling his way out.
I canβt remember the others off the top of my head, but I know there are other instances of him doing this, often with him assuming that movies with sad endings have happy endings because he never finished them.
I love every time the characters come up because they always have a quick line about something that you wouldn't expect from them (that's how jokes work).
I don't know, it's one of the recurring jokes that I don't see mentioned here all that often and it is one of my favorites. Just thought I would mention it.
For the past 4 years I constantly have been getting problems with my right eye. It started with conjunctivitis. I would get an infection in my right eye every 6 months (literally exactly 6 months). After about 2 years the conjunctivitis became more regular and occured every 3-4 months, same eye always.
In August 2018, I developed shingles - rash on right side of temple and swollen red, painful and infected eye. This lasted about a week, ever since then I've been having problems with my eye ONCE a month. It's now either conjunctivitis or shingles once a month.
I've been to see my GP a number of times and been to A&E Eye clinic as well and none of them seem concerned AT ALL. I've had blood tests, eye swabs, nothing has came up. It's really started to affect me mentally as it's becoming such a nuisance
I work in a bank, so it's not like I'm getting dirt or anything in my eye while at work, something internal is causing this. Can someone please give me advice on what I can do, even what to say to my GP to escalate this further?
The one that makes me laugh every time is the "I'll give you 300 yen" line in Gintama.
Obligatory danger zone reference.
For example, Frasier is one of the funniest sitcoms I've ever seen but I think the jokes about Maris (Niles' never seen wife) are incredibly weak. Also "EAGLE!" from Scrubs.
