I came across this quote today by Marshall Segall from his book “killjoys“ and it explains exactly how I felt about the idea of God’s love being reckless.
"The God who made heaven and earth has been treated by all mankind—every man and woman—as worse than a slave. There’s nothing reckless about a God who writes the story, beginning to end, every page, and then carries it out in unexplainable, relentless, and sovereign love."
The scene opens shortly after the close of PWA Battery. Cynthia is being helped to the trainer’s office by her husband Titus Love. She is holding an ice pack to her head as she gives her husband and earful.
CYNTHIA: “That is IT Titus! That is the last straw! First, you LOSE one-on-one to that big ugly behemoth, EMBARRASSING me in front of the whole PWA Armada. Then because of YOU, I got beaten up by that mean nasty Bobby Fame tonight at Battery! I mean, honesty Titus, what do I even keep you around for?! You are nothing but a weak link and I’m TIRED of you holding ME back from the glory that I deserve!”
TITUS: “Now honey-muffin, wait a minute. I was out there fighting my hardest. I would do ANYTHING to keep you safe and happy.”
CYNTHIA: “You want to make me happy Titus? Then teach that cap-toothed grand stander Bobby Fame a lesson for me! You FIGHT that robe-wearing, slick-haired spray tan like a MAN and defend my honor!”
TITUS: “Of course! Anything for you my love!”
Titus turns to the camera.
TITUS: “You hear that Fame!? You hurt my beloved tonight and you embarrassed me! We weren’t prepared to fight you tonight. You… you BLINDSIDED us, changing a fair contest into something perverse with your interference! Let’s see what you can do when you don’t have the element of surprise on your side! I challenge you Fame! And not just in any type of match. This one is for my wife’s HONOR. So I’m pulling out all the stops. I want you one-on-one, NO HOLDS BARRED! No ref stoppages, no rope breaks, no-illegal moves. Just two MEN getting it on in the ring! I don’t care if it’s on Assault, Battery, or in the back alley, I’m coming at you and your FACE can’t take what I’m gonna dish out!”
Titus and Cynthia push past the cameras and head into the trainer’s room.
The scene opens backstage at the PWA Arena shortly after Battery. Titus Love is sitting on a locker room bench with a bag of ice pressed to his head. His beautiful wife Cynthia is pacing back and forth in front of him, pouting.
CYNTHIA: “It’s just not FAIR honey-bear! After all the love and kindness we showed that giant hippopotamus, he just kicked us to the curb for Damion Black and his stupid CAMP?! Nobody snubs Cynthia Love like that! Mark my words Titus, we’re going to get our revenge!”
TITUS: “What my golden-haired goddess wants, she gets! I’m gonna rock Average Jo’s world! When I get my hands on that big slab of meat, I’m gonnna…”
CYNTHIA: “Oh shut up Titus! We all watched Battery. You HAD your chance to fight for your woman’s pride and you BLEW it!”
TITUS: “Now wait-a-minute sweetie-pie, you’re not being fair. I fought like crazy tonight and I almost had him!”
CYNTHIA: “Oh boo-boo. What does ‘almost’ buy me Titus? Does it get me championship gold? Does it wash away the disgusting scent of BETRAYAL?! You can take your ‘almost’ and shove it. But this isn’t over! Because Reckless Love is a UNIT. Together we are strong, and together we’re going to make Jo pay!”
Cynthia pushes past Titus and glares into the camera.
CYNTHIA: “You think you can embarrass Reckless Love, AJ? You think that just because you got by Titus tonight, you can just walk away? Well think again! Next Battery, I want you in this ring! But not one-on-one. That wouldn’t be fair. After all, I’m a delicate flower. No… a big strapping MAN like you likes it two-at-a-time! So Reckless Love challenges you Average Jo! Fight the combined might of the most underrated tag-team in PWA! You know it’s a fair fight, because you still outweigh the two of us together! So I think it’s time PWA saw what kind of ‘man’ you really are. Meet us in the ring if you dare!”
Cynthia sneers at the camera and smirks as the screen fades to black.
I've been pulled over going 130 and gotten away with it. I make sure to never leave the left lane or go below 90 on the interstate. I make sure traction control is OFF in bad weather and slide around all the non-villains
Smurf is a great character but a pretty evil Mom. Hanging out with your kids as they do blow and risk their lives and freedom isn’t redeemable. She’s supposed to be the adult. You can’t argue with the results either. One fucked up family from top to bottom.
