A list of puns related to "Radio audiobook"
Bit of a nerd about folklore and early history (less battles and who wore what silly hat and more how did people live, what did they think, what technologies and traditions did they use) who's woefully ignorant when it comes to indigenous Australian stories.
I would like to learn more about the Australian history and culture that didn't come over on tall ships.
Less interested in contemporary and the modern political struggles/preservation efforts (except insofar as they relate to communicating historical stuff) which, before you crucify me, I do know is important but it doesn't generally make for relaxed listening when I'm trying to and learn during tedious work and get away from it all.
Anyone have some suggestions? Keep finding the same handful of shows that seem to focus on contemporary culture.

I donβt know if this is even the right place to ask but since I am looking for fantasy/scifi based stories i thought I might as well. I know some people donβt like sound effects in their audiobooks. But I think I would like it and want to give it a try. I am completely new to audiobooks but I have enjoyed old timey radio dramas in my native language, so I think I would like it. Please recommend me some audiobooks that makes use of it, or even actual podcasts or radio dramas really. I am primarily looking for fantasy and/or scifi stories but anything(crimes, mysteries, not horror tho lol) is welcome really. Thanks guys
I really want to sort these properly I guess you can sort all of these like music and just do something like `artist/album_or_single/track.mp3`. I was wondering if anyone sorts these into other specifics. I know the datacurator github seperates audiobooks and music. The main one that was on my mind was meditation audio which one would be best categorized?
I got sent over from r/books and I said I liked the goosebumps horrorland audio books because they added sound effects to the audio and I liked how it added more to the story - They sound like old time radio shows. Another one would be like 13 reasons why where 2 voices narrated the diffrent characters ( a male and female voice). I like the added unusual play on the audiobooks rather than it being dry. I had this problem when I listened to the Harry Potter books, I loved it at first but I just lost interest.
Another book I read that I loved was world war z where diffrent people actually voiced those being interviewed. I thought that was cool.
Overall, I'm asking for a good audiobook, preferably horror, that adds more sounds or I guess "variety:)" in their audiobooks.
Seriously though? What are you thinking so hard about? Are you planning a murder? Are you worried you may have not hid that body well enough? Did you just kick a puppy? That's a dark place to be man. There's no way sitting in silence while you drive is a positive or enlightening experience. It's weird.
Edit: Not deaf people. Can deaf people legally drive though? Idk. But deaf people are definitely not all psychopaths.
Weirdly enough when I paused the audiobook to talk with the other people the sound also stopped, I guess my brain can just block out noises when itβs relevantly silent in the dream.
How weird.
To preface: I started a job with a 45-60m one way commute. I'm using podcasts and audiobooks to skill up on the drive. No music so only basic sound quality is needed.
While looking for a solution for my tundra (which has a known AUX jack issue), I happened upon a bluetooth FM transmitter that plugs into the 12v power under the HVAC controls. Tried it last night and it is unbearably bad. To the point of returning it or chunking it. So many other signals bleed in and it fades in and out. One strange thing is the sound quality gets very good only when I am cupping the unit in my hand. It's an Ankar Roav F3 that I got from best buy.
I would like to keep the stock radio. While the car is modified, something about me wants to keep the interior original. My next solution is just a bluetooth speaker alone. My fear on that is the constant charging, etc.
I have a really nice pair of Jabra earbuds but it gets old wearing those since I already have them in most of my day at work. Any help is appreciated.
And yes I know...first world problems. Thanks again.
So Iβm quite new to lovecraft Iβve listened to βthe shadow over innsmouthβ radio drama by the BBC and much preferred this to a normal audiobook reading as I find them quite boring. The same guy (Richard coyle) has also done a radio drama of βat the mountains of madnessβ but itβs only 2 hours 20 minutes long compared to the usual 4 hours 50 minutes Iβm seeing for the other audios. Thatβs quite a big difference, am I going to be missing out going with the bbc version or does it not really matter, cheers.
And honestly, I've been enjoying it so damn much!
No ads, loads of short/mid/long sf audiobooks and radio plays.
I'm sorry if posting this isn't allowed on this sub or if this has been posted 100 times before, but I just had to share this with my fellow nerds.

So far my favourite book has been Deathworld by Harry Harrison.
I would love to do a weekend or even a month of solitude, but not sure of parameters. I really enjoy audiobooks but don't know if people consider that to NOT be solitude.
So, for you, even if there is no physical person around but there still is noise, is it solitude?
Let me know what you think, I've got thick skin.
I'm looking for an audiobook on CD I heard around 2000-2007. Strong Wizard of Oz themes. Main elements I remember:
- It was a musical: the first number was the main character singing about living in a house with roses with her dad, who then died
- There was a fisherman/woodsman the protagonist was warned against talking to by the 'Glinda' like character, but she did anyway and was given a magic whistle
- the quest they were given was to retrieve the witches magic eye (this may be from something else)
- I'm not sure of the companion characters were traditional WoO sidekicks, or something else
- in the end, 'Glinda' turned out to be the witch in disguise, and so her warning about the fisherman was her trying to prevent the protagonist from getting her hands on the magic whistle.
- the protagonist uses the whistle to shrink the witch away into nothing
It's also definitely not The Magic Flute
Thanks!
Hi guys I just finished all 6 movies and I really want to read the books, i dont actually like reading so I will resort to audiobooks, should I do the bbc radio play or the actual audiobook on audible? Thanks
Obligatory this happened yesterday.
So, some backstory. My roommate participated in and is currently a contestant on American Idol. This has led to a small bump in attention for him from local news sources, radio shows, etc. He hasnβt really gotten attention like this before, so heβs been pretty excited/nervous about the whole thing.
I, howeverβ¦ well, today was just another day. I started my morning the same way that I always do. I put on my audiobook (Iβm currently on the 14th book of the Wheel of Time!), did my morning routine, and started my commute. When I turned on my car and started to put my work address in my GPS, I heard a small voice ask, βwhat is happening?β from my car speaker. I quickly looked up, saw a call, assumed it was a butt-dial and pressed βEndβ. I looked to my roommate in the next car (who I had just noticed), and realized that his phone must have been connected to my bluetooth since he connected his bluetooth to my car previously (He had a jazz cover of All Star he wanted to show me). I shrugged it off, desyncβed his phone from my car, and drove away.
A few minutes later, I receive a call from my roommate. βHey, uhh, so I was just live on the radio for an interview when I cut out for a bit. They later asked me if I was listening to Star Wars or somethingβ¦ It happened around when you were leaving for work. Do you know anything about this?β It turns out that he was being interviewed by a large, well-known radio show in Atlanta and I had been live on the air in front of literally thousands of people.
It dawned on me. My car was connected to the radio. Thousands of people heard me listening to a cheesy passage from the Wheel of Time (concerning honor and wolves). My nerdiness had been broadcasted for all of Atlanta to hear (and apparently get scared by) and all during what couldβve been my roommateβs big break...
MORTIFIED
TL:DR: Roommateβs phone connects to my car during a radio interview that might have been huge for his career. Unaware of this, I play a few cheesy fantasy sentences for thousands of people to hear and hang up the interview.
Edit: Apparently they posted it online! It's around the 4 minute mark, but it's better with context imo http://thebertshow.com/articles/did-a-demon-just-interrupt-our-interview-with-american-idol-contestant-grant-cowan/
Any recommendations of an audiobook that is acted out or many narrators? I like sci-fi, horror, action, and mystery.
Thank you.
So I'm listening to the δΈδ½ "radio play"οΌεΉΏζε§οΌand really enjoying it! I'm not sure how much they abridged, but as a format, I think it's a lot of fun. I'm curious if people know of any other (good) stories in a similar format with a high production value?
