A list of puns related to "Public holidays in Belgium"
Guys
Just a reminder friday 21/07 is the national holiday in Belgium, meaning all busses, trains will run on Sunday schedule and most shops will be closed.
Be sure to check everything in advance if you're planning on arriving Friday.
I'm tunisian, I got a job offer in Brussels that I finished by rejecting it. β‘οΈ They said that first year no holidays are possible 100% work. β‘οΈ Also there are no learning days in the contract which means I can't travek to conferences to learn or to share my knowledge.
Is this normal guys? Is it in all contracts no holidays first year?
I feel interested to work in Belgium as a Software Tester but this condition isn't a positive factor. It seems not good for mental health.
Saw the other post and thought this would be a good discussion topic. It's hard to properly differentiate holidays since not everyone will celebrate their "designated" holiday eg. Not all Chinese celebrate vesak day, not all Malays celebrate hari raya.
Other than racial/religious holidays, what other uniquely Singaporean holidays can we have?
LKY's death anniversary as founder's day?
National roti prata day so we can all enjoy Singapore's number 1 snack together?
Or how about 11.11 aa durian day because the date is the spikiest?
I live in Belgium and we have a small communist party with just 2 years ago politicians in all governments regional and federal. They even have someone for the first time in the european parliament now. They want free wifi, free public transportation and increase the minimum wage to β¬ 14 / hour. They want to pay all that with a tax on the super rich of 1%. That would make up for 8 billion. They went to court and won because the government wanted the people to pay a tax to fund the solar panels. The communist party won that and people now pay β¬100 less each year. Our communist leader wrote a book 'They've forgotten about us', it's about the working class. It got a lot of media attention and they have a lot of people who follow their facebook page. They have a spokesman who's perfectly bilingual. My friend who isn't a communist called him a beast. He's right he says. I've never been to their protests and I am not a member. But I'm going to buy a t shirt from them with a feminist slogan and I'll put a poster of the party on my front windows. I have to admit in my teenager years I had a flag of the USSR hanging in my room. So what's the state of communism in your country? Do you have a communist party? What do they want to change? Our leader is pretty charismatic. If there's no communist party in your country, do you vote for socialists? Thanks!
It's Christi Himmelfahrt. It's also fathers day in Germany.
Because I know that some people will be surprised by this:
Tomorrow is a public holiday in all of germany! (International Worker's day). All shops will be closed (With very few exceptions). If you need to do some shopping for the weekend you will have to do it today!
I am just curious about your view on this. I lived in a country with much more public holidays and noticed the positive impact of this on people's lives: seems like they bond with family more, have more hobbies, and get to travel a bit more. Why would you not want to have more holidays?
Just an FYI because not everyone is aware: Monday is a public holiday in Barcelona (Segona Pasqua/Pentecost). All public administration buildings, schools, unis, most workplaces and lots of stores will be closed.
ALSO:
Some of you have probably heard about restaurants and bars opening until 12 midnight. This applies immediately from today.
The title itself.
I'm traveling to Europe for my first time and will be arriving in Brussels on August 15th. Since it's a public holiday, will most places be closed? I was hoping to spend the day exploring the city. Does it make more or less sense to visit Bruges instead of Brussels first? I only have four days in Belgium. Any insight is appreciated!
