A list of puns related to "Psychopathy in the workplace"
Hello -
Would it be possible for someone to help me get a decent translation of the dark triad behaviors into Latin? The literal phrases are Narcissism, Machiavellianism, and Psychopathy. Going a little deeper into the meaning of the words as they're used, we have the obsession with one's own Self, with one's Influence on others, and one's Remorseless pursuit of their selfish goals.
This person is the anti-hero / antagonist in a short story and this would be something that defines them to the protagonist, and also to the reader.
Thank you in advance.
After my first brush with a sexist joke made by my boss, my dad gave me some advice that has served me well over the years and I thought I would share.
Whenever someone says something that is sexist/racist/otherwise inappropriate respond with βIβm sorry, can you repeat that?β (βIβm sorry I must have misheard you?β/Other variations) EDIT: In the UK we use βIβm sorryβ as the same meaning as pardon. Didnβt know this wasnβt universal!
The person almost never repeats themselves. Itβs a clean and non confrontational way of showing you disagree with someoneβs statement without calling them out. I never wish to be the woman who awkwardly laughs along and sometimes we need a non confrontational way of dealing with things to get through the day.
Side note: I did once have someone repeat it and I responded βoh dear, I guess I did hear correctlyβ. It was only a colleague so was fine but I donβt know if it have the guts to call out a boss like this (but as I say, 1 person out of the many Iβve used this on) hope it might serve you well too.
I am actually shocked by how much of my numerous baffling past experiences and quirks overlap with anti-social personality disorder.
I always had major issues showing my emotions to people as a kid since I quickly learned that emotions are just vulnerabilities for other people to exploit. Although emotionally closing myself off from the world protected me as a kid, as an adult I cannot show the people closest to me that I may have love for them nor do I really understand how to process those kinds of emotions.
I have always had an issue with authority and although I never managed to push my luck far enough to end up in jail, I am no stranger when it comes to dealing with the law. I now realize that if I keep up with this behaviour I am either headed for an early grave or, end up in prison.
I have already been receiving treatment for various other mental health disorders (anxiety, depression, substance abuse etc) for a few years now but just the thought of telling anyone I know that I may have anti-social personality disorder frightens me and I don't know if that's because I'm in shock or because I have toxic motives....
If itβs still just the old boys club hiring women as a way of convincing themselves theyβre progressive, then theyβre not progressive.
The marketing department really gets away with more "fashionable" attire and accessories in my company. As a young woman (23) whose life pretty much revolves around work, I sometimes feel out of touch with certain fashion trends outside of the workplace; what's acceptable and what's not.
I know hair clips/barrettes have made a comeback after the 80's/90's fashion revival - do you guys think I could get away wearing a couple of these clips without looking outdated? I know it was a hot trend for a while and I'm worried that that ship has sailed...I hope not because they're so CUTE.
Thanks!
Update: Turns out I have a friend that works for the architecture firm that designed our building, and confirmed that the bathrooms are indeed a safe zone. Peep holes are full height and wheelchair height for visibility out. Thanks r/rbi for all your comments both serious and funny, you all are a smart community!
EDIT: Seems like a lot of you are saying this has been around for awhile. And that most of us relate. Do you think this will change over time, or is the fact that this has been around for decades without much change a sign that weβre doomed to this way of life for longer? What are some ways we can help this phenomenon or prevent it? Love the discussion ladies. Letβs keep it going!
I love hearing stories about people on the FIRE train, and how it allows them to be more confident at work or put up with less bs. Does anyone have any stories to share?
