A list of puns related to "Philippine Merchant Marine Academy"
I am 16 years old and a rising junior. My GPA is very good (~3.8). I am in solid physical shape and working out daily to improve. I have many extra-curricular activities that I participate in as well.
I had wanted to attend a service academy from the time I was 5 years old. But then from age 10 until a few months ago I had some medical issues and I kind of realized that it would be basically impossible for me in my condition. Recently things have taken a drastic turn for the better and all of a sudden I'm starting to think about it once again.
Everything that I've read online makes me think that the Academy is a place I want to seriously consider. I just had a few questions I wanted to ask about it because there is a surprisingly low amount of information out there on the internet.
How good of a school is it? The average SAT scores and GPA numbers I found online have me thinking that I would get a pretty solid education here
How much can I expect to pay in yearly tuition? I found information saying that most costs are covered but there are still some expenses on my end
I've seen that about 1/3 of graduates end up going into another branch of the military as an officer upon graduation. How exactly does this work? Could I graduate and then immediately start as an officer in the Navy or Coast guard alongside graduates of those service academies? Is there something I'm missing here?
What kind of job options would I have down the line? Like if I do my required time but then decide that I don't want to stay in the merchant marines long term. How good is the Bachelors of Science I would earn? Am I less likely to get a job over someone with the same degree from a regular university? Is it the other way around?
I know that the USMMA has a very low acceptance rate but I still think it is something I would like to pursue at this time. I really appreciate anyone who can take some time out of their days and help me out here.
I still have quite some time to go and I donβt want to jump the gun too soon as I am going into my plebe year, however I do know that USMMA offers a lot of opportunities after graduation, the NOAA Corps being one of them. My plan is to go for Marine Engineering and Shipyard Management; would this be something useful in the NOAA Corps? I just think that this is such an interesting service and would absolutely make a career out of it if I could! My other question would be, is anyone on this sub a graduate from USMMA? Thanks!
Schools had previously postponed all fall sports.

Hi! I'm still a high school student and was thinking about my career plans. I believe my career path is suited for Naval Architecture and or Marine Engineering and wanted to know this community's thoughts on going through the process for college.
Good evening, I am heading out to be a sponsored prep candidate for the United States Merchant Marine Academy. I will be attending New Mexico military institute this year and USMMA the following year. I was wondering if any of you had knowledge or knew anyone that has knowledge on becoming special forces out of the academy. Any information will help. If anyone has gone through the process and had insight that would be awesome.

Hi, I have been looking into maritime colleges. My best option, with my gpa and all would be marine deck technology at Seattle Central as they do not require gpa/sat scores for application. Would attending here be good for wanting to join merchant marine as an officer, because with the Merchant Marine Academy and other higher ranking schools could it be harder to find a job?
