I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Founded in 1974 by Minister and Overseer Lacy Hawkins. I don't write this to bash or attack anyone or anything specifically but to write to provide context for the leadership of how this organization looks from an outward perspective. I intend to be rather comprehensive and will not pull punches.
I grew up in a string of churches dating back, as far as I can find, to the early 20th century. The history is fairly rich and inspiring, yet tumultuous and dubious. Connected directly to various awakenings in the past century this group has branched off into an innumerable amount of sects. I was born in 2000. My mother left a branch of this group at the same time. About a year or two prior Lacy Hawkins separated himself from this group claiming "to move on with God". It was not without reason. Lacy Hawkins had stayed with this group for years.
It is tradition that all the churches associated get together for "meetings" or conventions a few times a year to "mingle their wine". Often, they ended up becoming screaming matches between ministers with opposing beliefs. Arching throughout the civil rights movement this group was divided over the issue of race and religion. "Could a black man go to heaven?". The group as a whole, across the country, under various names, had segregated congregations. Lacy Hawkins being one of, if not the only African-American minister had many African Americans flock to his congregation. He spearheaded many civil rights attempts in the organization, attending meetings by himself and arguing for interracial marriage; often painting himself a target for racial indignation.
By the year 2000 his congregations had surpassed the largest of churches affiliated with the group. Eventually totaling 3 churches in the bay, and 1 in southern California. He had also branched to Tyler, Texas and was gaining influence in Ashland, LA.
His separation from the group that I'll call 'Gospel Assembly' was not taken well. Particularly by my own family. My mother loved the conventions held at Lacy Hawkins' church, and my father just flat out didn't like that a man of another race
