I was told today that the reason I am pro vaccine is to collect a paycheck. I work in pediatric oncologyβ¦
I acquired COVID last week, despite being boosted. I made a post on my personal page about how terrible Iβve felt and how grateful I am that I got the booster because I would have been so much worse off. My (dead) ex boyfriendβs mother commented on it, linking to several anti vaxx/science sources. She then told me to, βkeep collecting my paycheckβ with pushing the vaccine.
I had kept this woman as a βfriendβ out of respect for my dead ex and the fact that she had never started any nonsense with me. But this? This shit is hurtful. She knows what I do for a living and still opted to follow that brainwashed train of thought. This woman is a marketing professor at a prestigious university. She knows how to utilize peer reviewed, evidence based studies. How did it get this bad, where intelligent people have become this insane?!! (PS- I removed and blocked her quickly).

My tag collection! Finally lined them up and realized I may have a problem. Iβm only missing 2 tags from the very first two items I ever bought when TF first started and I have a sunflower hoodie coming in today. And Iβm sure Iβll spend half my paycheck on the new drop tomorrow but itβs fine

What would you do if you didn't have to collect a paycheck, still wanted to do DevOps, but weren't sure about working a standard 9-5 job anymore?
Let's say you found an old USB drive containing 30 BTC from an even older tech conference and suddenly had the ability to retire early (not that I did, just an example), or that you suddenly had enough passive income from, say, real estate investments or something similar. What would you to keep learning in the field, stay current, and contribute back to the community? Just curious.

Don't think of Episode 200 as a clip show. Think of it as a retrospective. It's a love letter to the fans. A retrospective of all the times Bimmy used to care before he was dragging his feet and collecting a paycheck.

Will there be any tax issues if I work from home overseas while collecting US paycheck?
I am currently a graduate student (F1 international) in a US university and I am paid a monthly stipend which I have to do taxes for. I am currently in my home country and the school is asking me to go back to the US even though all my classes are online. Would there be any tax related issues if I stayed home? When I did my taxes, I recall having to report the dates when I am in the US and I am wondering if that will cause any issues if I were to receive my stipend while not being in the US.

[TOMT] Reddit post/story where a guy was βfiredβ from his job but continued to collect paychecks for years
If I recall, he showed up to work, attended meetings, etc. but his job was supposed to no longer be on the books. There was an error where he was still getting paid. I think heβd show up for work and just do nothing all day and collect a check, but there were close calls of him getting found out. I recall it being quite well written and a long story.

[MD] Laid off, struggling to collect my last paycheck
Hello,
I was laid off from a startup due to restructuring about three weeks ago. Since then, the date that I should have received my last paycheck has come and gone. I reached out to the head of HR about it, and received no response (possible it went to their spam folder I suppose), after not hearing back, I reached out to the head of the company, who told me she'd "circle back as soon as possible." That was three days ago. I don't expect to hear back. I'd like to escalate this issue to let them know I'm as serious as possible about being paid for the work I did during my last pay cycle.
What would be the logical next step?

TIL that if you a part of a religion in some countries (like Germany) the government takes money out of your paycheck to give to the church. If you want to stop this, you can formally declare that you are leaving the church, but then the church may refuse to administer marriages and burials to you!
From Wikipedia:
>The church tax is only paid by members of the respective church, although the concept of βmembershipβ is far from clear, and it may be asked what right the secular state has to tell the faithful what contribution they should make to their own denomination. People who are not members of a church tax-collecting denomination do not have to pay it. Members of a religious community under public law may formally declare their wish to leave the community to state (not religious) authorities. The obligation to pay church taxes ends once such a declaration has been made. Some communities refuse to administer marriages and burials of (former) members who had declared to leave it.

I just got canned for telling my boss that me getting a paycheck on payday is non negotiable
Mobile formatting, blah blah. Last week, the owner of the company I was working at threatened that he would not have money to pay us come payday. I found out on Friday (the day we were to receive our checks) that the owner sometimes βthreatens staffs checks to scare them.β I clocked out and went home because fuck that shit. I also set up a time to meet with the owner regarding my money I had worked for. The owner told me that maybe I was better suited working for a large company that could guarantee a paycheck and I responded by saying I enjoyed the job and experience and that I wanted to stay on but I wasnβt okay with talk of not getting paid. I told him βmy check is non negotiable.β He said heβd think it over during the weekend and now Iβm jobless. What ever will I do now that I canβt be taken advantage of now? What a joke. The company is Save Our Soles in Colorado, cool local sock manufacturer with a moron as a leader.
Edit: I did end up with my check at the end of the meeting but he was sure to guilt trip me about it saying that two other employees would not get paid. I found out later he just told them to wait until Monday to cash their checks.

Do double agents collect paychecks from both agencies they work for?
To remain inconspicuous they'd obviously need to be on payroll, but they're actually working for another agency, so are they getting paid double? Does the first agency account for that fact, and pay them less, like a restaurant does for tippable employees?

For those of you who max out your 401k, remember to increase your contribution limit before your first paycheck of the new year
The 401k limit was increased from $19,500 in 2021 to $20,500 in 2022. If you max out your 401k, you were contributing $812.50 per paycheck (or $750 if paid bi-weekly). You now have to increase that to $854.17 per paycheck (or $788.46 if paid bi-weekly) in order to take full advantage of the increased limits.

Have you guys ever collected a paycheck after not giving two weeks notice?
I suddenly got offered a better serving job at a slightly nicer place, sports bar to fancy pizza place.
I liked the staff and managers, but the people were not for me, large parties of families and drunk middle aged men for football games annoyed the shit out of me.
So it came on a whim, the new place wanted to hire and train me ASAP, and so I worked last night and told them Iβm basically done.
Was it any weird getting your last paycheck? I sent a text about it to get it in wording and just saw that they read it, took me off the schedule, but nothing heard back.
Oh how I wish I set up direct deposit.
