A list of puns related to "Partly paid share"
Context: I'm 4-5 years into a career/industry that I've wanted out of for quite some time now (I could probably do a whole post on that) and now want to find a new path, potentially in a new industry, but of course I'm stumped as to what that is, where it might be, what I could do, what my strengths/transferrable skills are. Exciting but also scary.
I recently came across a 'career mentor' on LinkedIn and had an intro call yesterday. It all sounded great, sounds like they have really positive results with a tight community of people who've gone through the programme, and could be really beneficial to me - but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag (it's into the 4 figures), which for me is a really big sacrifice. One I'm willing to take at this stage, but it would set me back a fair bit.
I've never done anything like this before, so I just want to know if anyone has done anything similar and could share their experience - do you feel it was worth the investment? Did you manage to find the job you love but in hindsight would have been able to manage without it? Or, are you really pleased to have gone through with such a programme and you'd recommend doing the same?
Thanks
Can't edit title but he said a 'significant' part, how much?! ๐ง

I worked at a law firm based in City A. They recently opened up an office in City B and are trying to grow that office.
I agreed to move to City B back in June, planned to do so in late September. Negotiated with them to pay for my move, as it was going to be expensive. I rented an apartment in City A and had to break a lease, so that carried some hefty costs. Employer agreed to write a $3000 check to the apartment.
Start date in new office was planned for October 1, today. I moved out of the apartment on September 15, because they found a new tenant. However, I am still on the hook for expenses. I have been staying with family in the interim. I have already secured a place to live in City B, but won't start living there until mid-October.
Firm sends check to apartment around September 20. Apartment actually deposits the check on September 26 in the morning. That exact same morning, employer fires me without cause, and calls up their bank to put a stop payment order on the check.
I find out this morning they were successful in stopping payment because it was done shortly after deposit. Now here I am, without a permanent place to live, and now on the hook again for $3000 because I moved out in reliance on the employer's promise.
Do I have any options for recourse? They really screwed me by doing this and I only moved out because I relied on their promise to help out with the move. I have no written contract for this but have correspondence showing they promised and I relied on it to my detriment.
Considering going for a promissory estoppel action in small claims court, but I need some outside input before I take a big risk like this.

Scenario is assuming you have 30% of a property another location different from your locality. How can you additional un-owned shares of the same property? Kindly advise.
So I have an interesting situation. I had dividend paying stocks in a TFSA and also had DRIP with them. Sold the stocks, but then mid-month got paid in onesies and twosies of shares from these companies. The shares are worth less than the commission to sell them. Is there an option out there to get rid of the stocks that doesn't involve losing money?
I am a little puzzled by how this program works, which you can see details of by searching "fully paid lending" and reading the Fidelity or Ally websites.
Essentially it says, if you have certain stocks that are in demand by others, the brokerage will enable you to "lend out" those stocks while continuing to hold their value, and earn a small (like 3%) rate on them.
As I understand it, then you both get to continue accruing their stock price appreciation, since you still own them, and get some additional income from this lending fee.
Apparently the downside is that 1) you lose voting rights, probably not a huge issue for anyone here, and 2) your dividends instead of being paid as DIV income, become ordinary cash income while your stocks are loaned out.
Maybe I just don't get how this works. Am I being the counterparty to someone shorting the stock and needs the stock first to do that? How does someone benefit if I still own the shares but have "lent them out"? What good is it if they still have to cough up the full value at risk to borrow my shares?
I wonder if it's worth the trouble for 3%.

Iโm currently 38. I grew up a total tomboy. I also grew up in a very abusive home. When I was a kid I wanted to be a boy so badly and my dad told me if I could kiss my elbow I would turn into a boy. I tried and tried and failed - not knowing this was impossible.
Fast forward, Iโm 15 and trying to conform to gender norms and then Ellen comes out and Iโm like, โLeabian? Whatโs that? Oh thatโs me too?โ So I stay closeted until college, come out and assume Iโm a butch dyke. Then, post college, I meet my first trans identified person, the fiancรฉ of a friend. Heโs awesome and gives me an old magnet of his that says, โMy Body, My Rules!โ But my identity doesnโt change. I marry someone lesbian identified who doesnโt want to date a trans person or cis men.
Iโm pseudo closeted at this point, as I only occasionally entertain the idea that Iโm trans. This goes on from 25-35yrs old.
At 35 I start working with a trauma therapist, to deal with my upbringing, and in that process I start to be able to accept myself and share that with her. Shortly afterwards, my wife has an affair with a trans guy. We separate and I keep working on myself. I change my name to a name VERY close to my previous name. Iโm 36. A year after that I change my name to something totally different and totally me, and I change my pronouns. And a couple of months after that I got top surgery. That was almost exactly a year ago today.
I didnโt think Iโd want to start T, but once I healed from my top surgery and felt better in my body, it felt like the natural next thing. I started on T. That was about 4-5 months ago.
Iโm 38 and I finally feel like myself. I feel like Iโm starting the best part of my life. Itโs awesome!
