Parable of the Sower
Matthew 13:3-9
βAnd he spoke many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and immediately they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.β
Jesus explains this parable to his disciples:
Matthew 13:18-23
βHear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the Word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the Word, and anon with joy receives it; Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the Word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the Word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.β

I couldnβt find any of this in the Dhamma Padda.
Also, is there a good podcast that you could refer me to that has these lessons that doesnβt sound like a monotonous college lecture?
"5 The apostles said to the Lord, βIncrease our faith!β 6 The Lord replied, βIf you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, βBe uprooted and planted in the sea,β and it would obey you..."
My pastor put it like this: when Jesus sets out how they must forgive (in Luke 17:4), the apostles ask for more faith and Jesus responds by telling them to live out the faith that they have.
What did you Pastor preach if this was your sermon text yesterday? What do you understand from this passage?

Iβll skip the sob story the best I can and get to the point. Second time homeless, first time with winter coming (as of nov.1). I never swallowed my pride and reached out for help the first time, I struggled until I figured out how to navigate, then landed a place again. It was only a couple months.
Now that cold and snow and slush are being added onto every scenario, and itβs only going to get worse, ive quickly reached out because the only clothes I had was what I was wearing (two thin t-shirts one was ripped, jeans, busted ass $10 old navy shoes covered in holes, and wet socks) even this light winter weather has been rooooough with what I had. I walked in, a bit teary eyed because I donβt easily ask for help, and just told them whatβs up. I was told to just wait while they see what can they can do. Just listen to what they gave me for free:
Thick black professional looking jacket, fleece jacket, regular sweater, 5 t-shirts, 2 pair of socks (one super thick), toque, thick gloves, winter boots, 2 scarfs, long Johns, 2 backpacks (and luggage case I turned down as I want to travel light as possible), sleeping bag, coffee (lady behind the counter even gave me her McDonaldβs free coffee stamp), a bite to eat, and a card of somebody to help out.
Iβm seriously blown away. I would be an icicle trying to stroll through the night like I did last time. Itβs gotten rid of my immediate worries and I can focus on getting work again instead of figuring out how to constantly stay warm...until the actual winter comes lol my ass better be under a roof by then.
Anyway, THANK YOU MUSTARD SEED, THANK YOU DONATERS. If you, or anybody you know, needs help, either physical items to ease the cold, or resources, I canβt recommend this place enough. Call them and ask your questions, they really actually to care, and there is no need to be all alone. They canβt wave a magic wand and fix your life, but damn it sure helps. Soon as I crawl my way out of this hole and back on my feet, Iβm donating a fat bag of supplies there. Thank you a million times. Faith in humanity; almost fully restored ;)

Update: called all my old jobs and asked if I can come back. Couldnβt get a confirmed yes on the phone, but a few of them were happy to hear from me and are calling me back after talking to manage

Broccoli sprouts (and sometimes seeds) are the typically recommended ways of getting sulforaphane. However, uncooked fully grown broccoli also contains myrosinase and glucoraphanin, which produce sulforaphane when cut or chewed. When broccoli is cooked, the myrosinase is deactivated, meaning that sulforaphane won't be produced when the cooked broccoli is eaten. However, adding just a pinch of powdered mustard seed (which contains myrosinase) to the cooked broccoli allows sulforaphane to be produced again (https://nutritionfacts.org/2016/02/09/how-to-cook-broccoli/).
Since broccoli is an ingredient in a lot of dishes which I often eat anyway, I'd like to get my sulforaphane through broccoli instead of broccoli sprouts. Does anyone know exactly how much sulforophane is contained in fully grown broccoli compared to broccoli sprouts or seeds (that is, amount of sulfurophane per 100 g of the broccoli/broccoli sprouts/seeds)?
